Following the recent Bugatti shot towards Future on Instagram, T-Pain clarified his comment during his chat with Big Regg of Hot 93.7. At about the 1:50, here’s what he had to say on Future’s use of auto-tune.
“I don’t think Future gets the technology… I don’t think he understands how it actually works. He’s writing great songs– he’s a great writer– as far as how he uses Auto-Tune… I think he’s thinking you just turn it on, and it happens. A lot of people don’t sing with it, they just sing and put it on after, which is a terrible mistake. There’s a lot of stuff you’ve gotta know about Auto-Tune before you can start using it, because it’s the hot thing to do. But Future’s still great, he’s doing his thing.”

Completely fair, accurate statement from T-Pain, but of course it will be viewed as hate….
T-Pain (who can’t sing by the way) is lecturing someone on the use of a piece of technology that essentially turns terrible singing into track accompanied terrible singing. You can’t make this stuff up. T-Pain really gass’d himself up into thinking he has the market cornered on auto-tune. No good can come from this , an auto-tuned beef on wax will literally be the end of music as we know it.
Damnnnn T-pain is mad as hell! personally I like Future’s use of it way more, he’s the only dude who doesn’t just use it hit a bunch of high notes. i dont listen to him really and hate most of his songs, but he’s got a couple that I like if I hear em somewhere.
And it ain’t “the hot thing to do” anymore, if anything future brought auto-tune back after Jay killed it on DOA
I get what he’s saying, but what if that’s how future wants to use it? I mean so far it’s working for him. Personally, I think T-Pain is mad that people were claiming they’re tired of Autotune especially after DOA but when future amongst others use it, they’re still able to score themselves a hit. He just misses being the go to man for hookS.

futures sound is more gritty and street-esque. t-pain had a more pop high pitched singing sound. future is in right now, t-pain is not.
T-Pain probably knows how to use Auto Tune the best . I would love to pick his brain about other things he knows. Ofcourse Future can use it any way he feels like but I dont see anything wrong with him sharing his opinion since he’s responsible for its popularity in the first place.
And I think TPain sounds better using it any way.. He got a good clean sound of it.

Its ironic cause all T-Pain does is auto tune and he’s never used it as well as Kanye did on 808’s.(Which is still the worst Kanye album)
T-Pain did the Autotune on Kanyes 808’s album. He did the engineering of the plugin, just like he did for Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Jamie Fox and a million more.

The way t-pain uses is a bit ‘dated’ now, what exactly T-Pain views as futures weakness is actually what makes Future style unique and raw.

T-pains last great song was “Cant believe it” ft Lil wayne and that was in 2008, since then Jay released DOA and auto tune died out and T-Pain died out, but then here comes Future and i personally think its working for him, I’m not a Future fan, but hes doing his thang, Mr Pain cant hate

T-Pain is super talented. He’ll come back with a couple big features and then have a decent shot to release his own Top 10 record. He just needs to keep doing those big features, That’s how he stayed hot between albums in 06-’10. Lets not forget T-Pain is a GRAMMY winner who literally ran entertainment for a good 4 year span. More than most artists.
Future will last another 8-12 months tops. His style will only stay relevant for so long. Next year it’ll be on with the next thing.
My bet is on Pain.
