YG, DJ Mustard Ty Dolla $ign Cover ‘The Source’

3 The Hard Way.

No doubt about it, YG, DJ Mustard and Ty Dolla $ign all had 2014 on lock down. With that being said, it is only right that the trio take the cover for The Source‘s final issue of the year. Peep an excerpt and alternate cover below.

One thing people might not know about YG:

YG is all-inclusive. Though a member of the Tree Top Piru Bloods, his inner circle includes members from rival gangs–even his mother. “My momma Crip, she from a Crip neighborhood,” he said laughing. His relationships supersede  gang affiliations, which is perhaps how he can seamlessly trade verses with the likes of ScHoolboy Q on his album, who raps the Hoover Street Crip set. “I’m the reason why we got Blood n****s and we got Crip n****s in one click–that’s me,” he proudly exclaimed.

Ty Dolla $ign almost threw it all away:

“I used to produce with this other dude named G Casso, and when he died that f*****d me up. He got killed. He got killed and it f****d me up to where I didn’t even feel like making beats like that, you know, that was another reason why I slowed down.”

Being producer of the year is no joke:

“That’s what a lot of people don’t understand, like, this is more than producing,” he explains. They don’t understand that this is a full-time job. It’s not like I’m just making a beat and Big Sean happens to stumble into the studio. It’s not like that.” […] “People take it lightly. You gotta grind for what you want and really take it to the next level–it’s a different era. It’s really just [about] changing the sound up, not staying the same.”

There’s more.

In honor of YG, Ty and Mustard’s feat, we figured we’d still need to honor them with dual covers. So, presenting the alternative cover, which will be available for digital purchase on Tuesday, December 23.

@RR I really want to know why is YG being pushed to the mainstream so hard? not 1 thing about him stands out neither lyrics nor flow nor his delivery, he doesn’t even have any sorts of charisma at all…guess that Def Jam money is being pumped in hard…smh

    1. Non Fiction Dixon says:

You find someone who put out a better cohesive album than he did this year?…..Dont worry ill wait

      1. Groovy says:

Quite easy actually, Cadillactica! And when you use that word “cohesive” also try look out for the dictionary meaning next time because just putting some trash skits on your album doesn’t make it cohesive at all.

        1. Non Fiction Dixon says:

Krit put better mixtapes than Cadillactica I was highly disappointed because Krit is easily Krit is top 5. My Krazy Life was a dope album bottom line!

  12. Hollywood says:

And the nominees for the Craig Mack “You Won’t be Around Next Year” Awards are……

Man just look at Hip Hop Culture…. Look…. Lol Mustard look like he getting fatter the longer you look at the picture. YG is this years “The Game”, and what’s the difference between Ty Dolla Sign & his evil twin brother Cash Out. Where is the element of surprise, where is the nostalgia, where is the magic which was once coveted in this culture. The most you can say is “we young & we getting money”…. Ha!!!! this is Hip Hop… Today… The day of the corny side of the lunch room took over

  13. Kip Thanatos says:

The Source is still around? WTF. How are they still relevant?
