MTV has started a new series called “Behind The Beats”. For their new edition, Lexus speaks about his evolution as a beat maker, how it was hard to catch a break at first and how he got his big break when he heard Waka’s “Hard In The Paint” for the first time on the radio in the ATL.

i hope they interview some real producers.. this dude has zero creativity in his work.. everything sounds the same

respect his hustle but thats about it

  2. trekk says:

lex luger is horrible…. but get yo grind on nigga!

  3. assasin9 says:

if people were paying me money to make the same beat I wud keep doing it too — doesnt mean he isnt or can’t be creative, right now he doesnt have to be

  4. Justmyopinion says:

    @ yo & assasin9

I think no one that comment will disagree with you.

  5. yo says:

    @assasin9

well i hope dude will deliver different sounds… that h.a.m track was fuggin awful.

whatever tho as long as he stays working with those ignant artists like waka and gucci i dont care

just keep those cheap ahss beats away from the talented artists lol, makin them sound bad and shiit

  6. Niyemortal says:

if someone told me to make the same song and get paid for it, I honestly wouldnt do that shit. ultimate setup to fail when you do that. We all want to be rich, but peeps should be passionate about the art form of it too.

  7. PAUSE :| says:

I’m a fellow producer who doesn’t approve of Lex’s sometimes repetitive style…But I realized that I can’t be mad at him for what he does. He said something dead important in the interview…”I don’t do it for money, I do it because I love it”. That’s all i need to hear personally….

Any of you producers who down him can look back at when you first started making beats…Bet you everything I own that your beats all sounded the same. The boy is 19!!! Give this nigga a round of applause for not being inside your house right now breaking in for a living…

What I’m saying is give him some time to hopefully evolve into someone even greater man! I would wish that shit for any of you niggas just because one of us got a little bit closer to living a better life. Not trying to ride that nigga (no homo)…

I’m thinking to myself, one day THAT COULD BE ME! One

    …Think first ~!~

  8. Niyemortal says:

    @pause

    i respect your statement 110%

  9. COLD BLOOD says:

Thank you for opening you mind brother…Real talk.

  11. Converse says:

Damn i thought lex was atleast 25? Young nigga and already blew up and found success! No hate waiting 4 my big break. Sidebar: If he wanna soak up all the money from recycling beats why not the business/consumer is in a demand for it.

  12. Converse says:

@Period blood fukk u close minded bitch!

  14. TheRealest says:

He has the hardest drums in the game right now…and every producer is starting to imitate his drum programming

Those deep 808s and crazy snare rolls are dope. Its kinda like when Drumma Boy first introduced those tripletime kicks on Rocko’s “Umma do me”

  15. mac DIESEL says:

“Lexus speaks about the evolution as a beat maker”

U MEAN HE SPEAKS ON THE EVOLUTION OF REPEATIN’ THE SAME DAMN BEAT!!!! THIS NIGGA IS NOT THAT TALENTED!!!! FUCK OUTTA HERE!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  16. Post no billz says:

Alot of his beats do sound the same but im digggin homies style.. I hear alot of producers tryna bite him..

  17. Marquese says:

Ya same… he seems like real cool dude but all his fucking beats sound the same ever one besides lights out by fab. thats about the only one that sounds different that iv herd.

  18. pawz says:

whats the beat at the beginning?

  19. So Icy Boi! says:

Lex Luger tha new Dre BURRR

  20. TheRealShifty says:

you guys say this dude has no talent, but yet, he was an executive producer for kanyes album. you all need to stop being so close minded and see real talent for once in ur lives. kids nineteen. dude has talent and potential.

  21. slimshady says:

THIS NIGGA CAN’T EVEN SPEAK A PROPER FUCKING SENTENCE!!!!!! ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT HE CAN’T PRODUCE FOR SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. So Icy Boi! says:

    slimshady = mac DIESEL BURRR

  23. slimshady says:

So Icy Boi= Gucci Mane’s left testicle.

  24. So Icy Boi! says:

    slimshady = Eminem’s thong BURRR

  25. PhillyB says:

I like how MTV pegged him as a “Super Producer.” I can respect him for somehow making money off of his terrible beats, but “Super Producer???” Get out of here with that nonsense!

  26. queensgetthemoney says:

why did i imagine him white??????

  27. Donn says:

Its funny how all the artist and ppl y’all don’t like be the most successful LMFAO
If the industry wanted to predict sales and success they would read comment blogs and do the opposite of what y’all say lol

  28. slimshady says:

Who the fuck is you “converse”???

  29. Black Shady says:

I aint hating on this nigga. his beats are hard!!!

