So the saga continues. After Michael Rapaport spoke on the rift last week, Tip retreated to his Twitter account again and respond to the director’s claims regarding the ATCQ documentary.
“Speaking of 1nce again… here i some tribe chat. the director of the film cannot speak to what is in my head abt the documentary. nor can this director EVER say the i dont speak for the group. when i say i do then belive me i do. tribe is no different than any other collective. we experience bumps bruises and disagreements then and we still do.

Tribe fan.. get real nigga.. Sundance don’t mean shit.. as a matter of fact.. a lot of film makers/films go to sundance to try and gain support so they can get financial backing and promotion to get roled out wide spread and not just a spot here and there.
They can get accepted just due to the people involved.. that don’t mean commercial appeal or even financial success.. OR to say that the sundance audience will even feel it.
My point is.. although people “respect” ATCQ.. they don’t care about them like that.. that would be like releasing and Eric B or Big Daddy Kane DOC.. MOST people ain’t gonna care.. die hard fans will.. but the mainstream don’t give a shit.
You have to pick a compelling figure or either tell a very compelling story to bring in those who are not the usual demographic of the subject of the doc.

A Tribe Called Quest was all about the QUALITY of music, that’s why they made three classic albums. How many other rap groups/artists do you know with THREE CLASSIC albums? Think about it, there’s not too many of ’em.
In the process of making quality music they sold a couple million records, proving that respect gets you more than a one bedroom apartment on the southside, ha!
In conclusion: A Tribe Called Quest earned BOTH respect AND money, while rappers who only cared about making money, like Shitty Scent, earned money but lost all their respect while making horrible garbage like ‘Candy Shop’, ‘Amusement Park’ or ‘Ayo Technology’. Until their career takes a downturn, like Shitty Scent’s career right now, and they’re left for dead, because they have sold out their artistic integrity making garbage like ‘Candy Shop’ for the pop radio stations. Real artists and groups will ALWAYS have a hardcore fan base as long as they stay true to their hiphop roots and don’t sell out. A Tribe Called Quest is a proof of that.
