I Do.

A few days ago, a video of a cussing toddler went viral. Authorities in Omaha, Nebraska called the clip an example of thuggery. CNN sat down with Slim Thug yesterday to discussed the term and it’s connotation.

These guys really don’t know what they are doing to these kids out here. Calling yourself a thug or a nigga everyday just builds that into your mind.

  2. Marley71 says:

All of these musicians who sell death and destruction are part of the problem. Their argument is always that they aren’t the only, or biggest part of the problem, by pointing to parenting and other entertainment forms, most notably gangster flicks or Arnold in Terminator.

Anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows the truth.

    1. It's Just Music says:

but the truth is, music is just entertainment.
I listen to rap music religiously, I was taught and wise enough to know that it is all fake and is just entertainment.
You don’t see me strapped or using stupid ass terms like ‘thug’ in my vocabulary.
I don’t watch movies or play video games and then try to mimic what they portray, it’s ignorant and just entertainment.

Parenting is the issue. Parents want TV, Music, and etc to do parenting for them except for just sitting down with their child and simply talking to them.

Most importantly, there will always be a dumb ass who gets brainwashed in believing this entertainment is real.

    2. Selorm Amuzu says:

An artist’s job is to entertain and create a feeling from his art to as much people as possible. 2 things are very subjective, the content of their art and the amount of reality people decide to put in so regardless it is still entertainment and at the end of the day it all comes down to personal responsibility . I can never blame musicians or entertainers for doing what they do because I know they are a product of their environment and like any other human, they are gonna do what they are gonna do in their own time not ours and also they have no control over what individual fan takes from their craft. Charity begins at home. always has, always been.

  3. Selorm Amuzu says:

Are we gonna pretend death and destruction has not always been in high demand since the earth was born

  4. $PORT!N says:

HIP HOP OR EVEN “THUG MUSIC” IS NOT THE REASON FOR POVERTY, CRIME AND CURSING BABIES IN AMERICA. THIS IS WHAT AMERICA DOES EVERY TIME SOMETHING EMBARRASSING HAPPENS, BLAME IT ON HIP HOP, NOBODY NEVER BLAMES MOVIES OR REALITY TV THEY ALWAYS BLAME HIP HOP AND RAPPERS. IF WE WERE TO GO BACK INTO TIME AND NEVER RELEASE A GANGSTA RAP RECORD OR EVEN A HIP HOP RECORD WE WILL STILL HAVE POVERTY, CRIME AND CURSING BABIES. HIP HOP IS NOT THE PROBLEM.

  5. Marley71 says:

Listen to the responses below. Is it guilt, or stupidity?

    1. People claiming that death and destruction have always been in high demand.(So I guess we should sell whatever is in high demand?)
    2. Music is JUST entertainment. (As if entertainment can’t have a lasting impact on someone? So there is no difference in negative and positive entertainment?)
    3. “THUG” music is not THE reason for poverty. (Poverty of course only has one reason, so musicians who help to promote negative habits don’t contribute at all?)
    4. I listened to “THUG” music, I turned out fine, so it couldn’t be the music’s fault. (So everyone is the same and has the strong home environment that reinforces positives, and aren’t caught up in the negative culture that the music promotes? I’m glad to learn that peer pressure is just a myth!)

The entertainment industry has trained their consumers well. Not only do they consume the trash they tell others that the trash is healthy dish!

    1. It's Just Music says:

so you’re telling me all the problems in the world are based off one guy going in the recording studio and making an album portraying a fictional character? Get out of here.

Did you even see the video of the toddler cussing with his PARENTS encouraging him? You are telling me that rap music is the problem for that? His parents/family decided to be influenced by rap music in a negative fashion.

You are who you make yourself. You can blame rap, drugs, your environment or whatever for your problems in life, but ultimately, you are the one responsible.

With rap music at a all time high, you would think there would be murder rates like Chicago all over the world.

Nice to know that the problems in Africa, to wars in the middle east, to losing our personal freedoms is all due to rap music!

Of course poverty is due to rap music, not due to the flaws of our capitalistic system, the banking system creating money that doesn’t exist, or corporate greed.

Let’s blame rap music as the scapegoat!

    2. Selorm Amuzu says:

1- a man will always sell death and destruction because ironically it is a safe way to get money seeing that these factors have been part of the Human beings since day 1

2-Music is entertainment regardless of how much reality you put to it. It only impacts a person because of how much reality they have put to it

3- Poverty is a product of a factor outside of music, if someone has little opportunity around him and manages to be successful by using what he knows and what he is surrounded by, is it his fault for finding a way out using what he knows. Last time, I checked Nas funded his music through what he knew at the time.

4- Because it is down to PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. you as an INDIVIDUAL decided not to be influenced by thug music because you as an INDIVIDUAL saw it for what you saw it. This varies to other individuals hence the term “PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY”.

FYI no one is above a choice even peer pressure if you wanna look at an example look at yourself and ask why you are who you are.

  8. room2roam says:

theres no excuse for constantly making music glorifying violence and negativity especially once you’ve had the opportunity to experience better. no hip hop is not the primary reason for poverty or so many young black men & an increasing number of young black women but it does play a part. i understand using it to reach new heights but once you experience more share that as well. theres no reason to have an album or mixtape where you’re talkin the same negative ish for 15 songs str8. i really miss diversity in hip hop

  9. room2roam says:

***increasing number of black women going to prison and killing one another
