I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panas0nic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. When will people understand that this man’s whole career is a TOTAL AND COMPLETE LIE! He did not and I repeat, DID NOT WRITE ACT I OR EXHIBIT A,B, OR C. He’s a fraud that was given a book to rap from in December 2005 by an A&R at Def Jam. Notice since the completion of Exbihit C in 2008 that he has failed to release a full song without any features or over one minute long, because HE CAN NOT REALLY RAP! Sooner or later people will start to look back on his music today, then compare it back to the music he was making in 2007 and 2008 and conclude that he had a ghost writer for his best material and CAN NOT produce the same level of material today. IT’S TIME FOR PEOPLE TO WAKE AND AND START ASKING QUESTIONS DIRECTLY TO THIS MAN JAY ELECTRONICA.

couple thoughts:
– i thought this was pretty good. jay e is, aside from maybe blu, one of the only rappers that come to mind who could be involved with something this and have it not be forced or corny. it was at least interesting enough to hold my attention from like 3 minutes in till the end.
– i personally don’t think nas has ever been as good as he was on illmatic. does that mean he never wrote his own shit again? i dont think theres been a huge drop in lyrical quality over jay’s career (or nas, necessarily)…his verse on this is basic electronica, but its still better and more thoughtful than a huge majority of verses you would ever hear coming out today…his features on just begun & prowler 2 are classic
– a short film like this is totally not out of step with his career so far. he’s famous for having a deliberately artsy aesthetic (hence Act 1, the one minute songs/random releases of tracks through youtube etc). he has cultivated a mystique of being an ultra-creative, reclusive genius, and that also probably plays a big part in the delays of all his relases (almost like detox)
-as to jay electronica’s career being based on fraud, i mean, i dont know. that letter was intriguing, but the dude presents no actual proof. couldn’t anyone just say that after the fact? then, to cap things off, he plugs his new mixtape at the end and it turns out he works as a marketing agent? questionable. the possible scenarios are:
1)somehow, this crazy story happened, and jay electronica is a shadowy industry created figurehead with no lyrical abilities
2) carter whitelow is just plugging himself, OR
3) carter whitelow is involved in a grassroots advertising campaign from roc nation to help create more mystique and hype about jay e, especially to see if he can live up to his major label expectations without the help of carter whitelow’s handy dandy notebook
