    4. ShortDogg says:

      Nas is that dude!

  3. Marley71 says:

This is Nas resting on his Laurels…this ain’t Nas the truth. Jay makes Pop music, I’m glad he has that pressure, it demands an excellence of him, puts a pressure on him that he can’t shirk from. Jay end up producing excellent pop music, and I don’t want to consume it, but at least it’s excellence. Nas should put himself in the room with Zach de la Rocha, or Yasin Bey and try not to get eaten alive by those lions, or the GZA, but dude doesn’t want to do that. He wants to kick back, yeah we get it…”you’re the man, you’re the man”, now make another classic.

    1. THE REAL mac DIESEL says:

ALL THAT OFF OF ONE SONG, HUH??? HA!!!! FUCK OUTTA HERE!!!! WHAT THE FUCK HAS YASIN BEY OR GZA DONE OR THIS DE LA ROCHA GUY DONE LATELY??? NIGGA, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!

      DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

      1. Marley71 says:

De La Rocha blazed a verse on Run the Jewels, you should check it out. I’m looking forward to “Dark Matter” from GZA, you’re right they haven’t done much. But you think they wouldn’t rise to the occasion if they got a call from God’s Son? Isn’t that a collab you would love to hear, or have him put in a call to Chuck D, Krs-1. Distant Relatives is one of the best bodies of work from Nas, and I think it was because it was a great concept album, something uplifting. I’m only judging the one song. Always a pleasure reading your opinion my brother.

      2. GetReal says:

this guy responded back with some sense and made you look like a fucking retard

p.s you are a fucking retard

    2. marty mcfly says:

No matter what Jay makes people will always say its pop no matter what the sound is. He could make fucking Otis again and people would say thats a pop song. Jay makes Holy Grail which is a rap song technically, it just features a singer but because its Jayz people say its pop.

      1. Marley71 says:

I just don’t like Jay, I could give you a million subjective opinions, that’s the nature of opinions even assholes like me have them, but he makes great Pop songs, those I tend to be unable to avoid.

    3. Southside Slick says:

Although i agree with you, i also think you guys ask way to much from NAS because if you listen to his albums he always drops jewels. And although im Pro-Black i dont expect every person that picks up a mic to be. NAS dabbles in it. He gave us “The Nigger Album” and “Distant Relatives with Damien Marley” The gave us a song called “Daughters” on his last album. Remember he didnt come to the table with a full out conscious message on his albums the others you mentioned did. I understand how you feel, you want the artist you respect the most to give you that Black Power Message because thats where you are in your life now, but NAS is not going to do that every album. AT LEAST HE ISNT OUT HERE COONING LIKE SOME OTHER LEGENDS.

      1. marty mcfly says:

The reason niggas don’t wanna have much pro black power kinda messages in their music is because their afraid. You talk about legends cooning? Have you seen alot of the new rappers out today? What legends is cooning today? really? cause compared to alot of these newer rappers, the legends is the ones who upheld the black power shit. Niggas now are too afraid to be on that or they just not mentally strong enough to articulate any message in they shit but for the most part niggas is hard on the outside and fucking soft and sweet label puppets on the inside. These new niggas are gonna go ahead and let Iggy Azalea take it from here because they simply are too afraid to be a black power kinda artists in Hip Hop today.

      2. marty mcfly says:

and the black power type of Hip Hop is not about battling other races or sending shots at white people…. Its about being black excellence and also thinking before you rap and standing on some kinda moral compass artistically. Thats too hard for these new fuk rappers to do.

  4. Scotland Ward says:

Nas always comes correct no doubt!!! Hot song!!!!!!!!!

  5. bronxbillyunz says:

MARLEY71.. U GOTTA LET HIM GROW & DO HIM.. THIS IS HIS PATH & THIS IS THE WAY HE WANTS TO EXPRESS IT.. JAY & NAS HAVE NOTHIN TO PROVE… HE LAST ALBUM GOT NOMINATED FOR A GRAMMY & HE’S 20 YEARS IN… DON’T THROW ROCKS AT THE THROWN.. U GIVIN JAY A PASS BUT CRACKIN THE WHIP ON NAS… U A SLAVE TO A PAGE IN HIS RHYME BOOK…LOL – BUSTA CHILLIN, JADA CHILLIN, HOV CHILLIN, EM (WHO KNOWS BUT HE’S ALWAYS GONNA HAVE SOMETHIN TO PROVE AS THE OG WHITE RAPPER SO HE’S STILL HUNGRY) 3 STACKS CHILLIN…. – WHEN U A VET – U CA DO NO WRONG – LIKE JAY SAID ” NIGGAS ON THE INTERNET B LIKE HE SHOULD SPIT IT.. IM LIKE “YOU SHOULD BUY IT” HOMEY THATS GOOD BUSINESS…

