  1. Willie Hozay says:

Didn’t even bother listening to it like most HIP HOP fans. How can you say this kid has the most anticipated hip hop album lol.

  2. DJ HD says:

    What a display of dickridersmanship.

  3. BowOnArrival says:

Hell yeah it’s a good song & hell yeah his album is highly anticipated

  4. rahrahrah says:

Listened to it yesterday. Didn’t like it. I was surprised that people are buzzing over it. But flies buzz over dog shit, so anything is possible. It’s no worse than half the crap that’s out there, doesn’t warrant a second listen and certainly not a remix. What I want to see cat’s get on is that Torch and Styles P. That’s a great beat, and both of those cats bodied that track. I would like to see a real MC get on that track and spar, go bar for bar.

But I’m an old fart, so yeah, all you skinny jeans, skirt wearing, tattoos all over your face and hands, dudes..I guess it might be up your alley.

  5. ... says:

    Drake is the truth!

  6. Keisha says:

Hey everybody check out the hottest newest record label in the ATL at http://www.newheatent.com, also join the movement by following me on twitter @klcnewheatent :)

  7. mac DIESEL says:

IT’S NOT A BAD TRACK!!!! IT’S JUST A BORING TRACK!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  8. Lantern Core says:

“I know of all the things that I hear they be pokin’ fun at
Never the flow though, they know I run that ~ Drake”

  9. JustMyOpinion says:

Let the industry massaging BEGIN. Full disclosure, I think Drake is the worst artist we’ve had in a decade(2000s), so take my opinion with a grain if salt.

I have never any memorable lines with this guy. Just pure singing, I don’t know about y’all but my “favorite” rapper don’t sing-he RAP.

This track is MORE of the SAME of what we’ve heard over the past 5 years, A LOT of singing/melody. NO one pushes the envelope.

But, if I was a rapper TODAY, I wouldn’t try either because some rap blog will endorse my lackluster song without pushing me to reach deep down for the best lyrics I got.

Oh yeah, YN said to appreciate the garbage music we have and stop worrying….paraphrased.

    These rappers are boring.

  10. BKLYN44 says:

This dude YN stays riding DICK!This track is GARBAGE!!!Anthem????GTFOH!

  11. BeeBoy says:

Elliot look like that mexican goon off Weeds

  12. The "Real" Truth says:

Yea I agree its not bad very catchy but pretty boring to tell “the truth”. I was anticipating this and while its not bad it’s also sub bar and overall really repetitive. I’m sure the album as a whole will be a great body of work although I can name a couple others more anticipated to be honest.

  13. Cruisio says:

I think it’s a sad sad day when an average as hell track can be described as an “anthem”. Have the standards fallen THAT low?

  14. The "Real" Truth says:

Don’t label this the truth if you not gonna actually say what the people are thinking. The truth has nothing to do with being politically correct. These truth segments are seeming more and more like :
    1. Paid endorsements
    2. Flat out commercials for commercial
    3. DICKRYDING
It’s not hatin to demand a better quality of music. This is hip hop if ya shit garbage somebody gond tell u and its your job to tighten it up
But yes men ass kissers and label bank account put corny shit in a nice protective bubble.
So why would the culture grow
    The game is soft

  15. ... says:

    @the real truth
It doesnt get more hiphop then this song..

  16. JD says:

And who can’t relate to the content? Overcoming adversity. And winning against all odds.

This is exactly why that shit is weak, YN. That concept, although just as valid as any other rap cliche, is especially trite at this point in time.

Sheeeeeit, that’s basically what EVERY MMG song has been about for the past 3 years.

  17. Faay says:

Only reason why this song is being regarded as an anthem is because everybody and their mother are giving it the green light, especially the diluted mainstream rappers we have…

Give it another 2 months and we’ll have another marvin room situation on our hands….and who’s blame will it be then??

Drakes album is anticipated, whether you like the guy or not, his a well rounded RECOGNISED artist soo yeah, pretty much everyone wants to know what this next project is going to sound like….

As for the track it’s self, it’s average track…. nothing ground breaking

P.S To much commotion for such a avarage track

  18. Yup ! says:

    THE TRACK IS HARD!!!!!!!!!!!

    NUFF SAID!!!!!!!

    HA !

  19. Del says:

YN, I like the track too but was it worthy of a video dedicated to it?

  20. @ YN says:

Lol at half Jew. He’s half a religion?

