  15. Nathaniel says:

    it’s cool i guess. seems like the LEAST amount of thought went into this one, as opposed to his last two albums. i have the sneaking suspicion that they’re (atlantic) swiping more and more creative control from lupe, and asserting more control over every aspect of his art.

    like that new single dropping on feb. 1, “Words I Never Said”… i saw the trailer for it, heard some chick named skylar gray was singing on the hook, and he said he’d never even seen or met the girl or nothing… meaning this must be another one of those “suggested beats” atlantic “encouraged” him to jump on. that ain’t usually how he works. shrug*…maybe it was the dismantling of FNF that lands him in this position with the label.

    anyway, LASERS is as good as copped when it drops.

  16. your pusha says:

    like it, dope, he will do it

    “Everytime I look around I see a bunch of ‘what the fucks’/Blabberin’ about so-and-so, talkin’ bout such-and-such” – Lupe Fiasco’s Words I Never Said

  48. haq says:

    Blueprint 3 rip off. U lost, bitch.

  49. Matt says:

    LOL @ Nathanial

    You wait till you hear the lyrics to Words I Never Said.

  50. Punisher says:

    Lupe Gayasco sucks. I don’t know why you starbucks sippin’, Obama supportin, hippie douchebags like him so much. He’s trash and the main reason why gangsta rap has died. Gangsta rappers are forced to collab with pop stars because no one likes West Coast or East Coast hip-hop anymore, thus making Hip-Hop even worse. The only people that like his music are white or foreign college kids that have never listened to REAL gangsta rap (Not trash like Waka Fuck You Flamer or Cooci Mane) that think they’re hip and trendy, because they like music that talks about the economy and politics. GTFO with that garbage.

    Look at Kanye. He use to collab with really good artists and could have became a really decent rapper if he didn’t turn into a douchey, nerd rapper.

  51. Mr Xclusive says:

    this will be trash, it will flop and you loser fans will continue to say he is better than wayne smh dumb ignorant motherfuckers …YOUNG MONEY RUNNIN SHIT AND YOU NIGGAS JUST RUNNER UPS ..holla at me when Lupe does 500,000 aight

  52. cruz00005 says:

    @Punisher shut the hell up bruh. i love gangsta rap but that’s not the ONLY type of rap. u gotta respect conscious rap too

    @Mr Xclusive you jus sounded so ignorant dumb***

  53. smokeyou says:

    not a big lupe fan but that cover is nice.

  54. Mike Dreams says:

    @Nathaniel

    Skylar Grey is a writer than is signed under producer Alex Da Kid’s publishing label. She’s been writing all the hits you hear on the radio right now (Eminem & Rihanna’s “Love The Way You Lie” (both versions) and Diddy’s “I’m Coming Home”, T.I. & Christina Aguilera’s “Castle Walls”) She sung on that too. She came up real grassroots, and Alex Da Kid started becoming successful, and is now working on getting her out there. I believe she wants to be a solo artist in her own right too, but right now, she’s just paying dues writing and what not. That’s really dope that she’s going to be on the single. It should be incredible then. To me, her sound make the radio better. I personally don’t have a huge problem with the radio, but there’s a lot of suck trash music on it. But I enjoy hearing the joints she penned get massive airplay. They seem to still have artistic value. The radio sound she embodies to me is like 1995 Adult Alternative (Alanis Morisette, etc) meets hip-hop/urban sounds, heavy drums, etc (usually provided by Alex Da Kid). B.o.B’s “sound” to me was more of a Lupe sound in the first place. That’s why it didn’t surprise me too much when I heard “Nothin’ On You” and “especially “Airplanes” were originally sent to Lupe. I think Lupe would have smashed that joint; but B.o.B did great as well.

    Anyways, I wrote a grip of stuff I just realized! LOL. But I’m real excited for L.A.S.E.R.S. Talent like Lupe needs the recognition. Save the “sell-out” comments. I don’t think this guy will ever do that. But I am glad he has realized you have to play the game to infiltrate the system. It’s much better than just being a broke, hardly known rapper who proclaims they “stay true” ‘cuz they’re “anti-industry”, as their writing another complex rhyme while collecting Food stamps and W.I.C. Real rap…

  55. Roy says:

    @Nathaniel

    Eh, I like the guy as an artist. But, as a rapper I wish he’d do a little more. But you’re right he’s manufactured so he won’t. Could be worse though I guess. I’ve heard worse.

    I agree he doesn’t bring as much as Lupe. He’s a lot more creative in my opinion. I’m still waiting for him and Em to hop on a track. And not for just punchlines sake. I mean concept wise. Em’s a musical genius but I really wish he’d come up with more concept songs. He’s done it a few times before and I know the dude likes to spit raw but it’d be nice if he did some more shit like Stan, Almost Famous(he spits raw here but there’s a pretty witty concept through out), Guilty Conscience, etc. Put him and Lupe on a track with a nice concept, shit would make my head explode.

  56. Van says:

    The cover is dope, I guess. Lupe usually comes with the crazy well thought out art direction (i.e. The Cool) This cover seem a little less creative and a lot more strategic; and it feels like the BP3 cover. Lupe never has been a follower so to even use the same color way as a pop project like BP3 is uhh disappointing. What happened to Nathan Cabrera, Chuck Anderson, and Righteous Kung Fu? The bottom like is I’ll still cop the album but I’m sayin’.

  57. tr says:

    “true. but we know B.o.B. is as manufactured by the machine as they come. i think they “sent” him like 80% of the joints on his album. julie greenwald at her best.”

    But those songs were hot. Sent to him or not they were actually good songs and his rapping was good too. I’ll take that any day over this techno rap shit and autotune crap I’m hearing.

    And did you listen to No Genres? B.O.B is still hip-hop man. I applaud his success cause he hasn’t abandoned his hip-hop roots.

    Furthermore, his pop songs are better than Eminem’s typical pop single imo.

    “but i don’t care about b.o.b being a pop star for 3 yrs then fizzling into obscurity. he doesn’t offer what lu does. but that’s just imo lol”

    I love Lupe but wasn’t the Cool released in late 2007? He pretty much fizzled into obscurity and he didn’t take the pop star route. We’ll see if B.O.B has staying power.
