Up on the balcony, TJ holds a PSA regarding last week’s controversial “South runs NY” statement. While elaborating on the comment, he said his intent was never to disrespect the city, but for NY radio to push NY underground artists more. Only God can judge him.

I am not from NY. I can’t imagine how artists, DJs, and tastemakers from NY felt about Trinidad James’s off-the-cuff rant. However, I question how valid his current statements are. Are NY artist given adequate, if not, equal radio play? Or does Atlanta, indeed, run NY? I don’t expect most Hip-Hop enthusiasts to look past Trinidad James’s lack of talent to look at the bigger picture. However, when radio personalities are scrambling to bury James before his rant touches-off a larger, more important debate on NY artist not getting played on NY radio, you can’t help but begin to listen to him.

Trinidad definitely should get some shade for his comments but only from NY Artist from defense of their city. but the truth is, he’s right. NY Artist do not run NY, the times have changed and the influence of the south combined with the internet is proving that. Of course we wish the 90s never ended but get over it. NY tastemakers should take more pride in their city and put NY first and everything 2nd. Ny should set the trend and not be afraid of trying something different or fear of making a mistake
