  3. britothe says:

    dude got talent

  4. B.Dot says:

    ^
I know what Thw Walkin Truth means. Keef is trash. But Joey can obviously rap. But he could (and most likely will) develop better song writing abilties.

  5. deez says:

and hipster is a word too loosely thrown around nowadays, what defines a hipster, some1 who skates likes music, art, weed, lol thats pretty much everyone nowadays, i feel like hipster is term that some old salty fuck who’s outta touch with todays society, came up with because rap isn’t “gangster” no more..so you old fucks need a word to describe the young bucks coming up that you just dont relate to cuz your seperated by decades..

  6. deez says:

yeah b.dot you know what he means, cuz you most likely wrote that comment..

  7. deez says:

lolll b.dot im pretty sure his mixtape was more so about bringing that authentic hip hop feel back, not about making radio friendly singles like your buddies william roberts and robert williams..

  8. B.Dot says:

    ^
there’s nothing wrong with “bringing that authentic hip hop feel back”. But that doesnt mean the rhymes have ramble on and the beat have to be laid back. Clearly the kid can spit.

  9. Siy@ says:

THE KID IS JUST DOPE PERIOD … THE 1ST COMMENTER AND B-DOT R TALKIN NONSENSE, CLASSIC CASE OF “WHEN TRYNA BE SMART” GOES WRONG.

JOEY U JUST GOT YOSELF A FAN IN SOUTH AFRICA IN ME … IM GONA DOWNLAOD A COPY OF YOUR MIXTAPE N PUT IT OUT THERE TO THE MASS’Z.

  10. VAE says:

I been listening to hip hop since the 90’s and aint too impressed with most of these new guys but I been bumping that tape since it came out for a 16 – 17 year old and for a first official mixtape dude done his thing

  11. Sc_R says:

Damn niggas so quick to attack a comment as negative dude said he probably will be dope y’all wanna give him the crown off top let the lil nigga grow and as he does shit like this post gon help him

  12. Donn says:

    THIS KID IS THE TRUTH

I agree with BDot that music can have some format but at the same time not ALL music. Not every artist has to follow a certain format. If Joey Badass is happy being a freestyle type lyrical rapper then why should he conform. Maybe he doesn’t want radio play, maybe he doesn’t want plaques. Maybe he just wants to be heard. I think HipHop is balanced out right now and I am a big fan of this kid and I know some ppl who know him and he’s a cool dude.

  13. Trillionaire says:

this kid is on to something…its was aight

  14. Doug Heffernan says:

LOL at “Better song writing ability”

He reminds me of mf DOOM,there’s nothing worng with going mainstream but he clearly doesn’t want to radio friendly songs.

Why on rapradar y’all give praise and hate on young rappers, but give garbage niggas like 2 CHAINZ and French montana props?

  15. Real Talk. says:

    This cat got next.

  16. ronner says:

    rapreplay.com!

  17. deez says:

    @dougheffernan chuuuuuuuuurch..

  18. deez says:

its because they on that payola, it got them liking them raps written wit crayola..( french montana voice)lmao

  19. Killa says:

I agree with B.Dot and The Walking Truth on this. Vid is dope kid is dope too. Unfortunately in this hiphop climate you have to be ready to have a chart topping single to really blow. Prime example Jay Elect one of the dopest to do it, but that album won’t see the light of day unless jayz feels he has a single from him. But if fans went out more and supported these artist they loved the 1999 mix tape could have very well ended up on iTunes and in major retailers…GO SUPPORT OUR CULTURE AND WE WILL REAP THE BENEFITS, more jobs and better music!

  20. eastpointvet says:

what b.dot says makes a lot of sense. he not downing the kid he said over and over he can spit. knowing song structure has nothing to do with trying to make something radio friendly it has to do with making something the audience can follow properly. even jay will tell you hot reasonable doubt structured vs how he makes songs now is totally different. kinda like what the dream was saying in the clip in studio with pusha T how a lot of rappers dont know ok here we need a hook here we need a bridge and so forth. the kid is nice no question he just saying he needs work and at 17 who cant agree on that even if the music is nice it will get better

  21. atbigtherm says:

First off, I just heard about Joey less than a week ago and I’m a fan. BIG fan.

Second, I feel what niggas is saying about having to write a song, but I’m sorry, that’s completely unnecessary in today’s world. Did you see his show? He made good money off of that. He’s 17 and I’m sure he made more in one night at that show that most of ya’ll make in a month.
You don’t have to have a big ass commercial hit or a string of hits. You can have a fan base and get paid good money. You don’t need commercial success to sell your own music, to be known globally, to get your song on itunes or to make money.
So as far as I’m concerned, he can keep doing what he’s doing. I LOVE the way his shit is right now and I’m sure he’ll grow into a better artist. He doesn’t have to have a superstar’s status. He can run his own company and make very good bread without the majors. Period.

  22. seef says:

This kid is the fucking truth. i hope he blows the fuck up. so nice to hear that 90’s sound again.

  23. B.Dot says:

And im not saying he has to make a “radio song”. I see potential. im just talking about constructing his songs better.

  24. YoungGHustler says:

he brought me back in the 90’s

  25. DAT WHITE NIGGA says:

THIS KID IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS TO HAPPEN TO THE GAME IN A LONG TIME. SEE A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR HIM. HOPE HE KEEPS IT UP.

  26. HUSTLE&FLOW says:

I have been listening to the 1999 for 4 days straight now and i can honestly say that this kid is talented period. I was skeptical about copping the mixtape glad i did ..lil homie can spit and thats a fact..he reminds me of a younger jcole or even nas ..anyway you look at it he’s legit and his whole pro era squad can rhyme ..too ..only time will tell if the masses agree

  27. ifeelYoung says:

I personally like even Joeys style and clothing in some videos.. he dont use fucking tight red jeans and OBEY snapbacks or shiny jordans.. B.Dot keep posting Joey and his movement.. help him out. world needs this.

  28. calamitycal says:

I look forward to seeing some new talent coming and some may be great.
