Kendrick Lamar Receives Generational Icon Award

Now We All Can Celebrate.
Kendrick Lamar was recognized for his philanthropy yesterday by the California State Senate. For his service to the Compton Unified School District, K-Dot was honored the ’35th Generational Icon Award’ by State Senator Dr. Isadore Hall, III of the 35th District and California State Governor Jerry Brown.
“It’s definitely an honor to be right here in front of you guys,” said Kendrick. “Being from the city of Compton and knowing the parks that I played at and neighborhoods, I always thought how great the opportunity would be to give back to my community.”
K. Dot is planting some serious seeds. There’s going to be a whole generation of MC’s that are direct descendants of his. He’s a modern day civil rights leader. Exactly what a true hip hop artist is supposed to be.

I talked about the two albums to say he is celebrated in a way that you’d believe he has put in way more work then TWO ALBUMS. This isn’t a bad thing I said I commend him for it and a but I felt that needed to be pointed out.

He put out an instant classic in GKMC, and one of not only the most critically acclaimed hip hop albums of all time, but ALBUM of all time too in TPAB. So yeah, those two albums carry a lot of weight bro.

This is about his support for the community, and no other artists from that area have the appeal and reach as well as the positivity from that area. So who would be more deserving? What position does it put him in that he wasn’t already projected to go? A award for positivity in the community isn’t deserved because of only 2 albums? You make zero sense.

Why are people here hating on someone who is giving back to their community? K.Dot is the best new artist since Kanye West and he’s leading a civil rights movement with his music. If this was Drake getting recognition from Toronto or the Raptors, it’s a power move. The impact of his music ALONE, merits this award.
The problem is this generation doesn’t understand or know how to be proud of being Black. Our young people are being poisoned Mentally, Spiritually and Physically, and the sad part is that they dont even know it.
Regardless of how you feel about Kendrick Lamar’s music, this is something that effects Black People all across the country. What he is trying to accomplish we all should jump at the chance to support him.
There is a war going on, and its time for the Universal Family (Black People) to wake up from their slumber and get back to changing humanity for the better.
