Not quite what I imagined when I heard the song but this works… Kendrick is not getting enough respect for the first “Drake not writing his own rhymes” diss tho

    1. Gio inglewood,ca says:

that wasnt towards drake … stop looking for a beef.

      1. El Fenomeno says:

no one know who that line was towards, i hope it was drake tho

      2. 400_Degreez says:

Ok so who was it for??? I don’t like spreading gossip but given the timing of all of this… It seems pretty clear my nigga

        1. JE says:

          when did k.dot diss drake?

        2. Chronic says:

I think it was just a broad statement at most of the guys in the industry nowadays.

    2. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

      here we go. smh.

      1. 400_Degreez says:

      2. Idk... says:

B dot you know it’s true. You always seemed like you were the type of nigga who wasn’t part of all this industry bias shit. Pretty disappointing that you keep defending drake because you don’t wanna get in trouble.

        1. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

          get in trouble? from who?

      3. T r i l l Snitch Randal says:

  2. DeadCroaker says:

  3. J.O. Cool says:

Incredible patterns in the end…Video captured the “black vaudeville” kinda essence of the song…Dope…

  4. Iamstillmusic says:

To Pimp a butterfly is one of those albums where you listen to it at first and it doesn’t give you instant gratification as much as you though it would but because you know the artist is trying to portray a message you give the album more and more spins which in time gradually helps you understand the message the artists was trying to portray.

Then months later you have no choice to but call it one of your favorite albums of the year because you can see and understand the message behind the album well enough to enjoy the album and applaud Kendrick in how smart he was for creating a masterpiece

      1. Iamstillmusic says:

        Truth hurts bro

        1. sire says:

Im a kdot fan, didnt hurt me at all, just didnt need a damn book written out smfh

          1. Iamstillmusic says:

If great albums didn’t, what albums would?

          2. marty mcfly says:

There’s albums and mixtapes out there that if people gave them a few listens they would hear a level of creativity at the same level or more then TPAB but people would say since those artists aint famous they must not have artistic value.

          3. Iamstillmusic says:

I agree bro, most people have the connatation that the most popular rapper is the best, not at all

          4. marty mcfly says:

Ok well you did make a similar argument about Lil Wayne yesterday about his level of “exposure” as if him being more famous then everybody makes his projects better then everybody else’s.

          5. Iamstillmusic says:

Well I’m not saying Lil Wayne was the best of his era because he was the most popular I was saying of all the elite mixtape rappers he was the most famous so when he’s in the spotlight and he dropped great mix tapes back to back it’s hard to compare No Celiings to anything

As far as Kendrick goes no one rocks with him because of popularity, that would be Drizzy

          6. marty mcfly says:

Exactly so you gave popularity such status as far as actual content is concerned that you believe there is no mixtape greater then No Ceilings, correct?

          7. Iamstillmusic says:

No I gave it that status considering everything to be considered

          8. marty mcfly says:

No, you equate popularity to the degree of once it gets at a certain level, then that makes you “THEE BEST RAPPER”. You can deny it but in several of your comments you do that.

          9. Iamstillmusic says:

The best rapper will always be subjective but right now Kendrick has it

          10. marty mcfly says:

Its really subjective when you base alot of it on fame and popularity. I base my opinion about rappers on actually raps.

          11. Iamstillmusic says:

There is never going to be a solidified bet rapper alive, there will always be speculation and debate

But right now Kendrick holds the throne

          12. Iamstillmusic says:

            *best

          13. marty mcfly says:

You gave Kendrick the throne for what he was able to do this year. If thats the case then there are artists coming with new material pretty soon like The Game and Cyhi etc… So if they “rap” better then I could say that makes either one of them “thee best rappers” too. Kendrick is dope but the “best” shit is the case in your mind. You say shit as if its just a fact period for everybody? Then come back and say its no best…

          14. steeelo says:

Just wondering, have you listened to Kendrick’s freestyle over monster? lmk what you think after haha.

