Beyonce Joins Jay Z In Central Park

Lighters Up.

Hov returned to New York and headlined the annual Global Citizens Festival last night in Central Park. Instead of delving deep into his catalogue, he stuck to his more notable tracks before bringing out the missus for “Holy Grail” and “Young Forever”. The crowd almost looks as massive as the one in the video.

So Jay gonna do EVERY song with Bey to stay relevant? Before anyone comes at me crazy, I said STAY relevant.

    1. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

you really think jayz needs beyonce to stay “relevant”? puhlease.

      1. bottom side inc says:

This is why I said STAY relevant. Jay Z started his career before Beyonce, so of course he’s been relevant. As far as maintaining that relevancy, he knows his time is coming. He still got flow and wordplay, but no 45 year old rapper can come with another album talking about how rich he is or how many Basquiats he owns before the fans start realizing that shit ain’t important to anyone who’s in middle class America. So hold on to someone who’s the greatest living entertainer and hold on to their shine, Beyonce.

        1. ben stewart says:

MAYBE AS A ARTIST BUT HE WILL ALWAYS BE RELEVANT IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS AS LONG AS HE OWNS ROC NATION.

          1. bottom side inc says:

            True

        2. dre says:

Everyone does that, I mean thats why Emenim go on tour and have rhianna, lil wayne with drake. It gets to a point i think that they done tons of shows by themselves and when something works gotta milk it. However I do think he will still be relevant though. Jay knows how to stay relevant. If he drops another record it’ll will stand the test of time.

          1. bottom side inc says:

We’ll see. If he drops the single by himself. He always gets by nowadays by putting out singles with big named artists (Justin Timberlake,A.Keys, Beyonce) to deflect from his sub par flows. I know, I know, Jay did singles without help(Picasso Baby,D.O.A) but it seems like he’s comfortable now getting the money from the songs opposed to him showing us why he was ” the Michael Corleone of the microphone, the Michaelangelo of flow.

          2. dre says:

You dont think all those you named benefited from him as well?

          3. bottom side inc says:

You’re missing the point. Jay z’s a bigger artist than all of those artists combined as far as hip hop is concerned. So him being as great as he is, he should utilize his skill instead on relying on the other artist to carry the song. For example; name a single off of Blueprint, American Gangster, or Black Album that Jay didn’t have help on in which he made the song dope.

          4. dre says:

Jay Never Made Singles, Radio Was Just Forced To Play It Because Thats What The Masses Liked. Every Record Jay Dropped He Carried On His Own Now. Those 3 Albums You Named Some Of Jay Best Work. You Cant Say Those Features Carried His Whole Record Because Thats Not True At All

          5. bottom side inc says:

He doesn’t make singles per say, but the records I named were considered singles by the radio and the record company. I’m not at all saying the records I named carried the record, but im saying HE carried the records on his own without help of RnB singers or rap features.

          6. ilexx says:

Takeover, Dirt Off Your Shoulders, ROC Boyz.

Didn’t love the singles for American Gangster but Jay has many solo cuts that are sick as fuck on that album. Sweet? No Hook?

I get the point you are making but I don’t think you are going about it right. Jay knows the game and how to navigate it, when Hard Knock Life blew up, he knew what time it was, when Empire State of Mind blew up like it did, he got a taste of something else, so he came with a similar formula for Holy Grail by having a mega star sing an infectious hook but I don’t think he NEEDS help per say, its just a formula that worked in an era where most rappers are bombing so he is sticking to his guns.

          7. bottom side inc says:

There you go. I get that, I just want him to get back to that greatness I’m used to from him, not On the Run.

          8. ilexx says:

Hey I feel u. I’m not looking fwd to anything he is doing or planning to do with Beyonce. I hear that joint album talk and it almost makes me sick. Jay better hope the Bee hive supports dat shit but as far as Jay fans go, I don’t think there is anybody who wants a joint Jay and Bey album.

I do accept that Jay is much older now and his technical skills aren’t as sharp as they once were. Every now and then we get a glimpse of what he can still do, like the we made it remix with Jay Elec, Jay was spitting. Give me an album full of that!

But its hard to be 40+ spitting with that consistency.

          9. thetruth says:

dude what is left for jay to prove. only in black music do i hear this bullshit talk, we pull each other down so much its amazing. there are white bands that have not made a new song in years but go out on tour and full stadiums and their fans support them with everything they got. alot of what i see people try to do with jay is see how long he is going last, like their praying on his demise. what the fuck, and this just shows the level of thinking we have cause this same thinking is used in everyday life against other black people we actually know. Always looking for something to justify his success other than his skill. what else does this man have to prove. i never hear this sort of talk with other genres of music, only in hip hop.

          10. Nickey38 says:

Terrific point. I can’t dispute that. Jay doesn’t have to prove nothing. Although I do want another album because I feel a little duped by MCHG. I never play that album, but otherwise he has nothing to prove.

        3. dre says:

I totally understand what you mean though.

      2. Starpoint feat Renee Diggs says:

        YEEEEEEES!

    2. Sean Power says:

      whos your fav rapper ?

      1. bottom side inc says:

Depends on what you mean. All time or right now

          1. bottom side inc says:

I like different artists for different reasons. 2pac embodied the black power and unity that made him great and that’s why I like his work. Jay Z embodied get paid and progression that why they’re my 1a and 1b. Nowadays I’m rockin with Lloyd Banks and Fab

    3. Geoffrey Wang says:

I told you to mind your business. Like an obedient little houseboy. Maybe you’ll get that extra serving. You don’t know that facts of the case, so don’t chime in when nobody looking for your opinion. Put your head back in your boyfriends lap and do what you do best.

