DJ Red Alert Final 98.7 Kiss FM Mix

After 30 years on air, New York’s 98.7 Kiss FM ended their run this weekend. The station was the the first to adopt a hip-hop format. DJ Red Alert had been with Kiss since since its early days and gave his final mix Saturday night. After the jump, read his message lifted from his Facebook page.

    Nothing more then legendary. If you’re CLUELESS on who Red Alert is, watch some Hip-Hop documentaries on Netflix or that documentary about A Tribe Called Quest. You’ll get a better understanding and respect for who this man REALLY IS!

    When i was a kid, Kiss FM was responsible for teaching me about the BDP Juice Crew wars. I recorded on cassette every Friday and Faturday. Red Alet went beserk on Saturday’s and Chuck Chillout of Friday’s…#THEGLORIOUSDAYSAREGONE

    I grew up on Kiss and BLS from way back in the day. Radio used to be so great before corporations took over. Each region and individual radio stations had their own styles and programming was based on what the listeners and DJs wanted hear and play. As a result, you never felt like the same five songs were constantly being shoved down your throat.