          15. marty mcfly says:

I just listened to it and I didn’t like it at all. I would say its wack imo. I didn’t like any of them bars like at all period. Thats just me being honest.

          16. marty mcfly says:

If there is never gonna be a best rapper? Then why do you keep saying it? Now if I make the claim that somebody is the best rapper? (which I can), then I’m gonna present evidence of that on a bar for bar bases that qualifies them as THEE BEST period. You think No Ceilings is the best mixtape cause you factor in Waynes fame and you think Kendrick is the best rapper because you only mean between March and now in 2015… You throw in your own borders to rationalize and really make your subjective claims about who “the best” is and then later come back and say there will never be a best? I would say Kendrick has the album that has got the most attention this year and he has great material on that album. Now if I make a claim about the best rapper is? I make it based on rhymes period. There are artists that I can make “best rappers alive” arguments and then pull up the bars and it would be hard to argue otherwise based upon pure lyricism.

          17. Iamstillmusic says:

You’re talking too much, Lil Wayne’s No ceilings is the best mixtape simply because it’s the best mixtape. Illmatic is the best cuz it’s illmatic. There are people who don’t think illmatic is all that the same way some will feel NC is all that which is why I said it’s subjective. The best rapper can never truly be proven its opinion at the end if the day

If Cyhi the prince is the best rapper in your books because of Black Histori month then count that in your books. In my books Kendrick has the throne right now

          18. marty mcfly says:

No Ceilings is not the best mixtape and please never mention No Ceilings in the same sentences with Illmatic ever again. Your saying No Ceilings is the best just because you say it is? No. Now after other mixtapes that are better are shown to you, you’ll either create parameters and rational for way No Ceilings is better or you just won’t bother listening to those projects. If its about rhymes and beats? No Ceilings is NOT the best mixtape. I didn’t say Cyhi is the best rapper in my book but if I did, I’d use bars (actual rapping ability) as evidence of why nobody else is able to delivery better ones.

          19. Iamstillmusic says:

And even if we bring those mixtapes that you speak of, there will still be parameters as to how others are better as well. It’s subjective because all music is subjective but NC is one of the best mixtapes ever, it’s undeniable. If there is another mixtape that suits as the best then put that mixtape in your book

          20. marty mcfly says:

I didn’t set parameters to those projects. I said they were better period and I meant in all aspects (or to the degree of overwhelming the number of counter claims otherwise). The subjective argument is only made so little to no investigation ever gets done on these projects after claims are made about them.

          21. Iamstillmusic says:

And it’s a fact that DD3 and No Celilings are among the best mixtapes ever. Of all time. If they are not your favorite then that’s cool

          22. marty mcfly says:

You said they were the best mixtapes period. Not one of, you said and or implied they were thee best mixtapes which they are not. You asked what mixtpaes are better? There are a number of better mixtapes, especially with No Ceilings. Wayne’s own Dedication mixtapes are better then those two but there are other artists who mixtapes are better so no those mixtapes are not thee best mixtapes.

          23. Iamstillmusic says:

I’m stating this. No Ceilings and DD3 are among the best mixtapes of all time.Ever. In this history of hip hop. There is nothing you can say to change that. No point of arguing

          24. marty mcfly says:

Again, NOW your saying there “one of”… My comments about them were because you said they were THE BEST period. NOT because you said they were “one of”. If you had said they were “one of” then you know none of these comments would even be here. When asked specifically if you were saying No Ceilings was THEE BEST MIXTAPE period? You didn’t answer because the day before that you know thats what you were implying. That it was (that and D3) which they are NOT.

          25. Iamstillmusic says:

And then I stated that it will always be subjective so I removed the best period and replaced it with one of.

          26. marty mcfly says:

They maybe “one of” but their no where even close to being the best period.

          27. marty mcfly says:

I brought up 50 Cent and G Unit and their mixtape run and you said nobody cared? GRODT sold more then ten million copies and that momentum was built on mixtapes but thats not really the main point so we can let that go but just sayin… As for Kendrick? Yeah nobody rocks with me if you base it on popularity. Now when music is brought up vs anything from Kendrick, his popularity is used as a counter to suggest that he must be the best rapper because others don’t have an equal level of popularity at the moment. Thats putting too much on popularity.

