New Music: Ma$e “WhenNYWasNY”

Coast To Coast

According to Ma$e, New York has lost it’s touch. Attempting to restore that East Coast sound, Betha ironically tries his hand over Dre and ‘Pac’s “California Love”. We see what he did there.

Ma$e my brother, at this point in the game you need to really analyse your life. If after that you still insist on rapping, give Quentin Miller a call.

  2. tha OG says:

    This shit was HOT!!!

    1. Kris Kompute says:

      Hot Ass!

  3. Hov ain’t rapping like this No Mo!

    1. marty mcfly says:

Yeah he’s rapping better. His last three verses were from We Made It, Seen It All and the Jungle rmx…. His last album had an NY sound on it. Picasso, Heaven, FUTW, Open Letter etc… Mase aiight but he ain’t never fuckin wit Jay.

        1. marty mcfly says:

Yeah cause Mase is back written coke movin, gun bars between bible study in ATL. Smh

      1. You sound delusional dawg. MCHG was weak. Niggas stay sipping that HOV juice. That nigga has become the same thing he said Nas was on the Takeover. 1 album in 10 years type of nigga. But since it’s Hov niggas turn cheek!

        1. marty mcfly says:

MCHG was weak and what Mase’s album was dope? You think that album was weak thats your opinion, id say bar for bar, beat for beat Jay slaughter 99% of the competition with that album. MCHG had its moments of bullshit but…

          Holy Grail
          Picasso
          Fuckwitmeyouknowigotit
          Oceans
          FUTW
          Somewhereinamerica
          Crown
          Heaven
          Part 2
          Jay Z Blue
          Open Letter
          Nickels And Dimes

rhyme for rhyme and beat for beat and concept for concept is BETTER then most of the albums at that time. If J Cole or fucking Mase made this same album fools would be praising the shit.

          1. To each is own my guy. But to the God that nigga Hov only has 1 quality album since The Black Album and that’s American Gangster. 1 album in 13 years dawg. Rack em up!

          2. marty mcfly says:

Yeah to each his own because when you say “quality”, evidence suggests BP3, WTT and MCHG are “quality” albums. Even with those albums, pound for pound they would destroy most of the artists out album wise. So rack em up? Just know that 95% of ALL RAPPERS period will NEVER IN THEIR ENTIRE LIFE make better albums musically, LYRICALLY and conceptually then the last 13 years of Jays career. Which produced songs like…

            The Prelude
            Minority Report
            Beach Chair
            Thank You
            DOA
            Empire State
            Young Forever
            No Church
            Otis
            Who Gon Stop Me
            Murder To Excellence
            etc…

The majority of rappers period across the board will NEVER produce better albums then JayZ. I think people look at a Jayz album and just off the back say its weak just because its Jayz but can they or their favorite artist produce anything better overall? Lyrically, conceptually, MUSICALLY? The answer is NO.

          3. marty mcfly says:

You had to use one of the greatest MCs of all time to compete with Jay Z (message) and honestly I don’t think Nas has to compete on the same level Jay does commercially, that has a direct effect on the music. the fact Jay has to balance both and Nas doesn’t, requires Jay to come with a higher level of skills then Nas. When Jay drops something, not only does if have to be lyrical, but Jay gotta have hits and it has to be classic material. Nas just gotta make sure his rhymes are dope (with hardly any quotables while Jay has to have dope rhymes line for line) and thats about it because he if don’t have no hit records people a say cool, its Nas.

          4. marty mcfly says:

Nas best material in the last 13 years is shit thats child’s play musically for Jayz and I say that with all due respect. The only argument one can make is the “whole album is dope” argument cause if it was about individual songs? Jay has slaughtered Nas with every album since the late 90s including the last 13 years. The “album” argument only gets made to avoid any debate about the actual music on those “albums”. List Nas best songs in the last 13 years and lets see if they better then Jays individual songs…

          5. marty mcfly says:

Most these niggas have NO albums of “quality” (comparable to Jay Z) and they’ll be lucky to last 5 years or even make 1 album that competes with Jay Z. These niggas can’t get passed the first 5 years of Jays career and you wanna talk about the last 13? Smh

  4. Faceless Hustlers says:

Mase killed it but New York is done. Still living in the 90s The West got this Hip Hop shit the South got the radio

    1. disqus_5cf9fQAd3l says:

I hear u…. but the irony is that Dre got the music from an East Coast song by EPMD. He made it better, but they did it first

      1. Peekay says:

EPMD & Dre both sampled Joe Cocker’s song Woman to Woman.

        1. disqus_5cf9fQAd3l says:

          Correct

      2. yorapper says:

Isn’t that a Joe Cocker sample? He like some white guy from UK lol.

  18. jlUK says:

The worst part of New York rappers is when they get on their ‘lets bring NY back’ stuff. Just do you and create a new sound.

    1. aikens todd says:

Create a new sound? New York created the sound thats defined as rap music. No matter what you’re listening to the number one influence of it all is NEW YORK CITY.

  19. ilexx says:

The way I heard ppl bashing this, I swore it was going to be some hardcore trash but this is the best I’ve heard from Ma$e in a minute.

I don’t care what anybody says, he went in!

It’s all the other stuff that overshadow the music. Is he a pastor? Is he a street nigga? Are you having an identity crisis? Its hard to take him serious I guess but he was spitting some decent bars here.

  20. Rob Lo says:
