Silento is quietly making moves. His summer hit, “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” recently reached platinum status. Meanwhile, the accompanying video was crowned “the fastest debut music video to become VEVO Certified” with over 100 million views.

Honestly as an artist you have to have your own morals and standard for what great means to u. But music like this isn’t necessarily bad cus HipHop has always had its dances. And what kind of HipHop will little kids grow up listening to. I wouldn’t play J Cole or Kendrick or Killer Mike for a 9 year old. So congrats to homie. This is the side of hip-hop I really hate. This song has literally no lyrics in the traditional rap sense, not a single line that sounds good or has context by itself. I know that’s not what its supposed to be but I guess that’s why I’m a fan of rap in particular more than hip hop as a whole. But if people wanna spend their money on this and have a good time I can’t hate that. As long as no one is trying to claim that it is a good song.

i know that dance is one of the original parts of hip hop, which is why i said that it is the side of hip hop i dont like.