    1. Marley71 says:

I wouldn’t crack the whip on Jay because I don’t like almost Jay’s entire catalog. Same with Em, and Busta. I want more from Nas because he has done more in the past and I hope to look forward to more greatness from him. He is great, but there are a ton of babies in Chicago still killing themselves. Yes he is just an entertainer, or a musician, and its not his “responsibility” but we come from a culture where musicians can be holy men, griots, prophets, tomorrow isn’t promised. I’m not a slave to anyone, I love Nas, like I love Fela Kuti, or Marley. Not everything that the great ones do is praise worthy.

      1. marty mcfly says:

The whole point of Wu Tang’s next album A Better Tomorrow is along the lines of what you want from them…. I highly doubt the youth of today would listen.

      2. bronxbillyunz says:

NAS JUST WANTED TO BE THE BEST RAPPER & TELL WHAT HE SAW IN THE BRIDGE.. – THERES A SAYIN – IF U STICK AROUND LONG ENOUGH, EVERYBODY’S GONNA KNOW WHO U R.. NAS IS A HIP HOP LEGEND, BUT HE’S NOT A PROPHET OR A MESSENGER .. HE DELIVERED A CLASSIC & CONTINUED TO CONTRIBUTE & DO WHAT HE LOVES.. PLUS HIP HOP IS NOT PREACHY.. A FEW JEWELS HERE & THERE IS ABOUT IT – I LOST FAITH IN THE WU WHEN THE 2ND ALBUM DROPPED & THEY WAS SAYIN SHIT THAT AINT MAKE NO SENSE – THATS WHY THEY FELL OFF

        1. marty mcfly says:

In more ways then a few Nas is indeed a prophet and a messenger because hundreds of lines throughout his music can back that claim up. The reason nobody wants to carry that kinda torch artistically overall is because its hard and niggas are fearful of having to carry such weight as an MC. The fans and people in general make excuses for why Hip Hop is not the place to drop too many jewels (saying its preachy) because ignorance is bliss. Its a comfort zone to remain dumbed down and in a state of all fun and games without much reality check. Hip Hop is supposed to be fun and entertaining but for the most parts the fans live in this realm where fuckery is what’s considered fun and entertaining and the fake illusion that everybody is a thug and a drug dealer, pimp player, baller etc… is a costume that everybody has grown comfortable with so the presence of the truth is like a splash of cold water in the face of those that are just high on fake shit and fuckery. Everybody wants to turn up and accept this bullshit thats being called Hip Hop nowadays when its actually the far from being Hip Hop and when people get older they gonna play alot of these records and hear how ridiculous they sounded and ask themselves how could I ever listen to alot of this garbage cause most of it is clearly bullshit. Wu Tang Forever btw made alot of sense once you break down what the fuck they were saying…

          1. bronxbillyunz says:

I AGREE W/ EVERYTHING U SAID. PUBLIC EXPECTATIONS & SUPERHERO COMPLEX CONVINCES RAPPERS TO TAKE THESE PERSONAS & RUN W/ IT. A PROPHET BRINGS A MESSAGE FROM GOD- IF NAS SAYS “THEY SHOULD BRING BACK ARSENIO & ARSENIO COMES BACK – THAT DOESN’T MAKE HIM A PROPHET..LOL – IF I PICK A HUNDRED STOCKS & THEY ALL GO UP, I’M NOT A PROPHET. I CAN SPOT A LIKELY OUTCOME BASED ON CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES- YES, NAS HAS DONE that. WHAT DO YOU THINK NAS’S PLANS ARE TO CHANGE THE PLIGHT OF THE BLACKMAN OR THE POOR MAN WHEN HE DROPPED OUT IN THE 7TH GRADE? IS HE ONE OF THE BEST WRITERS IN ANY GENRE OF MUSIC & BEYOND MUSIC – HELL YEAH. YOU’RE THROWIN AROUND WORDS LIKE “REALITY CHECK” & “FAKE SHIT” “FUCKERY” & “IGNORANCE IS BLISS” – and i get it. SO LIKE THEY ASK THE POLITICIANS, I’LL ASK U- WHAT CONCRETE PLAN SHOULD HE BE SPEAKING ABOUT TO INFLUENCE THE YOUTH? WHAT EXACTLY SHOULD NAS SAY? I’M SURE SONGS LIKE “I KNOW I CAN” HELPED ALOT OF KIDS BELIEVE IN SOMETHING WHICH IS GREAT.. BUT WHAT CAN U TELL A GROWN ASS MAN…?

