I thought sonically and thematically it was a great project. Lyrically, he is still in this weird half-commercial purgatory, but I thought it was a solid project. Why do you dislike it?

I just don’t get how you could say it was better than More About Nothing, even Back to the Feature, even Ambition was better than this crap. I just don’t get it. There’s nothing more to discuss..have you not listened to More About Nothing?
I have. And I can definitely understand the case for saying More About Nothing and Back to the Feature being better. I think Ambition is a stretch though. That album was flat and a high failure of trying to crossover lyrically without changing artistic identity. The only dignified and memorable track was the title track.
But I’m mainly wanting to know what makes people pan Festivus? There is a lot of hate for this tape and I feel like it is more cohesive than his last efforts. He taps the trap sound with Loyalty without preaching trap antics. He approaches narcotic use from an intellectual exhausted party-goer perspective on Girls on Drugs. The back and forth with AbSoul is rhyme tennis at its best. The production is B-grade throughout.
Wale’s career is a phenomenon of mixed public opinion. I just want to understand what makes people like/not like his projects.
Honestly that’s such a broad question that I could answer in a 1000 different ways. Be specific.
