Weezy FM.

Lil Wayne’s coming home next month for his inaugural Lil Weezyana Music Festival. But earlier, he called Wild Wayne on New Orleans’ Q93. The interview is pretty comprehensive touching on his formative years on Cash Money. Later on, he discussed Young Thug’s Barter 6, Free Weezy Album , texts from Jay-Z, and Lil Weezyana Fest.

I’m the biggest Lil Wayne fan on this Earth but ‘Barter 6’ is much better than ‘Free Weezy Album’ and anything Wayne has done recently. Young thug is the shit now!

    1. 400_Degreez says:

Much better??? I’m not so sure about that… I have to question Young Thug’s versatility too… Young Thug without London on the Track or some beat that sounds like London made it is probably gonna result in some wack shit… Thug has had much better production than Wayne and thats whats been carrying him… I’ll take Wayne’s “London Roads” over most of Thug’s songs

      1. Your Father says:

Funny enough I think Young Thug sounds better on Metro Boomin’ or 808 Mafia beats over London ones.

  24. Kris Kompute says:

“If I was to give real effort, it would be dangerous.”

So he admits he half asses and it shows. His bars the last 4 years have been dogshit.

    1. Iamstillmusic says:

He’s in the same boat with Jay Z, Eminem, Kanye West, And Eminem. They’ve reached the top and have nothing left to prove

      1. Kris Kompute says:

That’s horseshit. If there is nothing left to prove, then you sit down. You don’t make mediocre art and then use the “I’m not really trying” excuse to justify its shitty-ness.

        1. Iamstillmusic says:

Are you serious? Lil Wayne is undeniably the best mixtape rapper ever. He also has 5 classic bodies of work, Tha Carter 2, Tha Carter 3, No Ceilings, Da Drought 3 and Dedication 2. Kanye West has called Lil Wayne the best rapper in the world twice

          1. Kris Kompute says:

            A) Kanye also has called Mase his favorite rapper and vouched for Chief Keef numerous times.
            B) Carter 2 is not a classic. I love Carter 3, but it didn’t shift the industry. MBDTF, The BluePrint, MMLP, The College Dropout, 808’s, Reasonable Doubt…those are industry shifting classics.
            C) A mixtape where you are rapping over someone else’s instrumentals 80% of the time can’t be your best body of work.
            D) The only person who has ridiculous standards for Wayne are his blind Stans. Dude has put out trash the past 4 years. His lines are elementary and he’s admitted that he doesn’t try. He’s not touching Jay-Z, Kanye or Eminem.
            E) Bow Wow has been rapping since he was 3, has 3 platinum albums and 6 platinum singles…that age/sales shit means nothing.

To say Wayne had 5 classics shows how delusional you are. I can’t think of any hip-hop artist that has 5 classic albums. You’ve swallowed too much of his semen one too many times.

          2. Iamstillmusic says:

Your validity ended when you said Tha Carter 2 isn’t a classic. Wayne didn’t change the game? He had everyone in the industry trying to rap like him, kill beats like him.He saved hip hop when the industry was flooded with dance songs like crank that. I like how you said nothing about him being the best mixtape rapper EVER. That’s one half of rap. Jay Z dominates with albums. How dare you throw Bow wow in this conversation, Bow Wow was never the best rapper alive. Lil Wayne was the best rapper alive from 2004-2009 undeniably and he’ll kill your favorite rappers best song. He’s definitely a top ten rapper ever. Again if you don’t think Tha Carter 2 is a classic album you have no credibility whatsoever.

          3. Kris Kompute says:

Wayne is top 10. Carter 3 saved hip-hop when it was its worst state ever. From 2004-2009, he did kill it. But he does not have a classic album. You take the top 10 rappers ever and put their best album up against Wayne’s and he loses everytime. Carter 2 isn’t timeless, it was him maturing and surprising everyone with how deep he can get as a lyricist.

Who gives a fuck about being a great mixtape rapper!? That’s like being the best streetball player. If you ain’t doing in a NBA game, the shit don’t matter.

My original point was he hasn’t done shit with his own music in 4 years. 2009 was 6 years ago. His half-ass effort shows in his lyrics. This shit is garbage. Come join us in 2015.

          4. Iamstillmusic says:

Bro how can you honestly say Carter 2 wasn’t a classic? That’s one of the most timeless albums I’ve ever heard. It’s far better than the Carter 3 which is also classic. Also being the best mixtape rapper ever is pretty significant when you proved to the world that you can take any instrumental and make a better song than the original countless times. It’s rare we get that type of artistry in hip hop. No Ceilings was better than a lot of people’s best album. In my books Wayne has 5 classic projects, we can agree to disagree.

Also I agree he hadn’t done shit for the last 6 years but that’s because he didn’t really have to. Jay Z hasn’t put out a good album to his standards since 07 with American Gangster. These are guys who have been doing this over decades appealing to different generations. Mind you Wayne is only 32, he’s been in the game 19 years. People call Andre a legend and he’s never even dropped a solo album. The standards of hip hop fans are unfair

          5. Kris Kompute says:

Played Carter 3 last night. Fuckin unreal. I’ll give him that as a classic. A complete project from top to bottom.

Carter 2 was good but it’s not up there with the classic albums I named.

Jay-Z is 46 and has reasonable doubt, blueprint and the black album.

I quietly think 3 stacks is overrated. But that’s just me.

          6. Iamstillmusic says:

Well like is I said we’ll have to agree to disagree but Wayne definitely has nothing left to prove and Carter 2 was light years ahead of Carter 3, so raw. And you can’t disregard what he did to the mixtape game, it’s unheard of.

        2. Iamstillmusic says:

Also yes he has nothing to prove, he’s been in the game since age 9 and he’s still relevant, only second to Hov. The standards everyone holds for Lil Wayne are ridiculous, no one even expects a classic from Jay or Em, but when it’s Wayne he’s automatically put down. He’s competing with his old self at this point

      2. Kris Kompute says:

And it’s blasphemous to put him in that category with those 3. He doesn’t have one classic album while each of them have at least 2.

He’s more in the Ludacris, TI, Jeezy tier.

        1. Chooch says:

          carter 3 is a classic.