          2. marty mcfly says:

Nas doesn’t have to tell the future in detail or as the main point of his rhymes or deliver an all out plan for the lives of all black men to be prophetic. You can not say that God wasn’t involved in some of the things he has said thus far because you don’t know if he was or if he wasn’t. If Nas wrote Illmatic, It Was Written, I Am, Godson, Streets Disciple etc… and the underlined meaning of several of his rhymes were inspired by God you can’t say he didnt deliver those messages. Nas doesn’t have to deliver a political campaign type of message for all black men to be a prophet. God may have sent Nas to the earth to inspire the conscious side of Hip Hop… No more, no less and if thats the case that would make him a prophet. The lyrics that back up the claim I’m making are all over his music. There are a thousand different messages in Nas’s music, that is on some other kinda level type knowledge. The messages don’t have to be complex and don’t have to change the plight of the black man in america. The plight of the black man in america is to live the “american dream”. 99% of the time thats what a black man wants, some kinda level of success and freedom. So Nas doesn’t have to change that plight. Thats not just the plight of black men, thats the plight of almost every human being on earth. However there are several songs throughout Nas’s career that do suggest he is a prophet and that outweighs any argument that he’s not because a treasure chest of messages have already been delivered by way of Nas. There are others that have the same kinda messages as Nas but Nas has carried this flag for two decades and when people think of messages being delivered in rap nine times outta ten the center figure of that in their mind is Nas.

          3. bronxbillyunz says:

TRUE… GOD IS INVOLVED IN ALL MUSIC; SOME MORE THAN OTHERS. I DO BELIEVE THAT WHEN NAS TALKS ABOUT THE STRUGGLE OR COMMENTS ON IT OR SUGGESTS POSITIVE MESSAGES- YES THAT IS GOD’S WORK. WE ALL KNOW NAS INSPIRES CONSCIOUS IN HIS LISTENERS, & JUST HIS LEVEL OF INTELLECT ON THE MIC INSPIRES CONSCIOUS IN HIS LISTENERS. YOU’RE ALSO RIGHT WHEN YOU SAY THE MESSAGES DON’T HAVE TO BE COMPLEX, POLITICAL OR DETAILED TO CHANGE THE PLIGHT OF THE BLACKMAN OR ANY MAN NEEDING DIRECTION OR INSPIRATION. I JUST THINK PROPHET ISN’T FITTING. NAS IS A MAN BEFORE HE’S A RAPPER AND ANY RESPECTABLE MAN IS GONNA USE HIS VOICE TO TRY TO CIVILIZE OTHERS AND INFLUENCE THEM POSITIVELY IF HE CAN. PREACHERS, POLITICIANS, MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS, ETC SPEAK MESSAGES TO INSPIRE ALSO, BUT WE JUST CAN’T GO AROUND CALLIN PEOPLE PROPHETS. IS NAS CAPABLE OF IMPACTING A NEW GENERATION OF KIDS W/ AN ALBUM – YES – CAN IT CATAPULT THE YOUTH OF TODAY INTO A UNITED DECISION TO DO POSITIVE – POSSIBLE . WILL IT HAPPEN, ITS UNLIKELY – BECAUSE HE DOESN’T HAVE THEIR EARS. HE HASN’T MADE ANY MUSIC RECENTLY BESIDES “DAUGHTERS” THAT SEEMS COMPELLING. I THINK THE LEGEND OF NAS GROWS BC OF WHAT HE ISN’T. HE DOESN’T PARADE AROUND IN VANITY.HIS INTELLIGENT DELIVERY IS WHAT EARNS HIM HIS RESPECT BECAUSE IT FLOWS’ SO ARTISTIC & EFFORTLESS. WHEN YOU HAVE THAT TYPE OF COMMAND & CHARM, AND YOU ARE HUMBLE – YOU BECOME A PART OF PPL WHO APPRECIATE THAT.. I DON’T THINK HE’S FOCUSED ON CHANGING THE WORLD RIGHT NOW… DISTANT RELATIVES WAS SICK – IT WUOLD BE DOPE TO SEE IF HE COULD DELIVER ART THAT IS BLATANTLY MADE TO PUSH SOCIETY IN A POSITIVE DIRECTION- I’LL STAY TUNED- BUT PROPHET – NAH.. JUST PROBABLY THE GOAT

