“I think it does” same damn answer
But I agree with you that the rappers in the 90′s being mainstream at that time
Every city and it’s artist’s outside MIA/ATL have this problem
Does it really matter ??
Why does Elliott even bother with these videos? At the end of them, he gives the most politically correct answer he can so that he doesn’t step on anyones toes. If the point of these is the “truth”, then actually say it. But all it looks like is Elliott seeing an oppourtunity to talk about the hot topic of the moment that people are looking for just to gain exposure while keeping all parties involved satisfied. Can’t even back up your own blogger when he is right. B. Dot speaks the truth!!!
@TOMMY
YES!!!!! I gwt that same feeling every time i watch this.
No they are not sporting artists in general the way they should , and yes it does matter.
Radio is a business and always has been. It’s about money and promo and the little man has been squeezed out a while ago.I do think out of state music gets a lot of play on NY radio.ATL and NY play the same songs and half are ATL artists
Loch – 50 Cent Ft. Eminem and Adam Levine My Life Freestyle http://bit.ly/ZbXPdQ
Yea, a lot of the maintream is garbage.
come on son!!!! as much as i like Rosenbergs show because he does play Real Hip Hop its on like 1am nobody listens so it might as well not be there. Songs like Waves by joey badass should be on the radio daily. The only reason why Trinidad James is poppin is because people played it 100 times and it stuck. How about Hot 97 do the same. Radio especially hot 97 sucks because they support everybody else and nobody keeps it real including this video about the lack of NY hip hop that gets played there apart from the obvisious songs lie Pop that and She dont put it down like you.
Elliot keep it real if they played enough NY hip hop this wouldnt be a debate!!!
Can’t believe some people waste their time watching these videos
Does NY Hip Hop Get Enough Support From Hot 97?
I personally think no. But it isn’t just them. To be honest i don’t see many people supporting New York. But there’s a new generation of people who are listening to urban music now and a lot of them have grown up hearing down south music and that’s what they want, so people give it to them. I grew up on 90′s New York and West Coast music and don’t really like a lot of this south music because most of it is aimed at young kids.
Meyhem Lauren just dropped his 2nd dope mixtape of the year and this site hasn’t posted it
Roc Marciano dropped a fucking dope album to rave reviews but this site hasn’t posted nothing
havent even listened yet, but lemme guess what Ellioit says “Yeah, i think it does get support from hot97″….,
YO, what happen to YN???
I need u to go back to ur XXL days, when u didn’t give a fuck what mofos thought about u. U used to tell it like it was. Smh @ this pc shit.
FUCK THE RADIO!!!
@HB Correct

Bars, chorus, bars, chorus has to stick to the mind. Simple. Either you construct your song like this, or you don’t. A hit has an catchy, almost hypnotizing chorus, it won’t leave your mind. No conscious artist does this, none. Last song I can remember that did was Superstar by Lupe. Doesn’t matter what the content is.
i think it does. new best saying
B.dot started a storm on the internet with 24 RT’s ? lool comon
You a sucka ass loosing mutha fucka if u still listening to radio
LOL @ YN afraid to ruffle any feathers, always riding the fence. At least B-Dot has the balls to say what he thinks. I don’t agree with him most of the time, but at least he isn’t a pussy.
ITID – #ITID the newest hashtag thanks to Elliot “I think it does” Wilson
#RadioRevolution
I agree with dude up top.. Down south they show love to every artist. I live in SC now every time I turn on the radio they’re trynna break in a local act. I
Nobody from NY is poppin right now…Except weak ass A$AP Rocky but he sounds like a southern rapper so he doesn’t count.
NY rappers don’t have the talent to become crossover appeal artist while keeping their original fanbase.Hip-Hop snobs only like Joey Badass because he sounds like a dreams come true for them.Personally Joey Badass is the most boring rapper I’ve heard this year beside Action Bronson.