I hate Wacka Flocka with a passion, but whenever i hear HARD IN THE PAINT…im in the zone son!!! LOL

  30. K-DUB says:

Lexus Lewis (AKA Lex Luger) was my next door neighbor for more than 15 yrs. He first started making beats strictly on his drums then went to a shitty computer program and still put out beats that people wanted to hear. Why hate on a kid that is doing his thing and making a life for his family. Obviosly he’s doing his thing when he won BET’s Best New Producer and his Rick Ross BMF won record of the year and club banger of the year. Stop hating on my boy and let’s clap for him, cause he’s gone from working with WACKA to working with kayne and Jay in less than a year. Do your thing Lex!

    ————————————————————————————————————————————-

WHO AND WHO??????? LOL FUCK FROM ROUND HERE SON!

  32. yo says:

i aint mad at him im just annoyed that this dude gets put on for everyone to see while other dudes like NOTTZ dont get as much exposure, his beats just arent my style its not his fault!

  33. CK says:

@PAUSE 😐 Everybody should post such intersting and up-lifting comments, grow up people who say easy shit and leave a “YOU CAN HATE ME NOW” or a “DON’T HATE MY OPINION”!!!!!

Lex Luger is talented, he’s 19 and produced very good tracks in his style, i don’t listen to them often, but they go hard. I mean, “hustle hard, hard in da paint, bmf, mc hammer and now H.A.M.” !!! he is the producer of 2010 ! and he’s 19 !!! he’ll hopefully blow completely up and stay a long time in the game, but for that he needs to often change his style and don’t be afraid of taking risks. look up to kanye, he stayed and left parell, lil jon, timbo, and maybe swizz behind because he kept delivering new stuff at his finest.

by saying “I don’t do it for money, I do it because I love it” the level of respect i have for lex luger double up. keep it up.

  34. YaDig says:

Cosign @Pause even tho this kids beats are maaaaad repetitive to the point where its annoying as fuck

  35. Converse says:

@slim shady Dont fukk n worry bout it u gay fuk

  36. ELZ says:

HOMEY DOIN HIS THING STOP HATING WHEN PHARRELL FIRST CAME IN ALL HIS SHIT SOUNDED THE SAME SWIZZ, TIMBO, DRE, PREMEIRE ALL OF THEM…GET THAT PAPER NIGGA

  37. Yung Silv says:

he seems a little slow in the head

  38. ColoradoKnight says:

Congrats on the success at such a young age! (Note to bloggers & producers in the making) You can learn from this kid rather than filling the boards with negativity. Then again, this is the world we live in…

  40. Mike S. says:

    hustler, he is.
    super-producer, he is NOT!
my nigga if the first time you heard a track was when it was on the radio, sorry, YOU DID NOT PRODUCE IT.
dr dre & jermaine dupri & neptunes & puff & jus blaze = super producers
lex luger = beat-maker (not that there’s anything wrong with that)

  41. Nexus says:

@Donn Is it only the negative comments you read? Cuz I swear theres a lot of people giving dude props but i think yu only see the bad comments…fuk wrong with yu?

  42. KanyeSmug says:

Aside from Kanye’s verse. CAN’T HATE ON H.A.M.

  43. still best rite now!! says:

I remember everybody in the hood thought they was producers on dat ‘Music generator’ for Playstation! lol

Props to Lex, he started from the bottom & grinded to the top, how can you hate on that?

  44. boss says:

    Boss in the building bitch

  45. KingWonder says:

    Lmaooo first of all,
THIS IS AS CLOSE AS MTV WILL GO TO PLAYING MUSIC HAHAA

    second,
MEEEH. HE’S WATEVER. HE’S NOT THE GREATEST PRODUCER OF ALL TIME. AND HE’S NOT THE WORST EITHER. HE’S MADE A FEW BEATS THAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION.
    BESIDES, HE’S YOUNG!!

  46. LUKEtracks says:

Big props to Lex, dudes only 19 and look who hes got on his shit already! maaaaaaaaan FL Studio FTW!

  47. puerto-black says:

Co-sign @CK. He’s only 19, what were you doing at 19? damn sure wasnt doing the 1st single for jay and yeezy or produceing a entire album for a new comer or giveing Styles P some shine on the radio. Like the neptunes didnt put out the same sound niggas was paying for. Is there no room for improvement?

  48. mr.zee says:

i always get a good laugh at you guys, shout out to all you producers out there criticizing, making better beats than him and still at square 1 with no money or success. since ur so much better than him i salute u.

  49. J.COLE SUCKS says:

Who gives a fuck if his beats sound the same….BMF beat>>>>

I dare u to pick a beat from your fav producer to top that in the last 8 months…

    COME BITCH…WHAT U WAITING FOR…NAME A BEAT !

