2Pac Coachella 2012 Performance

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg closed out the Coachella Music And Arts Festival last night with a bang. During their set, Snoop performed alongside a hologram of the late 2Pac. Surreal right? Wouldn’t be surprised if this sparked a trend at other live shows.

On another note, YN was down there and captured his experience with the HTC One. Check out some of his pics after the jump.

Only ppl that find this classless are old ass niggas thats scared of technology. This shit was dope! Classic! Im not saying bring every artist back from the dead but to be able to see basically 2 Pac perform live had to have brought tears to a couple faces. This shit was groundbreaking! Hip Hop does it again!

If you dont like this, yall one of the niggas that prolly still use flip phones and thinks every technological advancement is the government tryna spy on us or some shit. Old ass dudes on this site.

  18. Tucq says:

That was tighta than a muhfucca

  19. Donn says:

Im pretty sure Dre and SNoop’s hearts were in the right places for doing this, they do this in Japan alot, so its not necessarily groundbreaking but to see Pac on stage like that was crazy, kinda weird and surreal. Like it kinda freaked me out cus the whole time I was like yo, that shit just look too real lol. I’m pretty sure Pac cud sell out arenas as a hologram lol. I just hope ppl don’t start dickriding this concept on award shows cus its gonna get played real fast.

  20. lilrizq says:

yeah dog this was kinda haunting, lol. i’m have nightmares… still that was pretty surreal. #2pacBack… now look at this music video of me and my dudes.

DOIN’ TRIBUTES IS ONE THING, BUT DOIN’ SOME HOLOGRAM SHIT OF A MURDERED MAN FOR STYLE POINTS TO ME IS CLASSLESS, TASTELESS, AND OVER THE LINE!!!!

    @mac DIESEL

youre obviously borderline retarded so i can understand why you dont understand very basic things like this…but this was done as a tribute. so go fuck yourself on any point youre trying to get across, i will hate on your opinion you stupid motherfucker. its basically the same thing as paying for a video of him performing but this gives you the feeling of actually being there in the venue seein him perform

  25. mac DIESEL says:

  26. teejay says:

did they not do california love?

  27. cz says:

so you admit that youre point made no fuckin sense and the only way you can try to defend yourself is by throwing out random insults…cool, your opinion still blows absolute nut

  28. YOU CAN'T KILL ME says:

HOPEFULLY YOU’LL GET IT SMALL FRY!!!! MAYBE IF U GROW A BRAIN ONE DAY, THEN MAYBE YOU’LL SEE SHIT IN A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE!!!! UNTIL THEN, EAT A DICK SLOW!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  31. dopeaom says:

@mac DIESEL Y U MAD. It’s not for their own amusement or financial benefit. They did a tribute and something many Pac fans, me included, can only dream of now that he is dead. Of course not everyone should be allowed to use Pac’s or any other artist’s image whenever and however they want. But it’s Snoop and Dre we’re talking about, the dudes he was close with, except for that beef with Dre, but they still made good music together and made more then a few classics. To see them perform California Love would be crazy and I’m sure Afeni wouldn’t mind, they probably did ask her too.
Holograms are the future, like it or not, it’s just about whether the use is proper or not, and in this case it certainly is.

  32. The Guy says:

    jonnybusiness you a pussy

  33. lll says:

    That was some scary shit…

  34. Kemosabi says:

Cosign Mac. You missed the point if you think it’s a new school old school shit. Cause I’m no old head i just have some sense that some fuck niggas lack. That isn’t respecting the dead it’s making obscene amount of money and promo exploiting the dead. He been gone for over 15 years now let him be. Let the work he actually left on earth (and not the shit they been mixing and putting together posthumous) be what he’s remembered for. Exploiting a dead man smh some more

  35. dopeaom says:

@Kemosabi Tupac wasn’t even announced as being there, therefore not a single fan spent money expecting to see Pac, but they gave it to see Snoop, Dre and others. Pac was just a ”surprise guest” of sort, and a gift to the fans.
Of course he shouldn’t be exploited, but there was no exploiting here, just giving the fans something unexpected and pleasant for many Pac fans in the audience, and a lesson to those who didn’t know who Pac was.

  36. mac DIESEL says:

    @ dopeaom

HOW IS IT A TRIBUTE??? DID PAC EVER PERFORM AT COACHELLA??? WAS IT PAC’S BIRTHDAY???? WAS IT THE ANNIVERSARY OF PAC’S DEATH??? TRIBUTES ARE BASED ON THOSE QUESTIONS I JUST ASKED!!!! DRE AND SNOOP THOUGHT IT WOULD BE COOL IDEA JUST TO GET THE CROWD HYPED!!!! IT DON’T MATTER IF THEY KNEW PAC OR NOT, THERE’S SHIT THAT U JUST DON’T DO!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  37. cz says:

how did they really make money off tupacs image? the show woulda been sold out even if they didnt have the hologram. its giving people something cool to see at a concert during a tribute. if they make a habit of doing it and/or make a 2pac hologram tour id agree with you guys…but thats not whats fuckin happening. they are respecting the dead, its not like they dug 2pac up and were dangling the decomposed body on stage like a puppet or some shit, they just have a recorded performace of him that they managed to put into 3D using technology, its the same fuckin thing as playing a video of him but this shit looks crazy to us because its not technology were used to seeing yet

  38. dopeaom says:

@mac DIESEL It doesn’t have to be his birthday, or anniversary or whatever in order for something to be a tribute. A tribute is when you do something in honor of someone’s work and image. And that’s exactly what they did, they paid a tribute to Pac’s music by giving the fans his performance.

