The brand and the music is dead though.

    1. RightHook says:

nope. these guys tour overseas regularly. if your comparing it to whats trendy now, then that would be a mistake. music like this whether you like it or not is actual music, and listeners will pay to see shows, for years , de la soul has been around for over 20years.

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

the brand is dead dawg fucking dead.

    2. T says:

@RightHook is right. They have a great music career, pulling in stacks every time they do a show. Sometimes that quiet money is better than that popular bread. You gotta respect these dudes

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

So you saying a nigga that’s getting that quite money, selling weed through a phone is better than a nigga that’s moving weights.

    3. MassConglom says:

Actually De La Soul’s New album is currently #1 on Billboard’s rap album charts, and #2 on the independent album charts. Guess De La’s brand is not so dead after all.

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

Charts don’t lie but it’s only at 21,332 copies in physical sales, that’s nothing, young jeezy sold more than that out his trunk.

        1. MassConglom says:

That may all be true, but the good thing about releasing your album independently like De La did, is that all the cake from the sales goes back to them.

Fat Joe is another example of a indie artist making more money off of sales and streams then signed artist. Were as for sign dudes like Jeezy and Young Thug… they get next to nothing for selling lots of records.

  2. It would be a good time for their old label to release their discography.