  50. Mr. A From Tha T says:

^^^ Yeezy-“All of The Lights” “Thats My Bitch”
    Em “Wont Back Down”
“Fire Flame” Bird and Weezy-Idk who did the beat but shits hard
    “6’7′”-Bangladesh
    Khaled “Welcome to My Hood”
Monster’s pretty fuckin tight too but them horns on All of The Lights just blew my fuckin brains out.
And i aint tryin to hate on Lex but outa all his tracks, the only one that really had a diffrent sound was the “See Me Now” joint, just swich it around a lil bit bruh, but its whatever, you make the kind of music with the point in life your at, if ya on a hot streak run it till ya burn out dogg

  51. JustSaying says:

All you niggas that had something negative to say are unhappy with your own fucking life so you sit behind a computer screen and talk all that shit, None of you are successful at anything but getting on rapradar and hating. Sometimes I dread clicking on that comment button because it’s majority hatred every time, no truth just a bunch a men bickering like bitches about other men. If you don’t like him, FINE just say that, but you niggas go way to far with that hating like a BUNCH OF BITTER BITCHES WHO NEVER MADE IT! keep shining on these hoes young man. sky is the limit, these bitch ass niggas are the reason you are successful, they are the ones that give you all that aggressive energy you have in your beats from hating, it pisses you off I bet, just put it in your beats and don’t pay these niggas no never mind, the best way to get back at someone is to be successful. Do yo thang patna.

  52. yo says:

dude aint gonna be successful no more unless he grow as a producer and experiment with some other sounds!! right now hes a fad… nothing more!

  53. Arii Price says:

At 19, like others have stated, he’s far ahead of the curve. He can only get better, and expand.

People want things to be so instantaneous all the time, as if he were supposed to evolve every split second. It will take time. Kanye was the same way, and was judged as such.

Look at him now. Straight orchestra almost.

  54. PROPS!! YOUNG BLACK MAN GETTIN THAT BREAD!! THATS WHATS UP! :p LEX DID A DANCE/CLUB BEAT THAT WAS PRETTY DOPE! FOR THOSE WHO SAID HE DOESNT HAVE A DIFFERENT SOUND.

  55. your pusha says:

if the kid made BMF, MC HAMMMER and HARD in the paint, my personal favourite club bangers in a long long long time all in one year, theres is nooo waaay im ever gonna hate on him, what he does after that is up to him, personally im rooting for him, coz of Lex last year when i entered a club and heard one of his joints i REALLY felt like BIG MEECH!

  56. madvybez says:

Never heard of this dude but will you tube some of his beats now
he is 19 so obviously he will improve. You are not forced to listen to mans music so if you dont like it jog on

  57. Blacc says:

Hes a problem man, like it or not.

Y’all ain’t even hear that beat in the background at the beginning. Fire….Smh his bass lines will carry his career. And who cares if stuff sounds similar man that’s his style, it’ll evolve in time.

  58. D says:

man i like some of his beats. i just think HAM was crap.

  59. Domo says:

Whats the first beat thats played?

  60. gdfhgg says:

“Mocha & Milk” is a perfect match like “black & white” people

    ______[ Bl-a-ck ]”[ Wh-it-e ]” [ Fl-ir-ts ]”[C0-”m] _____
The most successful interra cial /// da t ing c lub. If you are still waiting for your swee t “milk” or “mocha”, don’t hesitate to check it !! Don’t let your babies wait too lon g for you !!

  61. D says:

    Scoop Deville >>>>> Lex Luger

  62. Mac Attack says:

Should be called Lex Luger – Behind the beat… Because its the same beat over and over and over and over and over and over..

  63. Sam I Am says:

I have never seen so many misinformed niggas in one place other than 5 min ago in every other post in one this site lol. Ok listen and listen good, im about to put some game out there. To the peeps that say, “he getting money though, cant hate” – Shut the fuck up. Mad niggas was getting money for years, but it was hurting the culture and salewise, HipHop kept plummeting. They say every genre is feeling the economic crunch, well HipHop felt it the worst. Read about it nigga. “Oh he’s only 19, he can only get better” Soulja boy was younger when he dropped Crank Dat, did that nigga improve by leaps and bounds? Fuck no. Next. “He putting food on his family table” that i wont knock, but goback to my first point and re-read. Cant knock he’s providing for his fam though “he’s at the top of the game right now” lmao how stupid are you? he’s POPULAR now but its been exposed that the industry is all about politics. If the industry wants you to be pushed, you’ll get that push. Its real simple folks. Waka made a song with his beat. Ross and Diddy hopped on it. Jay and Kanye know Ross. They made a song for Watch the Throne. Everyone in this circle obviously has mad pull in the industry. Its really not hard to figure out. Bottom line: Lex, congrats. Enjoy your success for now, save up your money, step up your beat game and you might be around two – three years from now. work on your longevity and dont be a one trick pony (Ron Browz, bangladesh, Drumma Boy, etc.). But Lex and all Lex fans, dont be shocked when Clark Kent shows up and cleans ya niggas out………

