Timbaland On Use Of Aaliyah’s Vocals

In this portion of his interview with Revolt, Timbo explains why Aaliyah’s posthumous vocals particularly used in Drake and Chris Brown‘s singles did not work. He also mentions that Nas, Jay-Z, and Justin Timberlake have recorded a song called “Sinatra In The Sands”.

  1. This guy says:

Timbo comes off as a lame sometimes, well i guess arrogant is a better word… whatevs i guess he earned it

  2. StarFox64 says:

its fucked up cuz the vocals are going to waste…

  3. Dashing says:

He’s right though. I don’t want to hear Aaliyah and Drake or Chris Brown. I’d rather hear over some dope Timbaland that works with her vocals or Missy.

  4. reallyTIM says:

Tim speaks to Drake after he made “started from the bottom” and that is what made Tim realize that Drake is going to be here for a while? This just shows us one thing people. That Tim no longer knows music at all. He prob doesn’t even know who Avriel Epps is or for that matter frank ocean. He prob doesn’t event know about Chance the rapper yet. He probably thinks kendrick Lemar is a law firm. Tim you don’t know music, stick to telling baby girl stories

  5. Regular Guy says:

    He’s right.
But hey, we live in a world in where internet dwellers think they know more about hip hop than the people who laid the blueprint for it.

  6. STINKMEANER says:

yeah, tim has never been real cool with people using aaliyah’s vocals, and i don’t blame him. that is not a celebrity or history, that was really his friend, and lots of young rappers and singers want to use her vocals but they don’t make good enough music to deserve that.

lets hear this timbo x nas though, cuz i’m ready for that

  7. big mike says:

this nigga sounds stupid and arrogant..same reason why jay stop fucking with him…nigga it aint the 90’s no more your not the top producer fuck outta here clown..missy already told us your a clown beat it nigga

  8. Dashing says:

Cats are clowns with short memories. Timbo is a legend in the game. One of the best hip hop producers of all time. Not to mention the producer of 2 of the biggest releases of the year with JT and Jay Z…. Chris Brown and Drake both reached out to HIM for records. He worked with Aaliyah, produced for her, co-wrote some of those unreleased songs. Ultimately, from a music standpoint no one’s word should count more than Timbo on this topic. Period…

  9. fact checker says:

how isn’t timbo the top producer when he produced justin’s album(s) & jay z’s album? the two most successful albums of the year….uhhh

  10. Donn says:

    Cosign @Regular Guy

These Internet nerds think their A&Rs and have more insight than ppl who been in this industry for years

  11. Fuck Your Opinion says:

Tim has had one hell of a year, Justin’s whole album and the majority of MCHG, dude is a living legend. I love how passionate he is about getting in the studio with legendary artists and making the best possible music, no bullshit, no “I’ll send you some beats” but locking in with them and creating amazing records. Nas is about to fuck the game up once again, Life Is Good was an incredible album and Im ready for round 2. Hip Hop >>>>>>>>

  12. TrueSchool says:

  13. koa29 says:

didn’t he say Em, Jay & Justin? Or was that just wishful thinking on my part?

  14. 99Problems says:

U guys remember when Timbo was on steroids for a year and was feelin himself so much he was wearing wife beaters on TV? Now look at his fat ass. He has more rolls on his neck than bakery. Smfh

  15. kayandgee says:

the chris brown/aaliyah joint is actually not that bad, im feelin that alot! pause

  16. PistolPistol says:

Boards are blowing up saying EM is on that joint… Guess not. Woulda been dope

  17. PistolPistol says:

    ^”Sinatra in the sand”

  18. Timbaland said Nas had a song with Jay, Em, and JT. I’m looking forward to this…….

  19. @PistolPistol – So Em’s not on Sinatra in the Sand, then? Why would Timbaland lie in his interview?

  20. Rome says:

Fat Timbo > Steroid Timbo. Musically of course.

  21. PistolPistol says:

    ^ said him.. Not EM.
    Apparently.?

  22. sway-z says:

He said nothing wrong, certain producers bring out certain shit in artists. Nas is great, but he sounds best on a Primo or Large Pro track. Em, Snoop & 50 are all great at what they do, but they sound best on Dre tracks, same thing with Jay & Just Blaze/Kanye and so on….

  23. @PistolPistol – I see. Thanks.

  24. Young Lucky says:

tim just needs to shut the fuck up and stick to music. i mean aaliyah was his friend/artist who the fuck knows but damn and to say that chris brown record isnt hot?! ridiculous

  25. asmodeus ashmadi says:

Breezy and alliyah is crazy record! sinatra in the sand dam they got me hype i need to hear this record!!!!!

  26. Cory Ballad says:

Yeah, the songs don’t sound so good to me.

  27. Boom says:

    Nigga….yeah! Timbo speaking the truth!