Most of these niggas on blogs that are complaining are Hip-Hop snobs that’s mad as hell everybody getting on except NY for once.
Who cares about NYC so much?
ATLANTA and MIAMI and HOUSTON STAY breaking local acts.
Its NYC that is behind the times.
This nigga is forcing bullshit on us too, Trinidad James?!
They’re trying to intentionally kill Hiphop to try to bring back Rock n Roll which has been dead for years.
fuck HOT 97 &Funkmaster Flex, they are the clowns who play all that bullshit music. Hip Hop isn’t on the radio anymore. it’s on the internet and you have to hand pick what you listen to these days.
Classic..”yeah i think it does”…same answer every video
@ Tokkah Truth! we have the same problem here in Buf
my thing is why are yall only bashing hot97??? power 105 is that small time in yall eyes that they dont even get acknowledged???
i know bdot fucks wit power 105 and them, but they claim to be the new kingpins right? they dont even have a sunday night show like rosenberg does, they dont have anything remotely close to it.
so i guess yall have a problem wit hot97 cuz they are the best station hands down, so u expect more from them? or u just bashing one station and not the other, and that in my eyes makes u no different than them, u pickin and choosing who u wanna get at for a whole nother motive, not the motive that u speak of. is this really about the music, or bashing hot97 making ya boys at power look good by not calling them out as well.
this is biased reporting. at first it was ok, but weeks later we still arguing this? something else is up and b.dot might be gettin a nice check from power105 on the low low.
@ County Of Kings don’t try to flip the conversation. Hot 97 aint breaking artist and thats the bottom line. Payola is all that matters and Rosenberg at 1 am ain’t helping anyone. You probably on the HOT 97 payroll on the low low
elliot what is wrong with you man is it at all possible for you to take an opinion that isn’t in favor of who you’re talking about? this guy is scared hes gonna get kicked off someones dick
From 1997-2003 NYC Hip-Hop Reign Supreme. 1990-1996 WEST COAST Hip-Hop Reign Supreme. 1979 -1989 NYC Hip-Hop Reign Supreme.. THE SOUTH HIp-Hop DO NOT COMPLAIN THEN. So why is NYC Hip-Hop Complain Now? THE SOUTH Hip-hop vs EAST COAST Hip-Hop needs to Happen. Hip-Hop Civil War 2 is amongst us. BRING IT
LOL at everyone seeing through the political correctness of these “The Truth” series videos. The truth is that it’s all relative. “The Truth” is a relative thing, and for YN that depends on the who’s and how much’s of the folks employing him to do these videos, I’m sure those things are factors he must consider when weighing in HIS opinion. At least we have the ability and freedom to reply and give OUR opinions on things in these comment sections as well.
I have to agree with what looks to be the consensus, YN has yet to give an answer other then “I think it does” and go contradictory to the politically correct slant/viewpoint or safe opinion.
I do miss the XXL Elliot Wilson who was no holds barred and called a spade a spade (thankfully, at least there’s B. Dot for that now within this network), but I will say this…”The Truth” Elliot Wilson is better then the borderline ego-maniac DJ Khaled-esque speaking clone from about 6 months…that one was getting annoying yo.
Who do you think the Midwest, Cali, MIA and ATL was listening to from 1977-2007? Who was NY booing in the source awards when southern artist won? How many features did NY give southern artist from 1977-2007? How many southern artist was signed to major NY labels from 1977-2007?
Basically, the Internet and steets is making these southern artist. Not radio. During the period of 1977-2007, NY gave the south no love, and the south learned to be self made without radio. So basically, NY is feeling what the south felt from 1977-2007.
From 1977-2007, there was a lot of wack ass NY rappers that the south had to listen to on radio.
Last, who was a major financial supporter of NY music from 1977-2007?
Think about it….. And I’m from BROoklyN!
