After Chris Rock’s statement on rappers killing their careers once going into film, Com fires back stating when he’s doing music, the music is his main focus. Com surely proved just that with his last album.
it wasnt no hating…chris was speaking the truth. you got to give it ur all to create a masterpiece…or at least give the fans the best that u have to offer

I don’t think rappers “kill their careers” when they get into movies. Nor am I against it, but too many rappers choosing are the Will Smith path, and fall short. Ice cube has been the only rapper to balance both careers without loosing focus.
50 did start slipping once he focused on other ventures, but 50 was never really the “super lyrical” dude to begin with. Plus, with the way he came in, he was bound to be on his way out soon. Fif was just super smart on how he exited stage left. Can’t knock him for being smart with his hustle.
Chris was right but, Common is still a dope MC and has managed to stay dope unlike most.

Music doesn’t pay like it used to. Only a handful, like Lil Wayne, Kanye, Jay Z…. make serious money filling Stadiums.
I think music & film, movies all go hand & hand. You can touch many of lives like Nas & DMX did with “Belly”. The plot & meaning was there, Eminem’s 8 mile was another good example….
