Melo is now being exposed by the fans on the internet as being Very Selfish. The guy is about the money and money only…not about winning. This guy cannot be the main guy on contender and that is the problem. Because the knicks have the organization built around one guy and his needs…this is the fault of the owner…not Phil Jackson’s fault. The entire NBA knows Melo is a Great scorer but is best suited as a second or even third option. So when you give a non-leader, selfish scorer, who can’t defend and Wont pass, and who makes his teammates worse instead of better the Alpha-dog status on a team…You get the Knicks. They won 9 games out 40 last year before Melo went out for the knee. This guy can Never be the Alpha-dog on a contender.Trade value very low as of now. Hopefully he plays well early and Knicks get back some decent assets is a trade.

This is the same Melo that made the Knicks a 50 Win team and 2nd in the east with our second best player being an aging Jason Kidd,

Melo last year played with a torn patella tendon since the beginning of the year and still avg 24,6,3 Melo is a top 3 all around scorer in the league, and the year before that he had that shoulder tear after being overplayed

Not trying to make excuses for Melo, but with the team he has had surrounding him he has no option but to take control of the offense, (look at how many shots Lebron put up in the Finals w/o Kyrie and Love, having Shump and JR DID NOT HELP)

The Knicks have put a solid supporting cast around him , and you’re right Melo needs to step up as leader and a better teammate, which I feel is more than possible, lets see what these Knicks do. But i don’t feel Melo is the problem, you get a healthy Melo and that team is playoff bound.

PS. The triangle is being implemented to keep the ball moving along, you are going to see a more pass happy team (Although after watching this preseason i’ve seen a lot of times that Melo has broken up the offense which is not a good sign but hopefully with time they will be a more cohesive unit. And the triangle is being loosely implemented, they still run a lot of PnR and some basic offensive principles, we should be good this year

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

It doesn’t work without superstars. You could pretty much make any offense look good with Jordan, Pippen, Shaq, Bryant, Gasol… The “triangle” has no chance in NY because the Knicks aren’t even close to being considered a talented team…I’ll take Carmelo in a 3 on 3 tournament. We will get out of his way and let him go 1 on 1, but to build an NBA championship team around? Never.

        1. emcee says:

The point of the system is to alleviate the need of superstar play (granted it always help) but i agree talent makes it work and takes you to the next level, hopefully Melo can take his talent to the next level and become that star we need him to be , if the rest of the team plays their role we should be a tough team just like Atlanta was last year,

but in all reality that is just a lot of speculation and hope, at this point as far as proven talent we are average,

But putting on my orange and blue goggles back on, I feel that this is going to be Melo’s best year and Porzingis is going to surprise everyone with his play(he has a quick release and can hit a shot from anywhere on the floor and isnt afraid to mix it up down low) we’ve added gritiness and tough play with Lopez, Oquinn and Seraphin, Afflalo is definatley an upgrade of JR and Shump, Galloway and Grant are two gritty combo guards who play defense and can control the offense and we got other role players who are 2 way players and compliment melo, So i hope that can translate into some wins (Hope a Knicks fan favorite word)

          1. el jim chapo guzman says:

Jacksons championship teams also played good defense, that will never happen with mello and these Knicks. The Knicks will be lucky to make the playoffs. The one thing that gives them a chance is they are in the East.

          2. emcee says:

True, my worry defensively is with Melo, he reacts way to slow to keep up with 3s (which might be a result of hiim playing the 4 so much) but the knicks front court is deep so Melo is gonna have to play 3 and he is going to be a defensive liabilty at that position, i feel the other guys can hold their own defensively, and having Lopez in the middle is going to make everyone happy, but just because we’re in the East we are in the hunt.

          3. el jim chapo guzman says:

It’s not going to work. Phil is about being in the spotlight & has no clue what he’s doing, (Which Is Obvious). Then there’s the ZERO IQ players (Enough said there) Spotlight Phil will jump ship after 2 losing seasons & blame everyone but himself (As He Always Does)