          4. marty mcfly says:

I don’t think God is in all music because there’s alot of music out there that don’t sound like God would agree with what’s being said. Yeah Nas is a man but what is a prophet? A man (or woman) that becomes a vessel for the word of God. Now there are many people that put messages and intellectual, positive etc… messaging in their words. Here’s the difference between most of them and Nas, people actually listen to Nas, at least when it comes to Hip Hop that is. Maybe not now but in the mid 90s yeah. You keep talking as if Nas was supposed to change the world or something? Maybe is purpose was to be a rapper and people would hear his albums and get a different perspective period. The youth can make their own damn decisions because the youth is hard headed. Nas doesn’t have to impact the youth unless they choose to listen and then apply to themselves a level of intellect that Nas uses in life but if they wanna listen to Chief Keef and Bobby Shmurder then thats their choice. Nas aint just another conscious rapper, his influence goes beyond that and Nas aint just drop two or three albums and then go somewhere else, he’s multiple albums in and he continues to rap with an extreme level of messaging that most rappers can not and certainly can’t for 20 years of a whole career. So when I say Nas is a prophet its not just based on some divinely majestic perception of what a prophet is as if it means Nas must carry wings on his back? No, he’s a prophet because thats the outcome of his life overall, thats how millions of people see him (even if they don’t realize thats how they see him) and there are hundreds of songs from him that suggest he is just that. So its not just guessing if he’s a prophet or not, its based on a large volume of evidence. There are many rappers who are spitting in a way thats similar to what Nas would say, the difference is the position Nas holds in Hip Hop and how he is most likely the core source influence of all the other conscious rappers. Illmatic is like the fucking bible in Hip Hop culture and thats not by Nas forcing his will, thats by a number of circumstances that led to the creation, delivery and acceptance of Nas and that album. Prophecy

          5. bronxbillyunz says:

ILLMATIC WAS THE BEST HIP HOP ALBUM I EVER HEARD. THAT HAS NOTHIN TO DO WITH PROPHECY. IT WAS A REFLECTION OF THE LIFE & TIMES OF A KID IN TEH PROJECTS WHO STUDIED HIP HOP & LYRICISM TO THE POINT HE WAS ABLE TO PAINT THE ILLEST PICTURES OF HIS REALITY USING THE ART FORM HE LOVED. I WON’T ARGUE IF HE’S A PROPHET OR NOT, HE IS DIFFERENT THINGS TO DIFFERENT PPL & CLEARLY TO U HE IS A PROPHET IN WHATEVER SENSE OF THE WORD. WE BOTH AGREE HE’S ILL BUT I DO BELIEVE HE DOES HAVE THE POWER TO IMPACT MAJOR CHANGE & INFLUENCE MASSES INTENTIONALLY HOW OBAMA HAD THE CHARISMA & LIKEABILITY THROUGH HIS FIRST CAMPAIGN WHERE HE WAS SO POPULAR PPL JUST WANTED TO SEE & HEAR HIM SPEAK.. NAS HAS THAT ABILITY IF HE REALLY FOCUSED TO HAVE THAT TYPE OF IMPACT – PRESIDENTIAL PODIUM STYLE. HE HAS THE RESPECT OF NOT ONLY HIP HOP FIGURES, BUT CNN HONORED HIS WRITING, MARK ZUCKERBURG HAD DINNER WITH HIM – I MEAN , I AGREE GOD SPEAKS THRU HIIM IN A WAY HE CAN GET CERTAIN MESSAGES ACROSS TO PPL IN WAYS REALLY NO OTHER RAPPER HAS DONE BEFORE – THATS WHY I FEEL HE COULD IMPACT SOME POSITIVE MASS CHANGE, MESSAGE OR FORCE IN SOCIETY.. & PROMOTE IT AS THAT LIKE, THIS IS WHAT IM DOING,ETC – THEN I MIGHT AGREE ABOUT THE PROPHET THING – BUT FOR RIGHT NOW – HE’S ONE OF TBE

