remember Wale’s“The Gifted,” sold158,000 copies in its first week, knocking Kanye West’s “Yeezus” from the top spot.

        1. Rothstein says:

Thanks for reminding me, Guzman. So you’ll implicitly acknowledging Wale’s power. He’s being numbers then, albeit less copies this time out.

          Still numero UNO.

          1. el jim chapo guzman says:

    3. Rothstein says:

How many copies did g unit sell? Their last 3 eps. What about 50’s last album?

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

G unit ain’t sell much…. but that doesn’t have shit to do with wale going from 158k first week to 90k.

        1. What about 50 going from 13 million copies to less than 50 k?

          1. el jim chapo guzman says:

Fif been there and did that though…he doesn’t need music anymore..fif rap for fun nowadays.

          2. Rothstein says:

That’s a cop-out, amigo! Every rapper wants to sell as many records as possible. Anybody saying otherwise is a liar.

Just recognize Wale’s numbers for today’s climate and that he’s actually number 1.

          3. el jim chapo guzman says:

            Them numbers lame Rothstein.

  8. Doug says:

  13. MrAfrika says:

Album had a good concept but it has maybe 2 good songs on it, he tried to create a storyline of an album about nothing that samples a show about nothing…woulda been great if he pulled it off. Again great concept but I immediately forgot what I listened too a couple of hours later. Nothing memorable.

  14. MusicLover says:

Yall need to stop comparing numbers!! smh.. appreciate the art and if you think the numbers suck , go fucking support and buy multiple copies or tell your friends!!

    1. dat dude says:

  19. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

G Unit’s latest EP sold way more than this garbage. G unit wins again, MMG loses.

    1. Mista says:

Stop lying I don’t like MMG but G Unit is finished for real. That ep didn’t even sale 20k.

        1. ay nigga ! how much did you say wale was going to sale first week?

      1. TheTruthHurts says:

  20. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

Great Cross-promotion for every purchase of chicken wings at wingstop you get a wale album.

  21. Louiev says:

This album was decent but I probably won’t listen to it again…

  22. Kevknows says:

I encourage you all to listen to the album while reading from genius.com so you can understand what he’s saying. If you think this album is garbage you obviously don’t enjoy lyrics and concepts.

    1. Kingly_Caracter says:

I understand where you’re coming from…but that’s the problem. That’s wayyyy to much effort for something that at least on first listen should deliver some sort of top level meaning and have impact. At times his delivery gets “Young Thug mumbled” (No disrespect to Wale). Trust, I’m one of the dudes who enjoys decoding lyrics…. and I think Wale is a good artist from day one. But his delivery lately comes across as intentionally convoluted at times. Just sometimes…Deep and powerful doesn’t have to mean complex.

Take Kendrick for instance. I could guarantee you a MAJOR reason why he is as successful is because his lyrics and delivery is simply more immediately digestible. His cadence and clarity of his words hit harder because of it. To me thats what wale misses allot of the time.

      Bless up.

      1. GhostofHueyNewton says:

Yea at times he sounds mumbled!

      2. Kevknows says:

Nothing that’s worth anything substantial comes easy. That’s evident in many areas. Definitely in music. Anything you hear off first bells only attracts you on certain levels. An artist of a certain caliber won’t put out a project until they’ve sat with it. Too much effort goes into true bodies of work for you to understand it off one listen. You have to give albums time if you want to understand all the intricacies and nuances. But then again..that’s only if you want to.

  23. Strong Enough says:

    90, 381

    DAMN BOY!

  24. yeaj says:

You funny guys say “boring” but will big ups and dick suck an ab soul or a Joey badass for days. This guy put in a body of work that pushes him out of the tier 2 category into the first. Idk what yall heard but I heard the best work a GOOD rapper has ever put forth. And the whole (hating wale because it’s funny) thing is so fucking played out and corny I wanna get everybodys IP adress and come smack you all individually. There was NOTHING wrong with this album. And on top of that it’s more likeable than kendricks. Idk what else you cornballs wanted. Fucks sake

    1. Savimbi says:

Ab soul was all hype. Imo not as good as the comment sections made him out to be. I don’t like his voice at all

  25. MJeezy says:

This was the first wale album i listen to and i gotta say this album is great! the music is good, the lyrical content is good and ofc not to mention wale’s rapping skills

  26. Rick Ross says:

I have to admit this Wales worst album under MMG. The Gifted was hella underrated though

  27. CASH says:

    Best Hiphop Albums currently
    LUPE > COLE > KENDRICK > WALE > DRAKE

    1. Savimbi says:

FINALLY somebody got it right, I can’t believe Lupe is not being mentioned in all these discussions, Tetsuo & Youth is a problem.

  28. Guest says:

I thought Kendrick had second week at 120k!?

  29. Shock says:

I’m sorry, I just can’t with Wale. I tried too.

  30. William says:

    Wale>Big Sean

  31. chrisduece1 says:

Is it better than J Cole’s tho?

  32. Big Therm says:

I haven’t listened to the Wale yet, but judging by the comments, the album isn’t an easy win. I just wanted to ask, what’s the deal with the mentality of a rapper when they’re making an album vs a mixtape? There are artists who can make album quality mixtapes that make the majority of listeners say “holy shit, this is crack”, but then lose it when the go to make an album. Wale did this on his About Nothing mixtapes which made me believe this album had no choice BUT to be fire.

    I’ll see what’s good once I listen.

  33. yorapper says:

That’s actually pretty good for both of them. I was expecting Wale to do like 50k and Luda to do like 2k.

  34. Black Cloud says:

STOP HATING ON THE ALBUM anyone who doesn’t like this album does not TRULY listen to lyrics. i don’t care if you do listen to j. cole and kendrick if you listen to his album and say its ass you just go with what everyone else says. He snaps on damn near every song! lyrically wale is just a talented as all the top artist in the game. I wish yall would stop hating on the man just cuz he aint popular

  35. blackcl says:

why was my comment removed? is it cuz i bragged about wale album? haha it must be fact, the people in charge of hip hop are holding back wale
