@ toad352, you’re right, he did sign with roc nation last november. I don’t know, he has a great amount of talent, but he’s what? 34? 35? and he still hasn’t had an album out? I feel like he has nothing to rap about anymore. Think of Mobb Deep, Nas, Big, Pun, all of them came out with classic material at 18-21. Young cats that lived the life. What does Jay live? He has a kid with Badu? 1 Mixtape? And what? 3 unreleased EPs? without even a release date or single for a debut. By the time he actually comes out he’ll be almost 40, and then what? what kind of a career is that? I don’t want to sound like a hater, cause like I said, dude has talent. But Com’n! He should be on the you played yourself for not having an album out 15 years ago. Just saying.

  27. RUTHLESS says:

    Whats a Jay Electronica???????

  28. Bilyunair says:

Um, @djgame hes 35. Ok cool. How old is nasir and P now? Can they match up with elec today? Also, that day of dope ass 18 yr old mc’s is over. Kendrick 23-24. Cole 24-25. Neither one of them matching up with elec. Sonically, them dudes dont demand attn like elec does. If they kickin knowledge, its baby knowledge. Only dude I see in elec’s realm is 3k. How old is 3k? And he had the best verse on carter 4. Age dont mean shit, this aint basketball sir. See: H O V… Oh, and how old is Em? Budden? Pusha? Ye? You heard Act 1 I hope… He has 35 yrs to rap about as opposed to a dude rappin from just 17-18 yrs of experience. Plus its ALL substance. Thethinkingelite.tumblr.com sorry elliot lol

  29. Sc_R says:

That last comment might be one of the most on point I’ve seen on here.. It’s gon be dope to get a fresh perspective from somebody who’s been through it.. some real wisdom in rap like dude went and traveled the world and then made the music instead of vice versa

i see niggas is on that detox swag lol

  32. QUEENZ says:

THIS ALBUM CANT COME SOON ENOUGH!!!!!!!!! I CANT WAIT

  33. HAHA says:

@bilyunair…Nasir Jones can definitely match up with elect today, yesterday and tomorrow. According to the votes in YouTube and twitter Nasir Olu Dara Jones had the best verse on the Carter 4. There are plenty of artist that rap with substance, with wisdom and that have traveled the world …but how many have legendary careers? Very few… Nas was/is just that gifted at the age of 17 to have the ability to write with greatness and at the age 38 his pen game is still sharp. “The day of dope 18 year emcees” is NOT over…there are a few out in the world just waiting on their chance to shine.

  34. G-Cass says:

Act 2 < WTT + Cole World. I bet it drops on Christmas Day or some stupid shit like that.

U See How Fast Money Changes You When They Flash A Little In Your Face. F*** All The Gate Keepers To The Music Industry, Which includes The Payloa Bloggers Too!!! I said Hip Hop Been Way Befor Nas Even Said It!!!!
RIP Steve Jobs, He Advanced Technology So The Avarage Rapper Dont Have To Depend On The Corny Ass Industry. Think Out Sid The Box!!!

  38. ??? says:

The DUMBEST isht I ever read : ” but he’s what? 34? 35? and he still hasn’t had an album out? I feel like he has nothing to rap about anymore.”

So after 35 years of LIFE EXPERIENCE there is nothing to rap about anymore? He hasn’t released an album yet oh gee so he has nothing to say. I guess a 1 year old has volumes to express then GTFOH seriously

  39. Water says:

    cosign @bilyunaire 100%

How in the world could Jay Elect “run out of things to rap about” just because he’s 35? Is oppression gonna end? Is the world gonna stop spinning? Are the pyramids gonna crumble? Because that’s the stuff that Jay E raps about. He’s only been on the scene for like 3 years anyway, dropping music insanely rarely during that time, so everything you’ve ever heard him say on a track has been from the perspective of age 33 and up. And with the rarity that he actually releases anything, he hasn’t exactly been burning through his concepts very quickly.

  40. Musiq Stylz says:

You would think being homeless and jobless, as well as growing up in NO that Electronica would have been had a story to tell way before the age of 35. So it takes traveling the world for you to create an album. Act II was suppose to be out in 2007 and then he promised 2009 and here it is damn near 2012. He continues to release unfinished songs as well. How long does it take to rap about the stars, moon, dragons and fathers in heaven or scientific mathematics? Electronica is nice but he is not reinventing the hip hop wheel.