          6. marty mcfly says:

So outta a million Hip Hop albums, Illmatic is the best you ever heard? Thats the same way a million plus people feel… You have all these nice things to say about Nas and you agree God speaks through him but yet me saying that there is overwhelming evidence that supports the claim that Nas is a prophet is still not agreeable in your opinion? Yeah Ok

          7. bronxbillyunz says:

JUST HE DREW THE BEST PICTURE & CREATED THE BEST MUSICAL BODY OF WORK IN THE GENRE DOESN’T MAKE HIM A PROPHET.. JUST BECAUSE OTHERS AGREE WITH ME DOESN’T MAKE HIM A PROPHET. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY LINES JAY-Z SPIT THAT WERE PROPHETIC? I CAN NAME A FEW…

          8. marty mcfly says:

Again, my comments are about the evidence that supports the claim that Nas may very well be a prophet. If you wanna throw Jayz in there too then go ahead. The thing is this. Young people can go listen to a preacher and get the same messages that Nas and Jay been saying for years but they have chosen to listen to Nas and Jay and a few others and thats because something that Nas is saying is connecting. Now if Nas made one or two songs that connected in a particular way then cool but we not just talking a connection made to the music, we talking a connection made to the messages… Nas has done that over and over for the last 20 years. You know how many rhymes can take up two decades? Nas lyrics could probably fill up a whole section at a library at this point. This is about evidence that backs up the claim that Nas is a prophet. Its not me just saying it, its backed up by song after song after song and it is not comparable to most other rappers because people aint listening to them for the same purpose people choose to listen to Nas. Whether people realize it or not, they press play on a Nas song with expectations of hearing something prophetic. THAT is what makes him a prophet. Not my opinion, the last two decades of his work.

          9. bronxbillyunz says:

PERSONALLY IF YOUR LISTENING TO NAS FOR PROPHECY, THATS PERSONAL. I’M FAMILIAR W/ NAS’ WORK & IF YOU CAN TELL ME 3 BARS OF PROPHECY HE SPIT – I’D LUV TO HEAR IT. IF YOU FEEL HE IS A PROPHET, I’M NOT HERE TO CHANGE YOUR MIND. BUT PROPHETIC BARS DON’T LIE, SO PLEASE REFRESH MY MEMORY.

          10. marty mcfly says:

Every thing Nas said on Illmatic, I Gave You Power and If I Ruled The World. Again that covers 94 – 96. Now before those albums came out people were saying Nas would have an effect on the consciousness of Hip Hop culture. Illmatic was the fulfillment of that and the evidence of that is why millions of people hold this one same album in such high regard as the holy grail of what Hip Hop should be at its purest form. Yes people have said that about other albums but its the hindsight that allows us to see people wasn’t just saying whatever about Illmatic, its is indeed what everybody says it is down to the letter. Illmatic as an entire body of work is prophetic and its the people listening to it and holding it in such regard that made it that way. Illmatic was not received in the same way that other albums with similar success was received. In 2014 chances are if you ask somebody whats the best Hip Hop album? They gonna say Illmatic 20 years later and if you ask what’s so special about Nas? The characteristics they list is gonna be that of a prophet. Again, Nas doesn’t have to tell the future to be a prophet. He is a vessel for a higher consciousness that has effected the culture for two decades and effected the minds of millions of people in a way that is different from say Puff Daddy. So you ask what bars are prophetic? Every bar on Illmatic… We not talking about songs like New World, and I Wanna Talk To You where Nas gave glimpses of the future, we talking about a mentality on the part of Nas that explains in detail multiple conditions in america and the intention behind his words and the way they are received is why he’s prophetic. Again, Im not just saying he’s a prophet? Im speaking on the evidence of his work that suggests he is. Im speaking on the work. Many of Nas’s songs go deeper then just bars and entertainment and that as alot to do with his intention but his music also suggests a connection with a higher intelligence. Many MCs can make up thoughtful rhymes. When you have the author of Illmatic doing it for 20 years? Thats beyond just rhyming at that point. The volume of work behind Nas is what makes him a prophet and the break down of what he’s saying makes him a prophet. It aint just dope rhymes at the end of a song. Its the meaning behind almost each rhyme in a Nas song that goes beyond what all the other MCs can do. That is a higher level of conscious. Now if others can do it now in 2014 thats fine. Some like Rakim and KRS One could do it before Nas. However when Nas was 18 he was writing rhymes well beyond his age and beyond even the present day in 2014 because again chances are even in 2024 if you ask somebody whats the best Hip Hop album? They gonna say Illmatic. That level of messaging lyrical suggest a prophet level of consciousness.