Wiz, chief keef, Drake, wale, meek mill, nipsey, Kendrick Lamar, big sean, Nikki min, tech 9, BOB, ect… It’s plenty of rappers out there from diverse regions.. It good for hiphop.. NY was running hiphop like a red state, like republicans, and other regions wanted diversity… Hiphop is Democratic now… So that’s what’s going on.. Hiphop ” changed its clothes”… “You can’t wear air force ones forever…”
Question: Was NY rap good because of the music, or because they were the only ones signing people to record deals before the internet came out?
HE SAID THEY NEED TO PLAY MORE CHIEF KEEF. WTF
County Of Kings
^
If you been following me, I said everyone is accountable. even power 105.1. Ebro & Rosenberg responded, so here we are.
Keeping it real, the good New York hip hop gets no play anywhere. I’m talking about Sean Price, GFK, Nas, Mos Def, Dead Prez, Meth & Red, Raekwon, and Fabolous to name a few. These artist should get more rotation from every radio station but especially Hot 97. As for papoose, uncle murda, and the test of those corny ass gangsta New York niggas that Kay Slay try to blow up, they need to stop, that ain’t New York radio hip hop at all its mixtape music thats not for everyone and the beats are trash.
Word. B.dot your responsible for a couple sentences put your words in the right order
Elliot you should of been absent for this segment & let B.Dot conduct this episode.
I love how bitch made YN is. He can’t even form a declarative for the title of the fucking segment. “Does Trinidad James deserve our attention?” “Does NY hip hop get enough support?” You are a joke man; you get on twitter and talk with this cocky rapper attitude like you’re the best, but when it comes to your journalism you’re scared to put yourself out there and take a stance, like a real man in your profession would.
I got a real question for you. “Is Elliott Wilson a yes man, industry puppet trying to propagate the idea he is a champion for the culture, when in reality he sits on the sidelines and plays it safe like a real bitch would.”
“I think so.”
LOL yn feels like he doesnt hear ENOUGH Chief Keef, Trinidad James, and Future
@b.dot i aint been following on twitter or nothing but i will tho. but as far as the post on the website goes, all i see is hot97 in the title. and the convo is looking like its only bout hot97. i’m not sayin hot 97 aint guilty but they doing better than the competition. and they both should be on the headline. if power105 aint responding then they should get more backlash in my opinion.
but either way u seem to be keeping it 100 wit me so i respect the opinion, i respect the intentions.
This isnt the radio fault, my question is, how come nobody utilize the obvious super star potential out here in NYC. There’s been a NY artist with a progressive sound buzzin all fucking year. And none of these “blogs” are picking up on his steam. Just fucking google the kids name and see what the search results say. “Armvnii” , one literally says “New York Is Back”
And he is just one of many who are out here.
@ SomeWhereUnknow
I agree Meyhem Lauren NEEDS to be on NYC radio. Respect the Fly Shit and Mandatory Brunches are outrageous mixtapes!!!! but payola runs radio and YN is just a cog in the machine. Remember when he was at XXL Magazine? In 2005, He put Interscope Artists on the cover of the magazine for damn near the entire 12 months. He plays a role in the madness with Rap Radar too.
Elliot listen to bloggers fuck! thats what where here for without us u aint shit dont forget that
Agree with Tonny 100% !!!
NY radio is wack they only play drake all day styles p has a new song out how come I never hear it on radio I hate ny radio
lol y’all mad at elliott because he doesn’t use The Truth to slander, mock, disrespect, and insult.
i think if he was on combat jack he’d say the same thing. remember, YN is from queens but he’s not a hip hop purist. he has been supportive of artists outside of the east coast, and he never subscribed to a formula to “how rap music should be made.” he seems to have believed for years that what is hot to the people, regardless of what it sounds like, is the best music. why? because it’s influencing and moving the culture. and that’s his job, to document cultural trends. he talks shit, not to rappers, but to those who question the mastery he has over his lane and remaining on the cutting edge.
y’all looking, but you ain’t seeing what you looking at clearly.