Just a simple question, would it be different if they had only played one of Pac’s videos?
To me the only difference is in fans having more of a feel of Pac being there, while videos you’ve seen hundreds of times wouldn’t produce any effect in me.

  39. cz says:

and why should you have to have a reason to pay tribute to one of the greatest of all time during times like right now, where most rap sucks and itd do some good for the kids to hear some pac and what real hip-hop sounds like

  40. cz says:

in conclusion mac diesel go shove some fat cocks down your throat till you choke, your opinion just got murdered…and it was a hate crime

  41. mac DIESEL says:

    @ dopeaom

IT’S JUST TIRED SEEIN’ THESE SO-CALLED “TRIBUTES” OF PAC!!!! TIRED OF SEEIN’ RAPPERS USIN’ PAC WHENEVER THEY FEEL LIKE IT SO THEIR SHOWS OR SONGS CAN SOUND DOPE!!!! AFENI SHAKUR REALLY NEEDS TO STOP GREEN LIGHTIN’ CERTAIN SHIT!!!! TO ME, THIS WAS NOT CONSIDERED A TRIBUTE!!!! I WAS JUST AN IDEA SOMEONE CAME UP WIT FOR THE SNOOP AND DRE SET!!!! WHAT’S NEXT, U GONNA BRING OUT THE URN??? I MEAN, IS THIS NIGGA EVER GONNA REST IN PEACE??? AT SOME POINT, U GOTTA RESPECT THE DEAD AND LET THEM BE!!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  44. cz says:

first of all, “is this nigger ever gonna rest in piece?” the dudes dead, theyre isnt an afterlife and if you think there is youre even more stupid than i thought. why the fuck did 2pac record music when he was alive if he didnt want people to hear it when he was gone, how the fuck else are people gonna promote 2pac to the youth, which sounds better to you, here kids go listen to this album of a dead guy while sitting in a room by yourself…or you can watch a fuckin hologram perfromance of this gangster ass lookin motherfucker with legends that are still alive

  45. loch121 says:

This is crazy.RIP Pac.This was spooky, but ill.I could see this hologram shit being used in many ways. You could have a show w/ Elvis,Mike Jack,James Brown, and The Beatles. You can do a tour from a studio or your house.Crazy

  49. Pimpinbitch says:

    sick az hell.dope

  50. Black Shady says:

    AMAZING!

  51. dopeaom says:

@mac DIESEL First of all there’s a difference between Snoop and Dre performing a song with Pac which they’ve actually recorded while smoking blunts together somewhere in a studio, and ”tributes” in the likes of Rick Ross’ song or any other rapper either naming his song after Pac or using his vocal. Those rappers are raping Pac’s name and legacy in order to get attention, this right here is not the case and can never be considered the same.

And Pac is dead, he IS RESTING in peace. Even if there is afterlife and he can see us from above, he can only be happy that his legacy lives on. That’s what every true artist works for, to have his legacy live on long after they’re dead. And holograms are just another way of preserving his legacy. It’s as wrong as saving vocal recordings or video clips of Pac on a CD.

And to end the conclusion, what’s better, to have Pac, the LEGEND, perform and teach those kids some real good rap, or to let another wannabe rapper up on that stage and let him scream some ignorant shit and dumb down the audience even more. I’ll take Pac any time.

  52. onanigga says:

I hope only those who rolled with pac when he was alive use this technology, pac would spin in his grave if the fake ass ross did this.

  53. NZO says:

I SEE A BIGGIE AND PAC WORLD TOUR COMING OFF THIS SHIT.. LOL

  54. mac DIESEL says:

    @ dopeaom

I JUST THINK THE HOLOGRAM SHIT WAS A BIT MUCH!!!! IT WASN’T NECESSARY!!!! AND IT AIN’T GOT NOTHIN’ TO DO WITH NEW TECHNOLOGY, OLD NIGGA YOUNG NIGGA!!!! IT’S ABOUT HOW FAR ARE PEOPLE WILLING TO GO TO KEEP A NAME OR LEGACY ALIVE!!!! THERE SHOULD BE A LIMIT!!!! THIS WILL BE MORE ABOUT HOLOGRAMS, LATE NITE HOLOGRAM SPOOF JOKES, AND DRE AND SNOOP THAN TUPAC SHAKUR!!!! THAT’S THE SAD PART SINCE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE “ALL ABOUT PAC”!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  55. teejay says:

The hologram costs $10 million. Unless coachella paid them $10 million and one dollar, they didn’t make money.