          11. bronxbillyunz says:

YOUR DEFINITION OF PROPHET – a mentality on the part of Nas that explains in detail multiple conditions in america and the intention behind his words and the way they are received is why he’s prophetic.

IF YOU SAY SO MY FRIEND. I THOUGHT A PROPHET TOLD U SOMETHING YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT WOULD HAVE A MASS IMPACT ON THE WORLD. NOT A RANDOM PREDICTION OR A REFLECTION OF WHAT EVERYONE IN THE HOOD SEES PUT INTO AN AESTHETICALLY POETIC HIP HOP VERSE. HE’S CONSCIOUS & HE COMMUNICATES THOSE IDEAS TO RELATE TO PEOPLE; THAT’S A GREAT RAPPER TO ME. IF THAT’S A PROPHET TO YOU, I REST MY CASE. WHEN ILLMATIC CAME OUT, DIDDY HAD NO MILLIONS, THERE WAS NO AFFLUENT RAPPERS – BLACK AMERICA ON A WHOLE FOR HTE MOST PART WAS HOOD – AND HE WROTE THE SOUNDTRACK OF THE TIME & CAPTURED THAT ON ILLMATIC. – IT WAS MAGICAL & THE COVER ART WAS CRYPTIC – IT WAS SOMEWHAT A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE FOR ME AS WELL BECAUSE THE BEATS WAS PERFECT. I’M NOT MAD AT YOU FOR HOW YOU FEEL. I DON’T THINK THE MESSAGES WERE THERE TO QUALIFY IT AS PROPHETIC, BUT THE QUALITY & WHAT IT MEANT TO A GENERATION HAD TO BE FROM GOD BECAUSE THAT ALBUM WAS TRULY A GIFT.

          12. marty mcfly says:

A prophet can tell you something that you didnt know and have very little effect on the world and still be a prophet. The world is gonna do what it wants to do and whether a prophets words effects the world or not still does not take away the message of his words. The thing your missing is Nas has effected the world. You keep implying some kinda impact on the world makes somebody prophetic? Well what do you think the impact of Nas is? How many people have listened to a Nas album on this planet? At least what 15 million different people? If not more? Thats not gonna change the entire globe but thats impact right there. That has an effect on the minds of the masses. Now if a prophet tells you something you dont know that would have mass impact on the world? What do you think Nas has been doing for 20 years? You say everyone in the hood sees what Nas sees? I doubt everyone in the hood even thinks like Nas so therefore the things he has said most likely was based in information that alot of people in the hood were hearing for the first time. Nas on If I Ruled The World talks about the “Lost tribe of Shabazz”, “I civilized every savage”, “open every cell in Attica, send’em to Africa”… These kinda rhymes speak from a certain knowledge and perspective that I doubt everyone in the hood thinks about. I didnt say a great rapper is a prophet to me. I said there is overwhelming evidence that supports the claim that NAS is indeed a prophet. That is based on his words and how they were received by people and held onto for the last 20 years.

          13. marty mcfly says:

And all that positive change you think he could make he already made. When people heard Illmatic and began to think with a different perspective in terms of Hip Hop and life in general as it relates to Hip Hop or life in the inner city… THAT was the positive change right there, that was the impact of change for the masses right there… So what your saying Nas can do with his influence he already did. Between the years of 94 and 96 he impacted millions of people with the message and influence of his music.

          14. bronxbillyunz says:

TRUE.. BUT HE CAN’T LIVE OFF HIS REPUTATION & WE CAN’T MAKE THAT HIS LIMITATION. HE HAS THE PENGAME NOW THAT SOCIAL MEDIA & INTERNET ARE AVAILABLE TO PUSH A REAL AGENDA FOR POSITIVE CHANGE FOR THE INNER CITY YOUTH OF TODAY. HIS ART WAS INSPIRING TO MILLIONS, BUT IT WASN’T ANYTHING BUT ART – THERE WAS NO POSITIVE DIRECTIVES – IT WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL ART – TO ME IT DIDNT CHANGE ANY PERSPECTIVES OR PROPOSE ANY SOLUTIONS – THE POSITIVE CHANGE WAS IT UPHELD THE INTEGRITY OF THE MUSIC & HELD RAPPERS TO A HIGHER LYRICAL STANDARD WHICH IS GOOD, BUT IM TALKIN ABOUT UPWARD MOBILITY EFFECTS ON SOCIETY.

