thats really good!!! i hope word of mouth spreads giving him a shot at #1 next week.;.. go buy the album and support him

    1. Faceless Hustlers says:

The fact that the movie did good will boost the album sales

  2. Guzman's Wallet says:

    SONIC “TRANNY PANTS” TROLLING IN 3 2 . . . #SONICTHETRANSGENDERED #SONICJENNER #YOUNGTHONG15KFIRSTWEEK

  3. movie was amazing, i gotta check out that album. haven’t had time :/

  4. LOst pRoDigy says:

Albums okay couple bangers very cohesive.. But for some reason the replay value just isn’t there can’t quite put my finger on what’s missing.

    1. Selorm Amuzu says:

Cos it wasn’t Detox or what you thought Dre would sound like in 2015

      1. Mylo says:

No Mail Man or Rick Elonzo

      2. LOst pRoDigy says:

Really didn’t have any preconceived ideas of how a Dre album would sound in 2015 because I was under the impression that he was done as an artist.

    2. TheTruthHurts says:

I’ve listened to it well over 10 times so different strokes I guess.

      1. LOst pRoDigy says:

I’ll live with it longer cause the production is crazy I don’t know maybe that DS2 stuck in my system got me in my “turnup” bag.

        1. TheTruthHurts says:

That’s fair, I haven’t heard DS2 yet, I was still slowly listening to Rockys ALLA and other stuff. But Compton’s production and the flows are crazy even if you don’t like the content.

    3. The Almighty says:

I disagree, it sounds amazing to me and I’ve been playing non stop ever since it dropped

    4. Mokh says:

it doesn’t have your typical summer jams. no xxplosive, let’s get high, still dre or let me ride. it’s more of an experience to be lived with, explored and analyzed. he left the brilliant and simple melodies for complex mind-fuckin sounds. he is not 30 or 20 yrs old anymore, his perception of life isn’t as energetic and vigurous as it was when he was younger. he’s a 50yrs old billionnaire with a son, a brother and a bunch of friends under the grave.

As a fan of The D.R.E and an amateur of complexity, i think this album is brilliant and it contains the top 5 most intimate dr dre songs.

i hope he somehow regains his taste for fun and playful life expriences and melodies so that he still bless us with some of his beats before he leaves us.

      1. LOst pRoDigy says:

I can respect that wasn’t really thinking that deeply about it but I appreciate your view point.

  5. Sonic says:

Damn, 24 years of Dre having a solo career and he STILL can’t get a no. 1 album? LMFAO! Album sucked. Nothing like 2001. Keep sucking Dre’s dick, stans.

    1. ENERGETIC says:

young thug only sold 15k haha

    2. Faceless Hustlers says:

Dre is winning cum drinker all your favorite rappers arent so stop trolling and youll live longer faggot

  6. G code says:

This album was trash only you fuckboys who follow bandwagons are saying it’s good. I don’t care what it sold the shit was garbage, you hype beast will say anything to follow the crowd.

  7. Da Business says:

    Clap 4 ’em
    ????????

Dope lp, this n!99@$ is 50 years old and is still putting out bangers.

    #salute

    1. Kris Kompute says:

Album sucks. Not even top 5 west coast LP’s from the past 3 years.

      1. GKMC
      2. TPAB
      3. My Krazy Life
      4. Crenshaw
      5. Oxymoron

I liked 3 songs. Literally. And I’m a Dre fan.

      1. yeah says:

trying to discredit dre isn’t the smartest game to play

        1. Kris Kompute says:

I didn’t discredit Dre one time in that post. His hands were involved in many of the albums on that Top 5 list I posted. I even ended it with “I’m a Dre fan”.

I speak the truth no matter who the artist is. Kanye is my fav artist ever. The songs he’s dropped for “Swish” have been mediocre. Just like “Compton” is an average album.

Quit suckin dick because of the artist’s name and learn to fuckin read.

      2. marty mcfly says:

Compton shits an elephant size turd on those last three albums. Best west coast albums in the last three years imo is…

        Game – Jesus Piece
Blu – Good To Be Home
        Ras Kass – Blasphemy

        1. Dan Karlin says:

I enjoyed Compton quite a bit, but yeah, Jesus Piece w as HIGHLY fucking slept on. Game deserved way more credit that he got for that album.

      3. ilexx says:

I really think you are being kinda harsh with your critique of the album.

