New Video: Nas “Represent”

Stillmatic.

It’s been 20 years in the making, but Nas has finally released a video for track nine off Illmatic. Unlike the album though, the video isn’t as groundbreaking. Directed by Jason Goldwatch and contest winner Brian Katz, the clip compounds previous Nas videos with the silent film The Thief Of Baghdad . Bad representation all around.

  5. Gob Stone says:

So waaaaaaac. This should have been in QB with mad people celebrating the legacy on some Spike Lee PE shit with Nas standing on top of the people rapping like a griot. Nas fire your team and get rid of to cornballs in your circle!!!

    1. This is the result of a video treatment writing contest held by Complex. The contest winner came up with a subpar script & the budget was little to nothing. They were lucky to get Nas in the video.

  6. Scroll 13 says:

Very Lazy. Here’s an idea though: a Pixar / CGI for memory lane bringing the child Nas as depicted on the album cover running through the bridge and some of those narratives in the song visualised on his path back to his father standing outside his building.

    1. Jason Riggsby says:

^^Yo…this is genius. Straight up! I enjoyed your paragraph more than this video.

  7. LP1087 says:

  9. Rob Lo says:

Horrible, horrible, horrible…….Nas is too great of an artist to have had such a horrible production made for such a CLASSIC song…Nas best videos were the simple ones made in QB like “Nas is Like” video…..this shudda been left alone all together…the concept only connects with the sample not the lyrics…such a retarded treatment of such an amazing song from a legendary artist…angry that Nas even let this video release…shudda just did it over or left it alone all together…20 yrs later this shudda been a celebratory video from a song that was about celebrating QB…shudda been a celebration video about the Illmatic album in general….def didnt represent right on this one and being a fan i am sooo pissed!

  10. el jim chapo guzman says:
