Big Sean On Kendrick’s “Control” Verse

timthumb

Since Big Sean released “Control“, the game’s has been well, out of control. Speaking with VIBE, he talks sampling issue, Kendrick’s controversial verse and not changing his own. No hoe ass niggas over here.

“I ain’t no hoe ass nigga like that to hear a verse like that and be like ‘I gotta go back and [rewrite] my shit, I gotta go protect myself.’ Nah, it is what it is. I’m a good ass rapper. I just want people to remember I had the song. I knew what it was. No, I didn’t change my verse because I’m not a hoe ass nigga. I’m a real ass nigga from Detroit. I rep for everything that I do. I knew what it was going to do for hip-hop. I knew what it was going to do for the culture. This is the most exciting rap song to drop this year this year. Period. “

  • Per V

How can an artist “react” to his own song?!

  • Jav

Big Sean always keep it 300. I swear only time he has acted up was with nardwuar.

  • The Wise

This dudes such a pussy! Dont bank on kendricks verse because ur was completley forgetable

  • Wrong

No Sean. Most exciting “verse” this year. People are barely acknowledging your existence on your own track!

  • Jones

I fuck with sean but he was a afterthought on his own shit!

  • Ran

What do being a hoe ass Nigga got to do with changing a verse?

  • http://insite.bandcamp.com/ IN_SITE

let nas down remix from nas is still my fav this year

  • Tef

Yeah, that was one arbitrarily aggressive response. He can call himself whatever he wants in this interview, but point is, when you put out a song, and one of your features spits not only one of the hardest verses of the decade and renders you irrelevant on your own shit, you tend to feel a certain way about that. This verse sent out shockwaves that woke many rappers up, and the energy in Hip Hop right now is just crazy. The track won’t even be on the album, so No Sean, this is a L for you, and you know it!

  • Black-Night

No, I didn’t change my verse because I’m not a hoe ass nigga. I’m a real ass nigga from Detroit.

LOL THAT SHIT WAS FUNNY AS HELL

  • Dashing

Biggie changed his verse after hearing Jay’s verse on tracks they did together. Eminem has said he’s changed verses. Does that make them hoes? No it makes them smart….that makes no damn sense.

If he left that part of his response out, he woulda been fine.

Just should have said “Kendrick did his damn thing on the track. Shout out to Kendrick. I feel like I did my thing too. And Jay Elect added his own spice to it. Shoult out to Jay Elect for blessing me with a verse….This is the most exciting rap song to drop this year this year and I’m glad I made it happen. Hall of Fame coming soon. This joint was crazy, but it didn’t make the album so you know I got more in the stash.”

  • davman

U nigs are so fucking dumb…wat the kid was saying is, any other rapper wud have changed their verse after hearing Kendricks…he didn’t…so whether he got killed on his track or not, he still was genuine enough to still put DAT shit out as it is…..u dumb fucks….

  • Trillionare

He a hoe ass nigga for that response though… That defiantly wasnt the song of the year…. Let Nas down(Remix) is the song of the year by far!!

  • yo!

i thought he struggled with the 80 year old man line

probly why he wanted to re write his shit

  • yo!

but after the beat drops he rips it

  • Black Shady

I know there’s a KENDRICK VERSE only version somewhere online. this is what I need

  • Realniggashit

    I fucks with it

  • KingJuggaNott

If anybody even responds to Kendricks TRAP they are a damn sucker. He’s doing his thing and if he’s going to knock you off YOUR grind by responding to HIM with Lack luster verses that cant match up you’re making a big mistake. IF anyone bites, KENDRICK just snatched the Steering Wheel. A smart emcee would keep it moving and make the traffic move their way. Avoid that shit.

  • nobadraps

He had the worst verse on Clique, worst verse on All Me, worst verse on Control, BS needs to take his bronze medal back to the D and pray to the rap gods for some actual skill.

    P.S.
He needs to get that wee-wee outta his mouth you can still see the Yeezy’s spunk dribblin out the corner of his mouth.

  • Dashing

^ Did not have the worst verse on “All Me” but I’ll give you “Clique” but he was on with Ye and Jay so there’s that…

  • Lil Majer The Cartune

Ughh!!! My GOD! Kendrick killed it, YES! but will you cock riders get off this man’s nuts! Y’all act like as if this is the second coming or something! People will soon forget about this in the next month or two! It’s like the same thing that happened when Royce Da 5’9 when he mentioned that “Hi Rihanna” line. People milked the fxck outta that and it was the talk for like a full month but now everyone has forgotten about that.