I would say this is at least on parr with My Krazy Life. Or right after it on that list but com’n no way is Crenshaw and Oxymoron better than Compton. That’s a stretch.

I think you might want to revisit it a couple more times on a good sound system.

      4. The Almighty says:

those last three albums don’t come close to “Compton” at all bruh

        1. Kris Kompute says:

Compton can’t hold a candle to My Krazy Life.

People shit on YG because he’s young, wild and all them Mustard radio songs. His album was a great body of work with good storytelling.

I’m convinced you niggas really don’t listen to the music. You take the name of the artist and based on their stature give them free passes instead of judging objectively.

This Compton album is nothing special at all.

          1. The Almighty says:

            You’re absolutely insane bro

          2. El Moreno says:

heres my opinion on your opinions, u r in some way right and in many ways wrong.
that top 5 list u posted is some what ok and i fuck with every album u listed, but Compton was not made to b a breakthrough album like those u mention; but more of why Dre’s work is groundbreaking.
non of those top 5 u mention wouldn’t b here if it wasn’t for Dre’s music and it many ways Compton show’d u why.
the only thing i hate is the fact that Bishop Lamont wasn’t involve and at the bare minimum NH should have been given a shot at speaking his L.A shit.
other then that everybody is entitled to feel how they want about music…..peace

  8. Da Business says:

Oh… And to the haters, men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.

    I’m just saying…

  9. tha OG says:

    Great album!!!

  10. The Almighty says:

That’s what you call success… The album is fire, only a fool who can’t appreciate real music would say otherwise. Why expect a 2015 album to sound like an album that came out in 1999? Some rap fans are dumb as shit, I swear. Probably the same idiots that say TPAB is garbage. Congrats to Dre for being a true legend and dropping another classic.

    1. Kris Kompute says:

I love TPAB. Compton is a conglomerate of Dre’s overthinking and perfectionism. The fact he used the “For the Love of Money” sample (AGAIN!) shows he was thinking too much. Thinking he could re-invent and flip shit. He went past the point of innovation.

Nothing on there sounds new and nothing on there sounds classic. It’s just mediocre with some talented MC’s.

      1. The Almighty says:

I can’t agree with you on that at all, overthinking? Kinda sounds like that’s what you’re doing, overthinking and over analyzing the album instead of just enjoying the music. Tell me where did Dre sample “For The Love Of Money” before this? Again I disagree, this album isn’t mediocre it’s fuckin’ brilliant in my opinion.

        1. Kris Kompute says:

For the Love of money has been sampled 81 times. Where’s the innovation in that?

Spun through the album again today. I’m sorry. Shits mediocre.

You replace Dre’s name with Sounwave and Yall ain’t even arguing about it.

          1. The Almighty says:

Naw, judging from you comments you’re just a nigga that doesn’t wanna give Dre props. I’m not trying to convince you that a good album is good. Keep playing that DS2.

          2. Kris Kompute says:

Can you read you dumbfuck!? Clearly have Dre props on the movie and his entire career in the first post!

Yo Mama fucked you up boy! For you to be this stupid, your daddy gotta be your cousin!

          3. The Almighty says:

Ha damn homie, no need to get all butt hurt. Talking about my family and shit haha, I really must have struck a nerve. Pull your skirt up bitch, your pussy is showin’.

  11. ilexx says:

He may have a shot at #1 next week though.

Honestly I think you lying if you say this album isn’t good.

It ain’t The Chronic, it ain’t 2001 but I think this is a damn good album.

To me it has replay value, I’m still picking apart things King Mez, Kendrick and Jon Connor said. And everything Anderson .Paak was on is fire.

I’m walking around like “only type of living I know!” Or just randomly saying “All in a day’s work!”

Very much like the Kendrick album, it may not be what you expected but that just means you gotta sit with it.

And the production is fucking phenomenal.

    1. Kris Kompute says:

Just because you are picking apart what a lyricist is saying days later doesn’t make it good. Jon Connor and Cyhi’s work is full of that.

The album is weak. No song will stick or live with us.

      1. ilexx says:

Obviously we know its to each his own but “All In a Day’s Work”, “Deep Water” and “Medicine Man” definitely gonna stick with me.

I’m fucking with “One Shot One Kill” and “Satisfiction” too, “Animals” is a great song aswell.

I can’t say this music is weak, when Future just released an album that is over here curling 3 lbs dumbbells.

