XXL Back? Well, at least it is for now. And with with new regime comes a new cover star, Kendrick Lamar. No date on when the issue hits newsstands, but peep K.Dot’s vignette above.
Wait, what? I thought XXL went belly-up, is this their first digital-cover/digital release or is it actually hitting newsstands? I shouldn’t have more questions than answers you fucking “journalists”
xxl didn’t go belly up. They were bought by somebody else and the new owner/owners decided to keep XXL in digital format.
I meant that they said they would no longer be producing physicals/moved their headquarters etc and now…they’re back? I’m glad but damn some info from these “journalists” would be nice

XXL usually does double , triple and quadrouple covers with different artists….unless someone from RocNation dropped the ball, yes your right. Cole definitely deserved a XXL Cover.

That’s really piss poor for someone of his stature for the lead single of a 2nd album. It didn’t even crack top 10 on the hip hop charts & only reached 8 on the rap charts.
Kendrick’s single never take off until the after the album drops – Same thing happened with Swimming Pools & Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe
Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe dropped after the album & Swimming Pools peaked on the charts the week after his album dropped but it was rising on the charts every week before then so that’s not technically true. Also, “i” is performing better commercially than Swimming Pools but honestly they’re both bad lead singles
There’s more to it than that…I’ve heard “i” in TV shows, commercials, and movie trailers…it definitely had impact.

The only way to know if GKMC is a classic is if in 2021, ten years after its release if thats the album people still go back to as an example of Hip Hop excellence. Thats not even the case in 2014.
people still talk about that album whether they considered it a classic or hated it – the impact is definitely still there bruh – not sure that it’ll be the same for cole’s album (which is a really good album but not AMAZING)
Talking about the album and impact doesn’t make it classic though. Alot of mainstream and commercially released albums were talked about and made impact.

Isaiah Rashad nd Logic both dropped tough ass projects, plus Cole dropped a pretty good joint, the year really wasn’t that bad

J.Cole cover is much needed tho, I mean I love K dot but niggas gonna act like J.Cole ain’t Drop an album of the Year tho and will have the biggest first week sales for hip hop. Anyways King Kendrick need to drop that album.

For the people who dont know.. Print needs 3 month lead time. Kendrick was promoting for a few months now… Cole snuck up on everyone and as dope as it was Print doesn’t move that fast.. He’ll probably get Billboard Cover though… that’s a weekly