And another thing, I think people get so caught up in the moment when an artist drops bomb that they totally forget about everything else! Like, I was on thisis50.com yesterday and it was a poll asking is Kendrick Lamar the new king of rap… Like, are you serious? He drops one stand-out verse and a highly exceptional album last year and now we’re asking is he the new king of rap?… GTFOH! There’s no way in hell good kid m.A.A.d city even comes close to COMPETE or even be mentioned in topic of discussion when it comes to game changing classic albums like Illmatic, Life After Death, All Eyez On Me, The Chronic, Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and etc.

It’s no doubt that Kendrick Lamar is the hottest new rapper out right now, but there’s a lot of work to be done for him to even be mentioned in topic of rappers in the A league like Jay-Z, Nas, Big, Pac, Rakim, KRS-One, Eminem, Andre 3000 and etc. you can’t compare a new nigga with no longevity to legends, that’s asinine!

  • Banana Pudding

    ^ nigga salty as fuq

  • WTF!?

Someone PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ get this dude Sean the fuck outta here! You look like a SUCKA right now!

  • Respect

I hate this nigga, if your verse is wack, re-write that shit dumbass, make the track better

  • Lil Majer The Cartune

@Banana Pudding How exactly am I salty? I give K. Dot all props right now, he has the rap world and the internet buzzin right now, I can’t take that from him, dude is ill and one of my favorite rappers! But one of the things in this world I can’t stand the most is a dick riding @$$ nigga, and this site is overflowing with ‘em!!

  • Dashing

@Lil Majer The Cartune, so people can’t be excited about a dope verse any more? Even when real bars and rhymes are so rare??? Please please don’t hate on that shit and call people dickriders. Is it the best verse of all time? No. Is it Kendrick’s best verse? No. But it’s easily the verse of the year.

And the difference between this and Royce’s “Hi Rihanna” is that this re-ignited hiphop. That was just 1 funny line he repeated…Every rapper in the game HAD to take notice of the verse Kendrick dropped. When was the last time THAT happened? Exhibit C MAYBE (and even that wasn’t like this).

And I hate that when some dope shit comes out in 2013 there’s gotta be some dude that says “Well this dont’ fuck with The Chronic or Ready to Die or the best albums that hip hop has ever had”

Imagine people did that with everything else. That Dave Chappelle is funny, but he aint fuckin with Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy. ..That Obama speech was cool, but he aint fuckin with Martin Luther King shit!!

Niggaz never appreciate shit in the moment, meanwhile a year from now, you’ll compare shit to this Kendrick verse. It’s cool if you want to be on this shit, but don’t hate on the rest of us for enjoying this moment in hip hop.

  • Lil Majer The Cartune

    @Dashing

Why are people misinterpreting my comment? lol… I never said people can’t be excited, it’s just when you got meme’s floating around about a Kendrick verse, poll questions asking ‘Is Kendrick Lamar the new King of Rap’, people leaving comment like ‘K. Dot is the best rapper alive!!!1111!!!” it just looks dick rider’ish… Just enjoy the music and take it for what it is! I got a homeboy that is pretty much in love with Kendrick and I get on him all the time for dick riding that nigga, this nigga told me he would take a bullet for Kendrick and he never even met the nigga, C’MON SON!

And I only brung up those albums and artists cause you can look on plenty of blog site comments of people comparing Kendrick and his album with legends and great albums and it just looks foolish! I was just calling it out, but I can see what you’re getting at.

  • Devante

    What?!?!^^^

It’s like the more I read the less sense it made..

  • Lil Majer The Cartune

    @Devante

What really is there not to get?

  • rillmerch

you didn’t get out rapped fool you got bodied… there is a difference

    http://www.stillrill.com

  • Mike B

lol@ lil majer. what a dumb persons point of view. If it asked the NEW of rap. First of all, dead rappers cannot be the king of rap. Ima break this up so you can read it slowly. When a…..king….dies…do you know what happens?….a…new…king …is crowned. Obviously it’s debatable with him and a couple others, so that’s why it’s a poll. But if he’s ruling rap right now…that would make him the new king of rap…idiot…doesn’t say all time best rapper…idiot

  • dodo

    ” I’m a good ass rapper.”

    LMAO.

    Clown.

  • tucq

I respect Sean for not changing his verse, and to step aside and let someone else shine. That takes a lot of guts….. In the end, the only thing that will keep u in this game is bangin tracks, and Sean can do that.
    If I was a rapper, would I respond to Kendrick?…… I know I wouldn’t respond immediately……

I would focus on makin bangin tracks, because the way Kendrick lumped everybody together, your verse would always look weaker. What he did was just BOLD. Not since “How to Rob” have we seen balls like this.

If I was Drake and them other cats, I would wait until i found a crack in Kendrick’s armor. Or i wouldnt respond.

  • The black robin thicke

*lil bitch ass nigga* haha “ain’t no hoe ass nigga.” Yeah right

  • Showboat

    that nigga rewrote. period