        1. Kris Kompute says:

You know my stance with hip-hop. Lyricism trumps all. I listen to backpackers all day.

With that said, I’m currently playing “DS2” over “Compton”

          1. marty mcfly says:

Dirty Sprite 2? Future? Really? He’s backpacker lyricism to you? He more like a stereotypical rap coon spewing an endless stream of dumbed down garbage as far as lyrics go.

          2. El Moreno says:

ok so how do u say u listen to backpacking music all dat and then say u playing DS2 over compton? I’m expecting u to say u listening to chance the rapper or J cole b.

          3. Kris Kompute says:

Bitch who are you!? And why you in my headphones and commenting on every post !?

That’s niggas problems…think you can only listen to one genre of hip hop. Anyone that knows anything about me knows I prefer solo lyricism over everything in hip-hop. After that I prefer the golden age. When I’m in the gym, I need shit that slaps like “DS2”.

I don’t listen to one type of genre of hip-hop or music period. I love pop music, old soul, gospel and folk. Ignorant mfs like you can wrap your head around that bc you have this subservient loyalty to a few artists like these mfs know you are putting money in your pocket.

Keep keeping track of my moves bitch. It’s cute.

      2. GetReal says:

nigga speak for yourself i been bumpin that album all week, i even took a break from TPAB for it

        1. Kris Kompute says:

The fact you have to take a break from TPAB at this point shows how much of a west coast Stan you are.

    2. disqus_5cf9fQAd3l says:

      I feel u, bruh.

I keep walkin around sayin “WORD TO MY NIGGA EAZAAAAAAY!!!!”

      1. F*ck Drake says:

EAZY E CPT OG FROM THA OTHER SIDE

        That song is hard

        1. GetReal says:

SON THATS MY FAVORITE SONG, THAT TRANSITION IS TOO ILL

    3. pimpsquadpop says:

I’m glad Jon Connor got a chance to shine… He been grindin’ in the cut for a minute…

  12. disqus_5cf9fQAd3l says:

I like the album. And I’m glad he didn’t call it DETOX….. everybody would’ve shitted on it

  13. Belize says:

Fuck this monopoly shyt. Apple is the lamest brand kn amerika

  14. Abe6772 says:

Can this finally make him release the detox album?

  15. Michael Ib bett says:

It would have been number 1 if they released the hardcopy at the same time, I bet. But it will probably sell more records in the long run this way.

  16. hilroycahier says:

This album is so good that it’s kind of hard to understand IMMEDIATELY *how* it’s good. It certainly isn’t “obvious” for today’s standards. And that’s what you need to realize is that Dre built an album within a music climate of fairly basic and formulaic standards. If it doesn’t have heavy bass and trippy sounds, we have a hard time adjusting to it, I’m starting to think. Notice how everyone wants “bangers” now? I love me a good banger just like the next fella, but good music doesn’t only exist in the form of a “banger”. A hard hitting, adrenaline-pumping, party potential music.

So you’ll ask, so what’s the point of listening? Well, if you are conditioned to only like trap and that style of music, then that would be like trying to switch genres damn near in this case of this Dre album. It’s not trying to be like the other music available, which is what’s shocking for most people. People would think a Dre album adapted to these times would produce even harder shit than what we already have because a lot peoples ideas of progression usually means MORE of the SAME thing. Which, as any good chef would tell you, there’s a limit to every spice before it actually starts to ruin the meal you’re preparing. To me, this Dre album sounds like he wanted to REDEFINE westcoast music. I mean, if you think about it, the westcoast sound for Chronic 2001 was that g-funk, low-riding, blunt smoking…but the scene has since changed since then. Back then, if you weren’t an ‘essay’ or a ‘home-boy’ from the hood then you might seem out of place listening to whatever Dr. Dre and the like made. But now? You’ve got black guys dressing like girls singing punk rock, and white girls smokin blunts in college rapping about the trap. I mean, the world escpially in California has changed alot.

If you want to appreciate this album more, play the most recent GTA on your ps4 or whatver with this album in the back as you cruise through different areas. It feels oddly fitting for the diverse set of characters you might find spread throughout the west coast. I feel that on this album, compton, you’ve got sounds that recognize more than just the “og’s” or other previously cliched street person, you’ve got a sound that represents the mish-mash of torn-jean wearing girls, punk rocking black dudes, nerdy white boys who love the word “nigga”…

This album’s sound blankets more people, in terms of listening groups, on a far wider range than the Chronic 2001. Remember, the Chronic 2001 felt like looking into a world different from you own, sonically. This album feels like it could settle it’s sonic qualities in many areas for many people. But like I said, I believe he’s trying to redefine westcoast sounds with this work.