  21. County Of Kings says:

when i read these comments all i see is niggas hating. a few ppl giving honest opinions. some are just pure hate. if u niggas want a truth episode about sean price or action bronson then go the blogs that are in that lane. u cant go to the nba and be mad when niggas dont show love to a dleague team, and then call them dickriders.

@cruisio u mad that an average track can be an anthem? what hiphop are u listening to? anthems are supposed to be regular catchy repetitive songs. rick ross’ bmf was an average song it wasnt prolific, it didnt push boundaries. it was an anthem tho

this song is ok, its catchy, its repetitive and it seems that drake has either found or created the blueprint for main stream success as a rapper. his music is can be played basically everywhere at any venue, no matter the race or wealth or social class of the listener. u dont have to like it but u gotta respect it.

  22. Devante says:

Drake is gonna be around for awhile you haters need to face it. He has that Kanye creative trait that keeps everyone intersted in his music. Other than the Chris Brown bottle incident and rumors Drake is only in headlines for music not gimmicks to keep his name buzzing.

  23. Danny says:

songs like these are played out…so lame and not refreshing at all

  24. Danny says:

    well put JD

  25. [...] the latest episode of “The Truth,” Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson gives his opinion on Drake’s new single “Started from the Bottom” from his [...]

  26. GRAMZ Kash says:

It’s not the worst song ever . Every drake album we go through this just be patient fuck boys

  27. The Real Truth says:

that song is trash, stop dick riding…. shit was ass

  28. Donn says:

IF UR STILL AT THE BOTTOM OF COURSE U DON’T GET THE SONG LOL

  29. Facts says:

I don’t care if people think Drake is a good or bad artist

But it is a fact that he is not a Rap artist so why talk about him on a website about Hip Hop (at least trying to be such a website…)

  30. Anthem?! GTFOH.

Beat is dope… the flow is cool but it’s far from an anthem.

YN loves to ride dick is the moral of this post.

oh yeah… here is the new artwork for said single… http://images.4chan.org/b/src/1359920980445.jpg

  31. God says:

WHY COME YN didnt address 50 CENT !!!!,,,, He want the real truth

  32. County of Kings said “when i read these comments all i see is niggas hating”

So people who don’t like a popular song are “hating” . Oh , I’m sorry. I meant “niggas” who don’t like a popular song are “hating”

    Anthem?
    hmmmm

    I agree
    Guess what
That was the point of this song.
    A POP RADIO ANTHEM
A SAFE song for the white kids to throw “their hands in the air, like they don’t care”

However, this genre Drake does (allegedly, cause I hear singing & cheesy hooks) is hip hop. It’s “from the streets”. Isn’t that what we all say?
HIP HOP IS CNN FOR THE STREETS

So MAYBE , hip hop heads who are from the street and/or have the toughness required to survive in these streets can’t rock with a Canadian tv child actor that grew up to sing his way into a major label with a crew that originates from New Orleans.

    Maybe

    @p0is0nedkoola
    Lester Bangs of hip hop
    “don’t call me nigga, whitey”

  33. Trillionaire says:

started from the botttom??? I’ve come to the conclusion that rappers will say anything to fit in…don’t matter how true or false it may be…niggas said they all about the money and there is no reason to believe otherwise…smh

  34. Rogue says:

I was completely unimpressed by the track. Realistically, Drake puts out a pure Hip Hop track as a buzz single before every album and then doesn’t capitalize off of it for the Hip Hop community because he tends to go R&B. With that being said realistically, as your first single, this is what you choose? It was dope lyrically as “Over” or “Headlines” and doesn’t come close to competing with any of the features that he’s done. This is average at best. Drake needs to come harder or just stop rapping as a whole.

  35. ... says:

    @trillionare
Listen to the lyrics dumbfuck hes not saying anything thats not true to him..and who the fuck are u to say whats someones bottom? Wveryone has there own comeup..just different planes

  36. ... says:

    @rogue
Yeah he ahould stop rapping huh?
And be nothing exciting in hiphop right?
This guy is the only one on top .jay and ye gotta team just to compete with him

  37. brza says:

The record is one long hook over and over and over and . . .

  38. Kemosabi says:

It’s a shame people with such platforms use it for nothing. Chicago has a problem that rap music won’t ever talk about. Education is gone to shit. Radio rap is trash. When is the truth gonna be real? Whether people like him or not everybody knows Drake can rap, that isn’t even a discussion.

  39. WestCoast says:

    Disney zionist ass rapper !!!

  40. matrix says:

This song has a bangin beat…when will you niggz realize thats most the battle right there in this day and age…all you need is a banging beat people wanna hear everything else is eh…songs message is a good one…the lyrics are eh…overall though this shit is gonna get superhyped because its drake….

  41. Uh-oh says:

I dont even think I can click on this. @YN is just too much an industry deep throater.

  42. jose says:

Drake represent canada ,toronto to the map, that is a grat song.hip hop canada all day

  43. IAM says:

after one day there was 150 comments on the “started from the bottom” post. 75-90% was people talkin shit LOL…and this type of attention and shit talking has been going on for YEARS. how can you not respect drizzy for not droppin some hard shit like this? drake is basically shitting on all these people. if you dont relate with his content or enjoy listening to his music then there are thousands of other artist out there making a something different. WHY BRING SOMEONE DOWN? to lift yourself up errrrrrrrWHAT? nope. you hate yourself so you hate drake BECAUSE HE HAD IT SO EASY “OMG HE WAS ON A TV SHOW”. he was a ambitious teen getting paper you fuck fucks. just. enjoy.this.shit -IAM

  44. ***BLACK MIRROR*** says:

I RARELY BUMP ANY DRAKE. HOWEVER I’M SURE I WILL BE TARGETED AS A FANBOY. SO BE IT.

BUT THE FUNNY PART OF THIS WHOLE THREAD IS THAT EVERYONE FEELS HIS “BOTTOM” WASN’T LOW ENOUGH. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THE DEFINITION OF STRUGGLE IS?

MEANWHILE YOU’RE ON A PC/MAC WITH MOST LIKELY HIGH SPEED INTERNET. TRUTH IS…NONE OF US ON HERE ARE GANGSTAS OR HOOD IN ITS PUREST FORM. YOU COULD HAVE ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD AND STILL FACE LIFE CRUSHING EVENTS.

NEVER JUDGE ANOTHER MANS LIFE UNLESS YOU’VE LIVED IT…WHICH MEANS NEVER. THAT IS ALL.

  45. Cruisio says:

    @County of Kings

Depends what you’re definition of an anthem is, for example, is this going to go down as a hip hop classic? No. In fact, i’d argue NO Drake record could claim that. Dead Presidents is an anthem, Still D.R.E is an anthem, Stan is an anthem, tracks that lift the culture and can be considered stone wall classics years after they’ve come out, when the culture completely changes down the years, lets see if people are talking about Drakes records like they are the ones I mentioned. For me, they won’t be, because he’s not doing anything ground breaking, he’s just playing it safe over and over because he knows it sells. He knows by playing this lane he’s got himself into, girls with love it and the rest will follow, that’s what mainstream music has become these days, thats why you get people like Taylor Swift pushing more units than anybody else out there, because it’s safe radio friendly music that people can bop their head too

I’m not hating on that, at the end of the day these artists have to do what they feel is right, but that doens’t mean i’m suddenly going to adjust my tastes so that everything that sounds average ends up becoming great. Ask yourself, if the track was done by some unknown underground artist do you REALLY think it’d be getting any kind of love at all, or anywhere near the scale it’s getting now? Of course not

  46. j says:

youre going nuts Wilson… this is one of Drakes weakest tracks ever

  47. "Yup ! There Ain't Really Much I Hear That's Poppin' Off Without Us, Nigga"-YMCMB says:

    THE BEST TWO ANTHEM SINCE 2008 Was ” A MILLI ” & ” BMF “……

    THATS IT!!!!!

IF JAY JUMP ON THE “START FROM THE BOTTOM” LIKE HE DID ON “A MILLI” ITS A CLASSIC……

  48. [...] the latest episode of “The Truth,” Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson gives his opinion on Drake’s new single “Started from the Bottom” from his upcoming untitled [...]

  49. Clarity says:

If yall really think Drake cant rap then you are 100% hating. If you think a Rapper cant sing then you are living in the past and are 100% hating. Rappers are different breeds this day and age and I guaranty that everyone of your favorite rappers has sung on a song before.. whether its been released or not.. Em sung on a song and sounded like crap but still put it out but because this dude sounds good he cant rap.. GTFOH… Im not saying Drake is the best or this is the best but its a solid song but has any of his leading singles been that great? nope.. but entire album has been good. Drake has lyrical content and puts his songs together with the best of them and he can sing so in my eyes hes not just a rapper but an artist.
