So for me to suggest in any way that harm and violation be brought to a woman is one of my biggest mistakes and regrets. And most recently, my choice of words was not only offensive, it does not reflect my true heart. And for this, I apologize. To every woman that has felt the sting of abuse, I apologize. I recognize that as an artist I have a voice and with that, the power of influence. To the young men who listen to my music, please know that using a substance to rob a woman of her right to make a choice is not only a crime, it’s wrong and I do not encourage it. To my fans, I also apologize if I have disappointed you. I can only hope that this sparks a healthy dialogue and that I can contribute to it.”

As a woman and a rap fan, I personally don’t feel sorry for him. He could’ve put out this statement the first time, and he would still have his sneakers endorsements. i’m one of those chicks who can listen to chief keef and play a Lupe album one after a next, so I felt some type of way about the lyrics, but still bumped the song. He played himself again by not taking responsibility for the lyrics he recorded by way of insincere apologies on twitter and radio. He claimed misunderstanding but never explained what was misunderstood.
He played himself again by waiting until he was dropped from his most mainstream endorsement deal to issue a statement and apology that actually took some responsibility.
And to be honest, he played alot of decent people that work in the media (the folks at RapRadar included) by leaving them out to dry. If he had accepted responsibility right away you guys wouldn’t be getting criticized so much for having his back.
