Your “people” called his “people”…and we calling that “reachin out” now? Come on b. I’m not buying that bridge you selling in idaho homie.

  2. ColoradoKnight says:

Lupe is looking like a cross between Dwayne Wayne and Tracy Chapman? Ha!

  3. Marko-V says:

It’s not a better song than the original so really so what.

    @remarkoble1

  4. mac DIESEL says:

IF THEY REACHED OUT TO PETE ROCK, IS PETE ROCK’S BEEF WIT THE “PRODUCERS” ABOUT NOT ADDNIG ANYTHING SIGNIFICANT TO THE TRACK AND TAKIN’ CREDIT FOR IT??? THIS STORY IS GETTIN’ MORE INTERESTING!!!!

…….AND THESE MORNING RIOT NIGGAS ALWAYS SOUND LIKE DICKRIDERS!!!! THEY MUSTA WENT TO THE YN SCHOOL OF DICKRIDING!!!! HA!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  5. Yap says:

He talked in circles forever, and NEVER ONCE actually said that he had spoken to Pete Rock. NEVER ONCE said that anybody in his camp had spoken to Pete Rock. NEVER ONCE said that he had personally even sent a text, made a call, hit him up on Twitter, ANYTHING. All he said was that Warner cleared it, so of course, like a TRUE artist, he… made a backroom deal with his record label and cut the originator out of the loop.

Culture Vulture. Lupe Fiasco has sold out so pathetically badly that even when he tries to manipulate the masses into thinking he’s paying homage to classic hiphop, he doesn’t even think about paying his personal homage first. Disgusting.

PS- The Show Goes On and Words I Never Said were the songs that he said the label forced onto LASERS. Well, guess what, Lupe. EVERY OTHER SONG ON THERE SUCKS. We can possibly make an exception for All Black Everything, but that’s YOUR music that people hated. Stop trying to blame everything on the label.

  6. DJAR says:

@YAP what interview you been listening to??? He says his people reached out and got the clearence

  7. ^ says:

Isn’t that like really, really obviously bullshit, though? Pete Rock obviously didn’t clear it personally, why Lupe trying to lie like that?

  8. Yap says:

He says that his people “reached out” and he repeats that phrase about a thousand times, like somehow it’s code for “he didn’t return my calls”. Then when they asked if Pete Rock said yes, he says “yea” really awkwardly (because he was blatantly lying), mumbled for about 20 seconds, and then points out the Warner label at the bottom of the artwork.

Nowhere was there any indication of an actual conversation between Lupe and Pete Rock. Clearing shit with a label is not the same thing as clearing it with an artist. And unless Pete Rock has some kind of spastic Alzheimer’s, Lupe’s lying straight up and down about him being cool with it.

  9. TROLLING says:

LUPE SHOULD BECOME A PRIEST AND QUIT RAPPING… ALL HIS MUSIC IS RELIGIOUS BULLSHIT

  10. JB says:

    @YAP

Lupe didn’t even sample. He used live instruments such as a real saxophone player

  11. Yap says:

How fucking retarded could you possibly be?

  12. JB says:

    Stfu

The producer of the track said so

  13. wise-up says:

y’all niggaz comprehending skills suck, did you not hear dude say “we” reached out to him. He didn’t say no camp or anything of that nature, also he acknowledged that he wouldn’t have did that track without asking Pete Rock because of the magnitude of the record. And to you music “experts” if you have a good ear you can tell the sax in the beat is a live instrument and not a sample from “Tom Scott” so the proper word would be “rendition” from Tom Scott. I really don’t see the problem… the resume of Lupe Fiasco and his conscious views should give him the authority to try some shit like this ain’t like Future took the shit and called it P.L.U.T.O.!!!

  14. pienman says:

damn…. we gotta get this squared away homie

  15. Yap says:

I seriously could not give less of a shit if he sampled it, played it live or had a homeless dude beatbox the fuckin thing; that’s entirely beside the point. There’s absolutely no way you can look at that song as anything other than directly related to Pete Rock’s work. Whether he’s trying to pay homage or pimp it is up to interpretation; but from over here it looks like Lupe has no intentions of actually showing any respect or appreciation.

  16. Phonte says:

Check Pete’s twitter. He just tweeted he got off the phone with Lupe. They made up, and collab coming soon ha.

  17. EMCEE COMPANY says:

ARE WE REALLY ARGUING ABOUT THE SAMPLE? REALLY? PETE ROCK IS BUGGING OVER A SAMPLE WHEN THATS ALL HE DOES! HE ACTS LIKE HE MADE THE ORIGINAL TRACK. IF ANYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO GET MAD, ITS TOM SCOTT. SMH @ PETE ROCK.

I SAY WE STOP ARGUING ABOUT A SAMPLE THAT DOESN’T EVEN BELONG TO PETE ROCK & START CELEBRATING THE RETURN OF THE REAL LUPE!

  18. Soul Position says:

Fuck the haters! Lupe is one of the most talented MC’s of the 2000’s. Fuck you pussies! Go and listen to 2 Chainz you faggots!

  19. […] please on the use of his song in Lupe’s new release “Around My Way“. After Lupe addressed the subject, the two chatted up
