A couple of weeks ago in Australia, Ice Cube premiered the trailer for the upcoming N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Directed by F. Gary Gray, the film is set to hit theaters on August 14. The cast includes Paul Giamatti (Jerry Heller) and Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr.
they all coulda just put on a bunch of makeup and played themselves, they were mostly actors anyways

I think the area they need to tread lightly and not hollywood up is the relationship between Heller and Eazy, Paul Giamatti is the man so I was going into trusting that all would be ok but I am not so sure now. Make the relationships real and the dialogue real. If you want to throw in parties with naked women and gang banging that there is no way of knowing happened in fine, that’s hollywood. But don’t misrepresent the words.

2015 is going to be a good year for the culture. this movie. NWA and PE inducted in rock and roll hall of fame. probably a great time for a Dre album. more resistance and black youth discovering knowledge of self. Strong albums from Kanye, Kendrick, and Tink might bring Jay Elec out of his shell. Gas prices going down. Obama getting in his fuck you, rope-a-dope bag. Hollow vs. Clips. total slaughter 2. and that’s just the stuff we already know about.
