Q-Tip Hints At Cruel Winter Album

G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer has only been out for a few weeks. But on the red carpet of last night’s BET Hip-Hop Awards, Q-Tip insinuates to MTV that a possible follow-up may arrive next.

“I know, I know, I’m sorry about that but I have to let the cat out of the bag. Kanye’s probably gonna get…If there’s a

    Firs…ooooooh damn!!!!

  2. D Twice says:

So thats where they put all the good tracks.

  3. Frank the Tank says:

    CRUEL MILLENNIUM, FUCK EVERYTHING ELSE.
Ye better keep putting the Wu on, they’re bringing the best verses.

  4. Co-signing, Frank, MORE WU!!!

Might as well holla at Andre and Kendrick, too…

  5. Loaded says:

so with all the push backs we can expect

    Cruel Winter – Summer 2013 ?

    lmao

  6. mshann718 says:

Lmao @ D Twice & Loaded. I was disappointed with the push backs & the tracks. The hottest song other than the leaks is “The One.”

  7. MJ says:

cruel summer in fall, so im guessing cruel winter durring spring

  8. veesky says:

If they do this, I hope they don’t hype it up like they did “Cruel Summer”. That’s part of what added to the disappointment. So, if this is real…it could drop anytime between December and March. I won’t hold my breath

  9. swap says:

@mshan718 i disagree, ‘The one’ could’ve been great song but 2 chainz fucked it completely up the only good verse was kanye’s and Marsha ambrosa. the best song besides the singles was ‘The morning’, and Ghostface addition to NGF

  10. big steve says:

multiple compilations? i think they saved the best for fall, hudson and q tip and mos def on this one too

  11. IIG says:

Kanye’s verse on Clique is the highlight of Cruel Summer.

  12. Frank the Tank says:

Ghostface and Raekwon’s verses are the highlights of Cruel Summer.

  13. yesssir says:

says the guy who’s verses didn’t make the final cut for “Cruel Summer”?

  14. Dashing says:

Cyhi did his thing on Cruel Summer too. “Sin City” is a dope record. Sounds like it could have fit on a Kanye album.

If they do actually make a Cruel Winter, I’d like it to be a little more Q-Tip ,Common and Cyhi and Pusha (i.e. actual lyricists) and less Big Sean and 2 Chainz focused. Plus they should make it longer. It’s got a massive crew and only 12 songs (1 of which is a Cudi solo record, 1 of which is an R&B record) . That don’t make any damn sense.

    And fewer features.

Why do Jadakiss, Chief Keef, Raekwon, Ghostface, R Kelly and Mase each have more time on the album than Common and Q-Tip combined?

  15. Cz says:

I hoping that he just meant they’re gonna drop a lot of stuff this winter, not another compilation album with half the track list being garbage

  16. D Twice says:

Yeah they should just do some good fridays this winter cause those were way better than the album.

  17. Midsize Jerm says:

That would explain a LOT. Cruel Summer felt like an incomplete effort, and if they deliver another product of equal, or hopefully higher, quality then it will feel like a finished product. As it is they are trying to stick too many people on the album/s to let everyone get their proper shine. If they’re gonna have features outside of G.O.O.D. then there isn’t enough room for everybody from G.O.O.D. to fit on one album…plus, there has been mention of a few other tracks, including one with the same line-up as “Mercy” that was supposed to come out, now mysteriously missing. As long as they saved a few of the better tracks for the Cruel Winter album it can be a major success. If it comes out soon they don’t need to do a lot to generate buzz for it, just drop one hot track and then drop the album, no need to drop half the album before it comes out. Plus, that little film Kanye made for the project has yet to surface, so perhaps Cruel Winter will be it’s home. I’ll be happy to hear more tracks from the G.O.O.D. regardless. I hope to see more Common, Cudi, Pusha and Cyhi,, and maybe even a Cage feature. The production was solid on Cruel Summer, tho it was a bit on the poppier side, so if they can do a more street side for Cruel Winter then the two will compliment each other perfectly.

Cruel Winter will turn into Cruel Spring

  19. Nathaniel says:

maybe i thought cruel summer was dope because i wasn’t expecting hip hop purism. i was expecting melodies galore, singing, distorted vocals, robustly produced tracks, and something unlike anything i’d really heard before… oh, a kanye west production.

i guess it ain’t for everybody. but i wasn’t unhappy with any of the songs, nor the sequencing. it all made sense to me, especially given the progression of kanye’s artistic direction since after graduation. GOOD Music is a label, not a group. seems like some people dislike the joint just because it appears trendy to. anything ye quarterbacks, you have to spend time with to understand or appreciate. it’s not like a wu release, where you already know exactly what you’re gonna hear before you pop it in. i love rae and ghost, but there hasn’t been much growth in them niggas shit sense 96. ghost said it himself.

  20. EMCEE COMPANY says:

HIGHLIGHT OF “CRUEL SUMMER” IS CYHI’S VERSE ON “SIN CITY”. OVERALL DOPE ALBUM (GOTTA REMEMBER IT IS A COLLABORATION ALBUM, NOT SOLO. JUDGE IT AS SUCH.)

BUT I WOULDN’T MIND HEARING CYHI, COMMON, & PUSHA ON SOME Q-TIP / NO I.D. PRODUCED TRACKS. #JustSayin
