New Music: Jay Electronica “Road To Perdition”

Let That Bitch Breathe.

The road to Jay Electronica’s Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn) has been long and tiresome. But today, relief comes in the form of this leak featuring Jay Z. Unfortunately, Hov’s vocals are merely a sample from, “Success”.

Dude can spit but his voice is just fucking boring. He really got bars tho. I feel like if Kendrick touched this beat he would have a million flows and attack this shit like a killer. Idk. Jay miss me sometimes

    1. K.dot finatic says:

Kendrick would sell his mother’s soul to be on Jay’s level. Period.

      1. Donn says:

I disagree. It wasn’t Electronica verse ppl talked about on Control. I love lyrics, I think lyrically Jay is a nicer emcee then Kendrick but Kendrick is has the overall art down. The cadences. The flow, the delivery, song structure, beat selection. I’ll put it like this, Jay Electronica is a rapper. Kendrick is an ARTIST. Jay is just gonna rap that is all he can do but Kendrick will create melodies, harmonize. Then rap, then add a chick in the background, then do the alien voice then a bridge. He is a more well rounded artist

        1. Kingly_Caracter says:

          YES.

        2. THE REAL mac DIESEL says:

YOU’RE ABOUT TO MAKE B.DOT RUN TO HIS ROOM AND CRY!!!! HA!!!!

          DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

        3. Starpoint feat Renee Diggs says:

          Well said.

        4. Kev says:

You must be mixing something potent with your chronic.

Jay Electronica is a better artist, Kendrick is a better rapper. Listen to all the music both of them put out. Theyre both amazing artists at the end of the day but Jay Electronica is like Lord of the Rings and Kendrick is Harry Potter.

          1. Jake Zero says:

So that’d mean Jay is a better artist AND a better rapper because Lord Of The Rings is better than Harry Potter on every single level

        5. Kendrick finatic says:

Kendrick verse on control was 5 minutes of gibberish. Elect verses are always full of substance and truth. Period.

          1. Da Business says:

            Stop it

I’d agree that Jay’s verse was overlooked but, Kendrick’d verse being gibberish is nonsense.

          2. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

Kendrick’s verse is overrated. People just took the name calling lyric and ran wild with it

          3. Da Business says:

U have a point B. Dot. But overrated, is a bit of a stretch, my g. That verse shook up the culture and it wasn’t even a diss record. He was giving them props and n!99@$ got all in their feelings. Yes, the name drops took the track to another level but, even if u take that out, it’s still a dope verse.

          4. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

But like Drake said, how does that verse even begin? Nobody knows. The verse as a whole wasn’t memorable, just that lyric.

          5. Da Business says:

The beginning of that was more/less a bridge. The verse itself didn’t start until he said “Tell Flex to drop a bomb on this bitch” I’ll give that about the brigde. But the rest of the verse, nah. U saying that hurts my heart B. Dot. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

          6. cmonhomiewemajor says:

it is overrated, but Jay Elec lost to Sean and Kendrick on that song

          7. DRAG says:

I think it was a shock tactic that worked for him b/c until that point he’d never done that . If Game would have done that exact verse bar for bar name for name, no one would have cared cause that’s Game’s style/gimmick

          8. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

            Yup

          9. GetReal says:

Listen to his Monster Freestyle then come back.

          10. GetReal says:

Listen to his Monster Freestyle then come back

      2. yeah says:

        That’s not realistic.

      3. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

lyrically? Like, put a beat on and who has better bars: I think Elect will have him beat

        1. brza says:

Agreed! Kendrick is nice with it but Electronica spits like a Ginsu

  2. I need that album this year.

  3. LēTeck says:

    Spitting that real shit

  4. Jay says:

    Sheeeeshhh oh yeahhhhh

  16. 400_Degreez says:

Who cares!!! Drop a fuckin project

  17. Drexler says:

how has this guy not dropped an album? everything he puts out is fire whether its the beat or his bars. he might be the best rapper to never release an album

  18. TylerOkonma says:

    Drop that Album Jay E

  19. L Train says:

This nigga get on my nerve dropping this suppose to be jewel. Gtfoh he can rap and all but he’s a very boring entertainer. He acts like he’s gona change the state of hip hop Gtfoh with this bullshit. U missed the boat elect, the reason your not dropping a album is because it won’t do no numbers. He’s just tryin to stay relevant just like every other new school rapper in the game right now. He is nothin special

    1. cmonhomiewemajor says:

“He’s just tryin to stay relevant”

he drops 1 song a year you idiot

      1. L Train says:

And ya point is what? 1 song is all u need these days to stay relevant stupid, and nut slurper like u and presto. You need too stop ball clappin nigga you faggot ass pubic hair muncher. Stay the fuck out my lane

        1. cmonhomiewemajor says:

Haha so much gay shit here

          I think youre projecting

          1. L Train says:

Only a faggot nigga would say what u just said

    2. JP says:

I bet you he will do numbers though if he drops it. Anybody who has ever been a Jay Elec. fan is going to cop the album. Not to the mention the ridiculous stand Jay has, they’re going to support him like crazy. Every rapper in the game respects him and they’re going to support him. All they got to do is make a simple album shoutout to their fans, and many of those fans will probably cop. As far was what kind of numbers, I don’t know but I bet he’ll sell more than Big Sean.