          15. marty mcfly says:

Yeah he can live off his reputation because every human being on earth is judged off actions they already made in connection to their reputation so how is it any different for Nas? Again, Nas already did what you asking him to do. Illmatic is regarded as the greatest rap album and yeah it was art but the delivery of it was based in upholding a certain intelligence even if you in the hood. That right there is a change and has upward progressive effects. Its not up to Nas to change society before society chooses to change itself. Its not up to Nas to propose solutions (his music also has plenty of that), because how many genius people are there in society? “Society” is a few billion people and you want Nas to make decisions for everybody? Society has to make decisions for society. The youth want to act like idiots so let them… Nas aint gonna change that. What needs to happen with the youth is they need to learn the hard way because they don’t wanna listen to anybody older the 25. They wanna bust their guns and kill each other… Well if thats what they wanna do? Then let them go learn the hard way.

  7. Upheaval says:

Not as dope as thought it was from the snippet.

He’s rambling (flow & subject matter wise). The song seems to exist without purpose.

    1. Southside Slick says:

          2. Epul says:

Intimidated? Nah, I just know for a fact no normal person talks like that on a day to day basis unless they’re trying to impress someone.

          3. Upheaval says:

Lol @ ‘for a fact’. Millions of people talk like this without even trying.

  11. Kwame Adjaye says:

Electronica ripped this beat already. He did a better job too.

  12. MegaGirl says:

I think Nas should retire, I only see him hurting his legacy from now on. I’m sick of him trying to be some kinda hero in the hip hop community, because he is not. No one is paying attention to him, it’s that simple. Nas talks bad about women just as much if not more than Jay-Z. He got a middle school education, I bet he can barely read and he thinks he’s an intellectual?

    1. Kensei says:

are you stupid or just retarded?! opinions are like asses. and yours is on your mouth

    2. Bitch, get the fuck off this site immediately & never return.

      Sincerely, Entire Hip-Hop Community.

    3. Ryuk918 says:

NaS last album was a great body of work. He recently acquired Mass Appeal and made some quality signings to the label. To say no one is talking about or paying attention to NaS is to admit that you don’t truly listen to the genre.

    4. He doesn’t have to retire but MegaGirl has a point… Nas at this point already reached the climax of his career and it’s all about how long he can maintain it or sustain his fall. 20 years down the line looking at Cormega’s Mega Philosophy vs Nas’ Life Is Good. Take away all the money, the fame and other external factors. Cormega was still doing it for the culture not because he had to make child support.

    5. Didn’t read the last part of MegaGirl’s comment. Nas dropped out of elementary school… grew up in the projects… Knowledge and experiences that can only be gained from living, instead of reading books and googling wikipedia in your safe room in the suburbs. Nas gets invited to speak at schools like Harvard.

    6. ShortDogg says:

You are the first dummy in the world, congratulations!

    7. ShortDogg says:

How dumb are you? Are you slow?

  13. "hustlemania" says:

    Dope joint

  14. poetic assasin says:

People are saying this sounds like a freestyle and not a song – then what was the J Electronica version then?

Feeling this track – wasn’t groundbreaking but it was needed – anticipating the album

  15. Darriu$ says:

Yeeeeaaahhh NY respect the King man!! Run these fake niggas out the town.

  16. Wow. Swear I just wrote to Gobstobber. Smh QUEEN$ MINDSTATE! #TIMELESS

    THIS SHIT LIT. #SeasonOfNasir

  17. Fiyah says:

No disrespect, but J. Dilla is wildly overrated. If an unknown producer made this beat no one would care because its just a shitty loop and that’s it.

    1. MIKEY ESCO says:

Let the man rip fuck boi u Internet bamas make me sick

      1. Fiyah says:

So let me get this straight, Dilla can’t rest in peace because I said he’s overrated? Right. Whether he’s dead or not, the beat is still trash and you’re still an idiot for blindly liking something just because the creator is dead.

        1. MIKEY ESCO says:

No fuck boi just tired of fake rap critics like u stfu and go play in traffic fag

          1. GetReal says:
