I remember when little hip hop heads loved to be against the Beastie Boys. I loved hip hop and I attribute that love of hip hop to the Beastie Boys and Run DMC at a young age. I branched out. The Hello Nasty was a bit over-produced and underwhelming, but listen to any one of the albums before that. Listen to what the clubs are mixing in to the music. Beastie Boys have become a hip hop legend. Yes there are better rhymes out there, but that has never been a Beastie Boys strong point.
Like hearing old friends again for the first time in years. Keep in mind that the first track on an album should set the mood for the rest, but not necessarily be the meat of the work. My favorite elderly Jewish rappers.