      1. L Train says:

If he was gone do numbers he would have dropped his album. He and every other rapper knows that if u don’t drop some goofy ass trap bullshit your going to do double wood

        1. marty mcfly says:

You more concerned with numbers then content which is why you don’t think he’s dropping jewels and why you think he can’t change the game with his lyricism… I hope Act 2 Patents of Nobility drops and puts your opinion to rest. Whether he does numbers or not really isn’t of much concern to the people interested in what he has to say.

          1. L Train says:

This nigga job title is a entertainer, he has to pay his bills with the money that he make from his job if he sell 1 cd how the fuck is people listening to him gone pay the fuckin bills.

          2. marty mcfly says:

I don’t think the people listening to his music care how much money he has. When Nas drops an album most times he don’t sell much and nobody gives a shit. However Nas is valued for his music not how many units he can sell first week. I don’t think Jay Elec will have any problems whatsoever selling units but if so I can’t say I really give a fuck. Its about the music to me.

          3. GetReal says:

the only problem is Nas had his reign, you’re out of your mind if you think this guy Jay Elec doesnt care about numbers, he’s a business man before this rap shit, which is evident by the fact he hasnt dropped shit, if he truly cared about the art he would just drop an album instead he’s on this “1 verse a year like I’m andre 3000 to keep me in the best conversation” shit miss me with the BS

          4. marty mcfly says:

I don’t think he cares about number to a degree in which you me be implying because if that were the case he should make sure his music is wack so it can sell alot. The way he raps suggests he’s much more concerned with what he’s saying then how much it sells. Even if he was concerned with numbers? Who cares because that still means he has to delivery music and also he was a rapper first before a business man because he wasn’t getting paid to rap years ago.

          5. marty mcfly says:

If his album drops and sells zero copies, thats not really my problem cause I just care about the music and Jay Elec is only gonna trip to a degree as well because he’s making money regardless. I’m sure he doesn’t do shows and tours for free. I’m just saying overall if you take an artist like Jay Elec and you really concerned with numbers? So much so that it becomes more important then the actual music? Then you not really paying attention to why Jay Elec can tour with no album in the first place… The music is powerful. Plus the chances of him not selling is slim. If this dude announced that his album was dropping on Tuesday… Fools would be lined up around the corner for this guys music.

          6. GetReal says:

I myself could careless about the numbers, Im saying that Jay Elec does and that is exactly why he hasn’t dropped his album, there is no grand scheme, he isn’t being strategic, he’s simply scared, the way he has tricked you niggas into putting him in some magnificent goat like pedestal is extremely impressive Im not knockin it, its just like minds cant be fooled, I see right through everything going on with this dude (who CAN rhyme)

          7. marty mcfly says:

So you talked to Jay Electronica about why he hasn’t released an album? Now he has said himself that the reason why he hasn’t released an album is for purely artistic reasons and that nobody his holding him back but himself. He said he wants it to be the best music possible so he just keeps working on it. Now if he is concerned about numbers? Who cares? Thats all I’m saying. I can’t see why because clearly an army of people are willing to buy the album but if he’s worried about numbers it doesn’t make a difference because the music still has to come out anyway. The reason he’s on a pedestal is because people listened to his music. Does he force people to listen? No, but they do cause the shit is dope. If Jay Elec is like somewhere really stressing over numbers that can’t even be generated without an album coming out first well then he’s a retard cause that logic don’t even make sense. He’s doing shows all over the world and has the entire Hip Hop culture going ape shit over his music? If he’s really scared (of basically being rich and successful because at this point sells is certain for him), then maybe is crazy. Anyway, thats not an issue for me, thats his problem if thats even the case.

          8. marty mcfly says:

Like JE has thousands of people personally coming up to him praising him all over the world and its been that way for years… He makes a song and people act like Jesus is rapping. If he’s worried about numbers then he’s crazy. He has to be in the top ten most likely to do numbers with a debut album in Hip Hop history. People act like Jay Elec is like 50 Cent, Em and Drake levels of hype when he drops a song.

          9. marty mcfly says:

Not to mention this guy has Jayz, Kanye and Diddy on his album… and the support of RocNation and the entire Hip Hop culture in a frenzy. If he’s worried about numbers? Common sense should tell its no need to worry about that at all. His album would be an instant classic almost the same hour it dropped…

          10. GetReal says:

instant classic? his music is great bro, but you’re stanning a dude a who doesn’t even have a albums worth of music

          11. marty mcfly says:

He does have an album worth of music and I’m not stanning either because where have you been for the last half decade? You know how many people fuck with his music? It aint just me fool. Yes the album would be an instant classic. Unless its as bad as Iggy rapping because the anticipation for it alone puts it in the class of instant classic. Its almost a certainty that every hip hop head on the planet will listen to that album. That alone is crazy.