  41. Bilyunair says:

Fuck youtube, Nasir verse on carter 4 aint better than his verse on Ghetto Dreams with Common. 3k got that, 3k held his own right after Tech as well, while Nasir was flowin wit SHYNE. Anybody will sound dope next to Shyne. Who are these ppl that run the industry? Not us blk folks. IN FACT, those ppl come from the lineage of the same folks that brought us over here. Are they saints? Remember they write their own history so I dont even have to go in on them, they transcribed their own works of chaos & disorder for the last 6,000 yrs… Back to hip hop. Nas can’t see Elec. Also another Brother that has baby knowledge. Last time I heard Nasir kick something, elec did the beat. Who knows if Nas even wrote that Queens get the $ verse… Thethinkingelite.tumblr.com please remember, dont feed the simba

  42. Bilyunair says:

He isnt reinventing the wheel. Hes just spinning it with his own hand now, at his speed of choice. Dragons? History in that if you understand. Get your mind out of the sky first though. Did any of you brothers hear act 1? He couldve release act2 earlier, it wouldve have just sounded waaay different. There are Three versions of Act 2.

  43. Musiq Stylz says:

    @bilyunair
Nas kicked knowledge on that entire ‘Untitled’ album. The song ‘Testify’ alone was better than the entire song ‘Queens Get The Money’ and that wack ass beat. You sound like a complete hater. Nas status is legendary: 8 certified platinum and 3 gold albums. Distant Relatives is the only album that Nas has not received a plaque for as if yet. And fuck your opinion about Nas’ verse on the Carter 4…if the majority on youtube and twitter state Nas had the best verse what makes your opinion valid? So because Nas verse was before Shyne’s disqualifies him from having the best verse. You need to GTFOH with your logic. Nas is not in competition with JE or 3K because Nas has been there and done that already since the age of 17. Nas is what you call a LEGEND! He is already in the history books…matter of fact Nas got scholars/professors writing books about his genius and teaching courses on his quality music FACT!

  44. bilyunair says:

Does opinion equate fact ? The dictionary & google is your friend BROTHER, so Twitter and Youtube Tells YOU when something is dope or not? *yawn* I forgot how nas fans are just as emotional as pac fans. It clouds your judgment of quality. Nasir selling records holds no weight when discussing his ability to be dope CONSISTENTLY. A Prayer for Mike Vick & T.I. Or Annakins Prayer contain more wisdom/knowledge than any Nasir track I’ve ever heard. And I’m a Nas fan. He’s back rappin now, which is Peace. Professor’s writing about nas, that’s peace, but those scholars and professor’s are writing about Illmatic ONLY. How many albums nasir got? how many impacted our community like Illmatic did? Damn shame elec aint even put out a full length lp and he’s being discussed wit the likes of your beloved nasir. Hell I aint the first to think what elec does is similar to Nas, but better. My logic? Where is yours? Nas sold more records so that means he’s a legend. Along with Nelly, vanilla Ice and hammer. yo The scholarly argument can be shredded to pieces as well but this isn’t the forum for that.

SMH for youtube being your foundation of why Nas verse was dope… What makes an MC of, let’s say “knowledge raps” (for now, don’t keep that term) dope? Voice, flow, BEAT selection, and substance, moreover how that so called substance is being conveyed. Is it over baring? Can a teen rock with it today? Can everyone comprehend it or just a select few?

    Lol @ GTFOH

*walks out bumpin NY state of mind pt. 2*

  45. bilyunair says:

but really, lets see what act 2 does. peace

  46. PHILTH says:

THE LINEUP IS SUCH..WTT..JCOLE THEN JAY ELECT..U NIGRAS DONT GOT ACCESS TO COMMON SENSE?? ACT 2 BEING PREPPED AS WE SPEAK..ROC NATION BITCHES!!!!

  47. Jesus says:

i really dont care what this album sells and/or any of that other bullshit. i just CAN.NOT.FUCKING.WAIT. this shit is gonna be epic.

  48. Musiq Stylz says:

“Nas is one of the greatest writers in hip hop, it’s only a question of if he is the greatest.”-Jay Electronica.

A hater could never discredit Nas because Nas is respected by Jay Elect, J Cole, Lupe, Kanye, Eminem & Common who have all been mentioned in the category of Nasir Jones. All of these artist consider Nas to be one of the best…if not the best. Common most recently told the world on MSNBC that “Nas is the greatest if all times.”

A hater should never have to pretend to be a fan…what you write displays your true feelings…LOL!
Again, Nas is not in competition he has already received his crown years ago and he is able to sit on the throne.