  57. Niyemortal says:

The hologram was dope, but I hope people realize its not new, Gorillaz, and Madonna to name a couple have done this before……

  58. TRUTH says:

THEY SHOULDA DID CALI LOVE….AND WHAT THEY DIDN’T TELL YOU IS THEY ARE MAKING A MICHEAL JACKSON HOLOGRAM TOO AND HIM AND PAC WAS GONNA GO ON TOUR. AND YOUR ALL GONNA PAY FOR IT! HOLOGRAM CONCERTS….THE WAY OF THE FUTURE??

  59. gaz says:

This was great, do you think 2pacs soul cant rest somwhere because of this you retards, what the fuck do you mean let him rest in peace; being dead is preety fucking peaceful, pac would love this, he wanted people to remember him as a legend, look at his lyrics, he wanted all of those alive theories to happen and keep his name alive, there is nothing negative about this.

  60. Kemosabi says:

@dopeaom good points. I think if you watched the news and seen a paper this am though you’d notice this is all the conversation. which is money in it’s self. I wouldnt be surprised to see DVDs and other shit being sold in the near future. All I’m saying is for me I think it was tasteless but to play devils advocate I can see why fans wouldn’t see it the same way I do.

  66. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

    Smh wow !

  67. Tedd says:

Alot folks want to defend this for some reason or whatever. I definitely see both sides. But folks talking bout this the future blah blah blah. Nigga holograms aren’t new. I get being excited to see pac perform, cool but being excited about holograms being new technology is lame. Were y’all lames excited when AI did a hologram of Elvis YEARS ago? Or when japan does it? Nope cause its just a hologram. They aren’t that special. Or new. And pac isn’t an artist that has ever been irrelevant. Even this generation is well aware of him and his music. A hologram isn’t needed to help his music. Be serious

  73. Word says:

Ok I understand @macs points a bit but these aint random ass dudes. This is Dre and Snoop. If there were a couple ppl in this world that Pac wouldve let manage his image and music after his death, its Dre and Snoop. They always had his best interest…they were friends and all that. It got everybody hype. It was fun to see. I think its harmless.

  74. purpleworld says:

Best shit eva!!!!!!!!!! too bad BIGGIE is to fat for one of thosez!!!!

  75. Kippers says:

That whole set was essentially a celebration of both their 20 year careers and both of ’em sticking with each other. (There was a big shout out about it near the start). Pac was a part of that so it was fitting that Pac deserved to be recognised as well. There’s no difference between letting Hail Mary play for 4 minutes on a dark stage or having a visual to go with it. Same thing, better to look at.

  76. 2pacback says:

The only way they can top them selves next week is if 50 and game preform with each other

  80. non says:

    @ mac diesel
Look, your perspective on this hologram use is asinine. You think snoop and dre are using This hologram for style points? Have you forgotten that they ARE snoop and dre? Why the fuck would they need a tupac halogram for everyone to be on their dicks? Can you not see that those two are legends themselves? The Tupac halogram was just something to show the world of someone we have lost dearly. Where do you see that as a sign of disrespect? See if Soulja had a tupac halogram at his concert i see where you would be getting at. But this is fucking snoop dogg. How the fuck are you gonna say hes disrespecting his own homie just by standing beside the damn thing? Youre an idiot and i think you should just gtfo outa this site. People dont hate youre opinion they just dislike you.

  81. JADatsyuk says:

Hey, I heard if you type in all CAPS, it makes you’re opinion better….DON”T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!! Dumbass fuckin coon. Get above a middle school education.

  82. darkcaesar says:

“they take greats from the past and compare us, i wonder if they’d ever survive in this era”- drake

  83. Izzyrollz says:

    @mac DIESEL

Hey mac take your dick out of your ass and stop being such a sensitive bitch.
Pac left the world wanting more haven’t you read all the posts on you tube people actually cried or felt touched by that performance. It was fuckin tight and everyone but YOU including his mom were very excited to see PAC come back to the world. Just look at snoops FACe. Mathafakaaaaa
Yous the kind of ni%%a PAC was talking about Pussy ass Ni$$A. Biacth

  84. ODC says:

    the West-coast stay winning.

    they do every thing first.

  85. ultrakid says:

kinda agree with @mac DIESEL on this one. i mean, dont get me wrong -it was cool as fuck to tribute 2pac like that, but i see it as more of something dre did to keep himself trending, and to get some more publicity to make up for his current lack of musical presence in the game, BUT if thats what dr dre wanted thats what he got (NOT HATIN’ GOOD SHOW THO)

  86. nymfo says:

I love when people argue with mac diesel, it’s like fighting a wall. No matter if you’re right or wrong (usually anything opposite of that dude is right) you’ll only get aggravated by him. Seriously mac diesel puts don’t hate my opinion at the end of everything he puts cuz he knows people aren’t gonna like it. Dude is the RR troll

  87. pienman says:

damn…damn! that looked jus like pac…. i bet that shit was cool seeing him live on stage performing as if he was still with us…

his movements … the voice was jus authetic

  88. Kemosabi says:

And now that they’re talking a tour of the deceased great like I predicted. Any thoughts? Cause now I’m definitely standing on opinion I said this shit on Monday that they were gonna try and profit hard from this.

  89. j says:

Lame! And I am not even a fan of Tupac.