    1. marty mcfly says:

But still though Chronic 2001 was still a better album. Compton is cool but the only reason people wanted “bangers” is because of the name Dr Dre. Compton has some hard songs but I think overall, Chronic 2001 just has better songs period.

      1. hilroycahier says:

Personally I also liked Chronic 2001 more. No comparison on which one I like more. 2001 resonates with a different time of my life though, too. So it’s hard to compare for those reasons also.

Dr. Dre is known for making amazing music but I don’t know if I’d put his better tracks under the term “banger”. They certainly bang, but when I mean banger, I mean that newer-age, heavier bass sounding tracks (think of something that would have future, ross, wayne, or drake on). Dre has traditionally not made beats that are of a “turnt up” variety. Which is the area that I think some people were expecting him to venture into.

Otherwise, besides the the g-funk style he’s already made, I don’t know what sound we could have expected to be honest. It’s been a while since he’s done stuff. This album, based on your feelings, could be evidence that as an artist you need to maintain a more active music portfolio if you want to transit with the times better.

        1. marty mcfly says:

If anybody was expecting Dr Dre to make turn up music? They either stupid or maybe they think Dre is a new artist from the south or something? When I said “banger” I mean Chronic 2001. Dre was not just on some G Funk shit on that album. Songs like…

          The Watcher
          Still Dre
          Big Ego’s
          What’s The Difference
          Forgot About Dre
          Some LA Niggas
          Bang Bang

Thats not lowrider music or smoke blunts cliche west coast shit, they just “bangers”. Dre did have the other classic west coast ish kinda songs on there as well like Light Speed, Xxplosive, and The Next Episode… but over the years Dre had developed another sound that goes beyond just the cliche west coast sound and was just hard period like Em’s Crack A Bottle, 50’s Ok Your Right, Stat Quo’s Get Low, etc…

Those aint G Funk, lowrider, smoke weed beats. They something else, its like Dr Dre batcave music or some shit. Thats what I and probably alot of other people expected from Dre. Compton is cool but when I said “bangers” I mean like Game’s Higher or Obie Trice’s Oh, or Busta Rhyme’s Truck Volume etc… Shit thats just “bangers” but with Dre’s signature sound.

      2. ZORINO says:

The Chronic. The original one was a much better album than 2001 and Compton, imho. They’re still good but The Chronic is on another level.

        1. marty mcfly says:

Im gonna have to stay with Chronic 2001

  17. GetReal says:

i like this album cuz i like it fuck all you hatin ass niggas tryna say people only like it to be on the bandwagon, no bitch, everybody doesnt have to dislike what you dislike

  18. JMcL says:

still feel like ppl are sleeping on this album, its worth the listen

  19. Gusto0810 says:

Compton is a glorious soundtrack! Man I Love it. Been bumpin’ it non-stop since it came out. It ain’t The Chronic and it ain’t 2001, and personally I’m good with that. Compton is one of THE best albums of the last 10 years in my opinion. If I want to escape with some turn up music I’ll listen to some turn up music, there’s plenty of it out there to choose from, but as a lifelong fan I don’t need that from Dre. Dre doesn’t follow the trends because all trends eventually dissipate. Dre creates new lanes, new trends, that others follow and try to emulate. His whole career is a testament to that. Just look at DJ Mustard music that everyone turns up with today, he’s straight outta the school of Dre. Even the methods of marketing they used to promote and release this album was on some next level shit.

Compton plays like a movie in itself and I feel like it’s a masterpiece from one of the greatest music producers of all time. I’m really glad we got another album from the legendary D.R.E.

    Just my opinion…..

  20. Niggpoleon says:

i think this pretty much shows that the whole fucked up view in rap about..”nobody wanna hear these old rappers anymore” shit is now invalid. people DO wanna hear some of these muthafuckas, and this album proves it. These old niggas still go harder than these young rap faggots that get posted up on here daily.

  21. Sina Mailer Daemon Djavadkhani says:

Best album of all time to me! Stands strong next to Pink Flyod’s Dark Side of The Moon or Nirvana’s Nevermind!