          12. marty mcfly says:

This guy has about 50 songs all over the net but he’s been touring the globe for years with no album, he hardly does any interviews and he has like barely any social media presence… This dude has been all over the world off the strength of Exhibit A and C and Eternal Sunshine. You are either delusional, a hater or you must think I’m the only one thats interested in his album? In all cases you’d be wrong. Right now its people that act like they aint tripping off his music but let that album get a release date? People gonna be losing they damn minds for that album. Thats just common sense if you’ve been paying attention all these years.

          13. marty mcfly says:

Nas’s debut is the reason why he even had a reign and that album flopped.

    3. GetReal says:

this is the realist comment I seen, I agree he has bars, but he isn’t revolutionary at all its other artists just like him out here, Lupe spits the exact same shit when he wants, and a host of other artists, only problem is Jay is scared he will drop and flop (which he will)

      1. marty mcfly says:

Lupe and Jay Elec don’t spit the same shit and Jay Elec is revolutionary for three reasons, style, his position and the attention he gets when he raps and because of Eternal Sunshine and Exhibit C… The point of those two records is revolutionary. Not revolutionary in a militant way but revolutionary in a ideological way because he crossed religious beliefs in order to expose a commonality between them. That just does not happen on record in Hip Hop. It wasn’t happening like that when those songs were released and the attention he got for those songs were because he had struck a chord with people all over the world with those songs. THAT was indeed “revolutionary”…

        1. GetReal says:

like i said Lupe spits the exact same shit when he WANTS to, don’t try to tell me different, I know what I’ve heard

          1. marty mcfly says:

No he doesn’t. I get what your trying to say but thats just not the case but lets say Lupe and JE spit the exact same shit? Ok well that means they would both be dope artists which is a win win anyway. Anyway I’ve yet to hear Lupe rap like Jay Electonica or JE rap like Lupe. They sound like two completely different people to me with two completely different subject matters. Lupe rapping about delivery pizza, and video games and basically everything under the sun. JE sticks to a certain context almost every time he raps.

      2. marty mcfly says:

I think you think it matters if his album flops? Which in Jay Elecs case it doesn’t. Illmatic flopped, Reasonable Doubt flopped but those albums are legend to people anyway.

  20. Castor Pol says:

Kendrick bit Jays whole style period!!! kid even had Dre soundin like Jay on The Recipe

  21. Gage says:

    FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. DRAG says:

whats the significance of the HOV sample ? it seems aimless. Jeezy’s adlibs on “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” were dope and and well integrated and didnt say “featuring Young Jeezy” — just seems odd — track dope tho

  23. Stanfield says:

    5 years too late.

  24. BrooklynInDa90s says:

Peace to god Jay Elect. He need to drop that LP, this Detox wait ain’t cool

  25. Rob Lo says:

Nobody cares anymore….either drop them album or move on…5 years too late

  26. Gigi says:

Why have Hov on here saying “I got these n*** breezy… don’t worry about it”? It brings no value to the song at all. Jay needs to realize how amazing he is an artist…he could put anything out at anytime and shit on everyone in the process…i believe in Jay Electronica …I just don’t know if he believes in himself?

    1. realtalk82 says:

I hear you man. I love this record but Jigga is not needed here

  27. Globalgrindintern says:

Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. Using Jay Z’s tired ass in it was a waste. Yo…If Jay Electronica doesn’t want to create music, be an artist & have fans then he needs to stay his lazy ass out in London somewhere…so he can hop a flight do shows in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Sydney, Mexico, Dubai, Johannesburg … You get the point…
Iggy Azalea and Jay Electronica need to both sit their low self esteem asses down. All they do is bitch & complain. Iggy just “quits” IG & Twitter like every day. Iggy’s mad cuz she knows she’s wack, she didn’t write shit & and that she’s a fake.
I reserve my comment for Jay Electronica for now. Iggy just made me sick to my stomach.

  28. The Incredible Creation says:

The Jay Z vocals on this are annoying… unneeded lol zZzZzz https://theincrediblecreation.wordpress.com/

  29. blackbeltbreeze says:

this year: kendrick, drake, jay elec, kanye. we already knew they were coming hungry. didn’t expect the lupe or the big sean to be in top tier form. welcome surprises. i’m thinking tink and chance will push the envelope. but there’s 2 more slots for top ten album music of 2015. now i’m wondering if wale will bring it. but who else? hmmmm

  30. tipp0183 says:

ok this year set the stage for a good album. go ahead and drop it now, people are listening.