          28. Iamstillmusic says:

It’s all the been about the art, Kendrick just happens to be one of the best

          29. marty mcfly says:

I’ve seen his popularity brought up too many times in regards to discussions about the actual music. So I doubt its ALL about the art. On the flipside when others are brought up, Kendrick being more famous then them is used to imply he must be the better rapper. People can act like this isn’t the case but they seen it done many times just like I have.

          30. private says:

Yo, you are schooling this guy, you know your shit

          31. private says:

True talk, Mick Jenkins waters mixtape for example is still being slept on. I feel that tape was sonically and lyrically better than Kendrick’s album. Kendrick’s album beats it content wise tho

          32. Guest says:

NOPE! IT AIN’T BEING SLEPT ON! THAT’S THAT HIPSTER MENTALITY RIGHT THERE! A NEW ARTIST EMERGES FROM THE UNDERGROUND YOU DISCOVER THEM AND CAN’T WAIT TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THEM! THEY START TO GAIN A BUZZ AND THEN FINALLY BLOW AND THEN YOU EITHER DON’T LIKE THEM AS MUCH BECAUSE OF THIER NEW FOUND POPULARITY OR YOU BECOME THAT FAN WHO ALWAYS SAYS “I’VE BEEN A FAN SINCE THE BEGINNING, BEFORE ANYBODY KNEW WHO THEY WERE ETC ETC….” AND SO ON! KEEP IT MOVING, HIS TAPE IS FORGETTABLE AT BEST!!!

          33. marty mcfly says:

Most times people put others onto dope underground shit because those artists don’t blow (or havn’t blown or don’t have buzz) which is what made the person who initially discovered them tell someone else they should check them out in the first place.

          34. private says:

First off you sound dumb as hell for jumping into conclusions, I am not a fan of Mick Jenkins, I haven’t even heard the mixtape he put out before the waters all I said was I really liked the bars and production of the tape. My friend showed me that Tape since last year and I didn’t give it a listen until like some months ago and I was really impressed. Dude has bars

    1. steeelo says:

when you got songs like alright, institutionalized, king kunta, etc, on first listen was instant gratification.

      1. Iamstillmusic says:

I know, it’s just most rap consumers didn’t give them album time, they just want to hear bangers and didn’t get it

      2. private says:

People sleep on Momma tho, I still haven’t heard a better song than momma this year. From that to Hood politics just killed me, those two songs are certainly my best moments in the album. It was a great album but I still stand by the fact that it could have been sonically better tho. For example I can’t stand these walls, and even tho I love the message in How much a dollar cost the song was also pretty boring and let’s be honest alright sounds a little bit to repititve after some time. But Momma tho, the flow in the first verse was genius, second second verse amazing and the part were the beat switches up and he starts rapping “I’ve been looking for you my whole life” fucking gave me the holy ghost.

        1. steeelo says:

sonically? you have to be crazy to say that the production on this album “could” have been better. every song’s instrumental is so genuine and crazy, literally its jazz and funk music at it’s finest with great lyricism. Especially after listening to Flying Lotus’ radio 1 episode on To Pimp A Butterfly, it’s seriously blows your mind on how crazy the production was on this album

          1. private says:

It was not that good bruv, the only point you could have said and I may have agreed with you is that he was going for a timeless sound…. Just because it sounded very different from what is playing today doesn’t make it exceptional. Wait for Kanye’s album to drop this year and you will see the difference in production, or even Views from the 6. TPAB still had some good production tho like institionalized was sonically amazing, hood politics, momma and complexion were also good too.. But most of the beats in the album didn’t cut it for me.

    2. Zach says:

He even said that he wanted his fans to live wit it. He didnt wana make a bunch of gimmick songs for the radio. He knows he can make dope shit without hoppin on the bandwagon

    3. Brian B.Dot™ Miller says:

      +1
