Travi$ Scott Covers ‘Complex’

La Cover.

Like a villain out of a James Bond film, Travi$ Scott chills in his lair on the cover of Complex‘s December/January issue. Peep the excerpt below or peruse the feature here.

“My music isn’t rappity-rap-rap-rap. I base my music off of lifestyle and emotion—that’s why my music has a lot of chords, even if it’s a hard-ass joint. I consider myself an artist, which is, like, the most played term, but I believe it. Don’t get it twisted, I’m no bitch, n*gga got bars. But I’m not, like, super conscious. I don’t write, I just go in the booth. I’m attached to the beat. The beat speaks words. I love music.”

Mainstream hip hop is played out. I ONLY listen to the underground now. Dudes like Joyner Lucas, Pusha T, Jesse Is Heavyweight, Ritz, Nipsey Hussle, Dom Kennedy, Short Dawg, etc. Gotta get my good rap fix from whoever I can. Bout to grab KRS’ new shit. 43 years in and I still need hip hop, just not that BS.

Cosign! Nothing but 808s and auto-tune. Skinny jeans and hover boards. Catching feelings and airing out their dirty laundry on social media. Calling themselves “artists” because they have one song on the radio?
