Slime Season 2 is an obvious, tight application of Young Thug’s lawless style brought into the space of a linear mixtape, letting his flow drip and collect in horizontal spaces, as opposed to being sharply crafted like in his iconic hits, “Stoner,” “Danny Glover,”and “Lifestyle.”
Every element exists for a reason, fitting like puzzle pieces into place over multiple listens.Thugga’s entire approach to his music has never sounded so polished and potent as it sounds on this mixtape.
Producers Wheezy, Southisde and London on da Track handle most the beats on this freaky and fantastic release. Slim Season 2 feels like a 45-minute performance of what rap, as an art form, can do.