  64. Sam I Am says:

^i know thats either Lugar himself or one of your homeboys. This is criticism not hate. I want you to succeed man, but be aware that if you go about it wrongly, your open door is going to close a shit load of doors for hungry producers with more talent. You see Lex, you need to “diversify your bonds, nigga”

What gets me is that a few weeks ago, Pete Rock was so excited to get Jay-Z on a track after ALL THOSE YEARS, and Lex got it in like what? a year or so….which isnt bad at all, but you want to tell me it has to do with talent? you wanna tell me Lex Lugar is greater than Pete Rock? GTFOH! Payola reigns supreme, doesnt it?

  65. Ac@pella! says:

Lucky bastard. Lol. I’m proud of him tho. I respect dude’s hustle and I can’t lie, his beats r bangin’..I jus think he needs to step his interview skills up. Lol

  66. Mr.G says:

^@Sam i am Ha nah i anit his homeboy or him. We dont need hate lol! And pete rock is WACK!!

  67. Sam I Am says:

    @Mr.G

yeah we dont need hate, and thats why i gave criticism. each point was valid as well. Im willing to have a civil argument about how you can prove me wrong on this dude. Go ahead.

  68. 2B says:

There must be something in the water in V.A. I live down here Miami and that’s the thing to do….make a name for yourself and come work and live in Miami…biggest trend for producers(and some rappers) right now.

  69. K-Dub says:

Lex Luger, I know him as Lex Lewis, was my next door neighbor for over 15 years. I grew up with this kid, we hung out all the time when we were younger. I used to be outside and i could here him in his room playing the drums and just killing it. He started on his own, no lessons, nothing. For anyone to say his stuff is whack or anything like that is making yourself look dumb. You think he’s lame? If he’s so lame or repetitive why is everyone jumping on his beats? Lex is a good kid just doing his thing to better the life of his baby girl and the one on the way. Do your thing bro, I’ve always had your back and always will!

  70. Gusto says:

Gratz to Lex. Gotta respect the kids hustle and love the for music. He’s on his way in my opinion, dudes got a bright future and as he develops as a human being watch his music develop. Just look at Swizz…. everybody said his shit was nuthin but corny casio keyboard shit but he grew, his music grew and 10 years later he’s producing for the best in the game and puttin’ out hits.

    G

  71. madvybez says:

haters gonna hate, if your a producer go network go in even harder stop watching face. Actually did you tube this youths music earlier and tbh I was not impressed all the beats did sound samey but boy if the formula is not broken dont try and fix it.

  72. Sanch says:

This nigga’ is MOS DEF on his grind, already fucked with Rozay,’Ye & Jay?
    Maaaaayne,props too him.
    Stay on the grind dawg.

  73. 3K says:

STOP HATIN IF YOU SO GOOD WHY YOUR SHIT AINT BEING PLAYED I LIKE THAT NIGGA BEATS

  74. ZoN3SHAwTYMaN says:

yall hatin niggaz r disgustin yall get on here nd shyt on anotha nigga a young nigga at that. thats doin his thing dat sum homo ass female shyt. learn frum dis nigga he on yall aint obviously shawty doin sumthn rite. get of yall ass and make moves!!!! fuk all dat extra lame shyt HayGood AVe n dis bytch!!!! Gone!!!!

  75. Lil Mark says:

What people need to realize is their definition of a producer isn’t all the same. This guy makes beats because he love making something he can relate to. Even if his style isn’t what you prefer. That wouldn’t make since for lex to make something for Tim Mcgraw. I’m 19 also and i know any success at this age should be well credited. He has room to grow if thats what he wants or is destine to do. It’s all about his choices. He chose to make {{ Trap beats}} and look where he’s gotten. If he could make it off of making a trap beat, why you still at home watching his interview on MTV making your super exclusive beats which are not saleing to Kayne or fab or waka? IDK try making a trap beat lol.

  76. okay sum’ah yall just str8t hatin na….let dat nigga do him az long az he got love for his craft dat all dat matta everybody aint pete rock and dj premier (MUCH RESPECTS THOE) but hip hop got more to offer than mpc’s samples and turn tables expand yah horizons ppl gah damn!

  77. Albert says:

Bloggergood reading your blog site and simply just thought I would say thanks a lot and wished I could write like that.
