Rutgers Course Inspired By Beyoncé
Friday, January 27 2012 4:48 PM EST | Posted by: Big Homie | Posted in: Blog, R&BLike her hubby, Bey’s musical influence is being taught in schools. Rutgers University’s Department of Women Studies offers the course, “Politicizing Beyoncé”. Doctoral student and lecturer Kevin Allred says:
This isn’t a course about Beyoncé’s political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama’s inauguration weekend. Rather, the performer’s music and career are used as lenses to explore American race, gender, and sexual politics. It’s important to shift students away from simply being consumers of media toward thinking more critically about what they’re engaging on a regular basis.

Hey lil' red riding hood. What's goin' on in that pretty lil' bi-polar brain of yours? A few days have passed but the damage was still done. Your Grammy antics were a big eye jammie on hip-hop culture. Sauntering by the red carpet velvet ropes with a fake Pope? An exorcism live on stage? Holy Ghost, what a horrific performance. Is anything sacred? We hated it. You can keep retweeting strictly positive @replies all you want but, truth be told, very few of your fans are checking for your character. Tuck your alter ego in. We must kill Roman! The Barbies don't want it nor do the streets. Shit, it's been downhill ever since Onika said she was a star. "Moscow" blows. "Stupid Hoe" sucks. And I guess your latest "Starships" will get you some Top 40 love like "Super Bass", but what a waste. I get it, you're more focused on becoming a pop icon like Madonna than a female G Rap in his prime. But boy do we miss the girl who murdered The Throne on that "Monster" tune. Hey, I'm all for evolution. But no more audio pollution. I hope your Hit-Boy joint knocks.
Lin is a winner. Just like you. Put a sock in it, Champ. Our Asian is amazing. #Knicks

“Rutgers University’s Department of Women Studies offers the course.”…Drake go sign up for class.
This is what a college degree entails nowadays?
ass
wow the only reason why I would want to take this class is to see how irrelevant it is to a college degree and to prove the point that people who take this class are probably ignorant enough to think they’re learning about Beyonce’s history
I used to go to that elementary school. They always got famous people to visit it. I’m a senior now.
that shit craay .. congrats bey ,, man that nigga jay is fuckin lucky
obviously none of you are in/ or went to college. sounds like a damn good elective
Where’s the backshot to this pic???
@e haha exactly
Shes looks like a white girl
broad is bad
Good post e.
You’d be surprised at how good some of these electives are. Considering that the professor is looking on her societal influence, it could turn out to be a good course. None of you were bashing the college system when Georgetown taught a course on Jay-Z. Plenty of schools have non-traditional classes such as the Wire being taught at Harvard as well as other schools.
And it doesn’t cost 40K to go to Rutgers. Its a state school. You all sound salty as hell.
@Hecate… If anything, my dear sweet illiterate cherub, it can teach you how to form a grammatically correct sentence to get your disdain across.
And you, @TacoKillah, it’s YOU’RE… YOU ARE… not YOUR.
LOLOLOL weirdos
beyonce you go and do you fuck the muthafucking haters
