Dude’s career as an artist seems to have stalled.

As soon as he left Kanye it stopped

Seems like producers have an 8 month shelf life these days…remember when Lex Luger was the man? Polow Da Don? Mike Will & Mustard had runs now Metro Boomin is eating up the spotlight. No hate just an observation, I think Hit-Boy’s time has passed

Great point. What happens is the start believing their own press clippings, seeing as that’s all the game comes down to these days. They hang out more and bang out less. Only a matter of time before it ends. The era of the Timbos, Premos, Neptunes etc seems bygone.

I don’t know, Hit-Boy coulda been but i believe he shot himself in the foot leaving the Yeezy/Jigga umbrella too early and try to establish his own imprint when realistically he didn’t do much as a producer, yeah he had Niggas in Paris and a few records for beyonce but that was about it, he should have stuck around for another Jay album, a Watch the Throne 2 and get involved with other Kanye west projects. He had a great roster at G.O.O.D ( Teyana Taylor, Big Sean, Pusha T, Cyhi…) that would have been dope, feels to me like he’s now just starting all over again. I still think he’s one of the best out there tho, just no real star power which he could have gotten sticking w/ Ye and Jay.

You’re right. He should’ve stayed under the wing for a bit more. Again, he believed his own press clippings. He’s finding out what it’s like to build your own nest whilst finding your own food and staving off predators. You don’t always win. Respect to him as a man tho.

his raps suck. producers think giving a lot of beats to people keeps them on top.. but if there to actually hold back on some tracks they wouldn’t run out of production tryna be on everybody’s album..