      1. GetReal says:

nobody takes your clown ass serious go back and hurry up with those people’s orders

        1. Geoffrey Wang says:

          Check your uppity tone.

        2. Geoffrey Wang says:

You his daddy? Hurry up and finish so he can swallow and speak for himself.

    4. Billionary says:

What you uneducated rap fiends don’t seem to understand is that Jay could use all his flow technique, full talent and stay as relevant as KRS in the hip hop community.

Remember the hip hop industry generates a maximum of $7-10bn of gross revenue (that’s total before any expenses for anyone who missed business class, or went) – this means that were Jay-Z to stay relevant in hip hop only through his crazy flow and intelligent rap which he still has, his earnings are capped.

“Thats another difference between me and them, I smarten up, open the market up”.

Opening the market is all that matters, if that means sacrifice your talent, if the goal is to make money, then so be it.

Jay-Z isn’t an artist that’ll die poor. You can bet your ass on that.

“I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollars”

He’s tripled down on that and the money keeps going up. The blueprints right before your eyes.

“Would you rather be underpaid or overrated?”

I’m appalled at the dumbness in the hip hop audience.

You think hip hop filled 70,000 people in Paris? You think Hip Hop sold out On The Run?

You must be kidding. Hip Hop’s working in McDonald and KFC. Hip Hop is an entertainment for the bottom of America, the middle class embraced it, which brought the revenue.

“You can’t fit this hustle inside of a rapper…”

And let’s face it, without Jay-Z, business wise, there would be no Beyonce. Go back to 2007 and see the change that happened when he took over management.

      1. bottom side inc says:

I understand the business aspect of the business as well, and that’s great you researched the mans catalogue, but be real, you wanna hear all that pop Holy Grail shit, or you wanna hear rap, Shiny Suit Theory lyrics? Be honest. I think a lot of people debate just for likes, and that’s great, just be honest at the same time.

        1. Starpoint feat Renee Diggs says:

          Word Up!

        2. thetruth says:

what made holy grail pop because he justin on it. the topic of holy grail was not one that would be considered a pop record if you listen to that song closely, you get an idea as to how hov feels about the industry. some people only listened the hook and thought they were singing about a female.

      2. Nickey38 says:

        Classic response.

  2. ShmIamRealTalk says:

THIS IS A KNOWN FACT.. JAY Z USES NIGGAS AROUND HIM TO STAY RELEVANT !!!

DONT MAKE ME PULL OUT A LIST !!!!

    1. KANYE…. IS HIS BIGGEST CULPRIT… KANYE WAS SCORCHING HOT .. JAY RODE THAT WAVE UNTIL KANYE DIVED INTO SOME KARDASHIAN PUSSY

… DONT MAKE ME PULL OUT THE LIST !!!!

    1. dre says:

If Thats The Case Everybody Does, Name One Person Who Dont?

    2. bigfoot2011 says:

Give me one example of how Jay used Ye to stay relevant? U goofies hear someone’s opinion in an interview and repeat it as fact. Smh

      1. bottom side inc says:

Listen to almost every verse on WTT and see did Ye better Jay on every song(with the exception of 2 songs)

        1. bigfoot2011 says:

Nigga I asked how Jay was using Ye not who had better verses. Stick to the topic at hand or shut the fuck up.

          1. bottom side inc says:

He used Ye’s crossover appeal because at the time Ye was venturing off to becoming a pop artist as well as a rap artist.

          2. bigfoot2011 says:

How ambiguous is that answer? Jay didn’t have crossover appeal? Boy u must be 12.

          3. GetReal says:

i wouldn’t say he flat out used him but without kanye he wouldn’t be who he was today, but you can say that about both of them they both utilized each other to catapult themselves (which its nothing wrong with)

          4. bottom side inc says:

He does, but as he ages that appeal is waning. No one would watch a person at a concert or listen to an artist as great as Jay is continuously talk that money talk unless someone else was there to deflect that interest from him. Hence Beyonce On the Run tour, Kanye Watch the Throne tour,Rick Ross, Justin, and countless others on the Magna Carta tour. It’s good marketing, but he’s too great an artist for that

          5. cmonhomiewemajor says:

Ye did exec produce Blueprint 3, and that was Jays biggest crossover album

Ye made sure Jay had HITS all over that shit..same with WTT

        2. Dashing28 says:

The album right before WTT had Jay Z’s biggest commercial hit ever “Empire State of Mind” which Ye had nothing to do with. Alicia Keys wasn’t “hot” at the time, but he made her hot.

MCHG (which came right after WTT) had zero Ye involvement and he helped resurrect Timbo with it so what yo’re saying doesn’t make any sense.

Who kept Jay hot on AG? or Black Album? Or Volume 2? Or Volume 1? Or Blueprint? Or Reasonable Doubt?

          1. bottom side inc says:

You might wanna reread all of my comments to see the validity you made to my points.

  6. over_exposure says:

I don’t agree with all this JayZ uses ppl to stay relavant.. not completely anyway but this Jay bringing out Bey. bey bringing out Jay.. on the run tour.. breakup rumours (they totally planted those)… its overkill now they need to take a break.. and I really hope those rumours of them releasing a joint album in the next few months are false.. I know im not the only one who feels that way… jay and bey for just over a full year its been non stop. his album his tour her album her tour then their joint tour and lets not forget elevator gate
