Cam’Ron Announces Final Album

Bow Out.

Rappers never retire—or do they? Cam took to his Twitter account yesterday to reveal that his next album Purple Haze 2, will be last. In a short chat with Miss Info, Killa briefly explains why he’s hanging it up.

Info: Are you really going to retire from rap?

Cam: Yeah. It’s a wrap. Time to move on.

*pours out a little sizzurp*

Info: Well, you made yourself a legend, and the music will last forever. So what will you focus on next?

Cam: Thanks, Min. Movies and clothing are doing really well for me right now. I’m helping Mendeecees [Yandy’s husband fromLove and Hip Hop NY] with his album. And…I’m building a club in Vegas.

      1. Troy Simera says:

It’s a shame that rap music is so disposable these days, as rappers shouldn’t feel the need to feel “too old”

        1. Dafuq says:

need that commercial branding. Cam is too gully.

Killa made a brilliant decision, cause the game is fucked up right now.

  11. jussayin says:

Cams influence on the game is undeniable….its highly unlikely that dude is just gonna stay away from the studio for life…but this means we’re not gonna hear a lot of cam at least for a while and that in itself is sad. Dipset was my life for a few years. Im talking from Cam all the way down to J.R Writer…i’m from boston and their whole movement had me felling like a harlem dude.

    1. Supa_Doopa_Ghost1 says:

Same here. I’m from Memphis, and niggas that didnt know me swore I was from Harlem, from the slang to the clothes. Dipset forever.

    2. Dafuq says:

  17. RGeezy says:

What happened to the Cam x A-Trak project?

  18. smccarthy945 says:

Well when you don’t make any money anymore, what is the point. The artists are not making anything from tours, sales, merch, etc. It’s just not worth the time anymore. Even the big name people are not making much at the end of the day. The rap game is the most skewed business I have ever seen.

You have this incredible reach and demand and yet the people putting out the music don’t see any of the money except in rare cases (IE. Dr Dre) and that was not off music – it was off headphones and a brand.

It’s just not worth the time anymore unless you have a plan to use rap as a way to move into another business. That’s really the only way to see any real money anymore. The cost to tour is ridiculous and very few people even book anyone except for the pop acts. Look at Pete Rock’s tour schedule for 2015 – He has only 1 show booked so far for the year. Here is a guy who is a certified legend with huge records and production and he can’t even get shows booked.

The days of hip hop festivals is over. Why do you think Outkast and all these people are so reluctant to tour or do anything? Because the money sucks compared to the amount of work it takes.

I hope there is a day where artists see the money they are worth – especially rappers.

      ^
Not if your Eminem, Jay Z, Kanye.

  19. Ayo says:

    Working on who’s album?

Yo Flea can you give Vado all that swag scampi back? Maybe light a fire under Juelz? The movies are cool tho, I wanna check those…how about finishing the fuckin First Of The Month movie god?

  20. HotSun10 says:

Cam retiring from rap is temporary like when Jay said he would retire and came back 2 years later with another album. Cam & Dipset made a huge impact on the game and have a few classics under their belt not to mention setting trends on how people should dress. I guess the Dipset reunion album is not gonna happen but like all great movements everything has to come to an end.

  21. polopolo1 says:

Lol Nobody Every retires from music. as soon as inspiration attacks you, youll be back

  22. sway-z says:

Purple Haze was definitely my favorite Cam album, it has some filler and shit, but as a whole, it still bangs, shit had some dope production. “Soap Opera” & “More Reasons” with Jaheim should’ve been singles…

  23. shitstirrer says:

Fans throw around the word classic way too much. You can love an album and bump that shit all day , but that dont make it a classic. Cam had dope songs a a few good albums but saying one of his albums classics waters down true classics,Doggystyle, The Chronic, Cuban Linx,
