The gangsta has returned. After noticing Freddie Gibbs’ insightful and often humorous observations on sports through his Twitter account, Rap Radar decided to give him a forum to express his thoughts on the thrills of victory and the agonies of defeat. It’s Gangsta Gibbs Wide World Of Sports. The black Bill Simmons is here. And for his 13th column, weighs in on week one of the NFL season and Indianapolis Colts QB, Peyton Manning’s neck injury.

ESGN bitch. Back like we left our weed on yo baby mama’s kitchen table.

A nigga finally got a chance to really watch some football this week due to the fact that I had a week off. Plus my cable company gave us free NFL Sunday ticket for the weekend. I remember the good old cheater would allow us to just steal shit like that.

But anyway NFL week one was exciting. Either that or we were all just happy that lockout shit didn’t bleed over into the season.

The Thursday night game was off the chain. As I said via Twitter, the Packers look focused, which means my BEARS gotta be twice as focused to challenge them in the NFC North. The 2 time 100-Million Dollar Man, Mike Vick, was in MVP form with almost 200 yards passing and about a buck on the ground.

Even the 49ers got a W.

Ted Ginn from “The” Ohio State University showed his ass with 2 kick return TDs in less than a minute.

There were a few blowouts as well. The Steelers got outclassed and outmuscled by the Ravens 35-7. And the Bills whooped up on the Chiefs in a very lopsided victory that really could’ve went either way, ’cause both teams suck.

There was plenty of action in week one, but there was still some magic missing from the league this week: Peyton Manning.

Now, I hate the Colts and they deserved every bit of that ass beatin’ they got from the Texans. But it was sort of like beating a dead horse. I don’t like kicking the enemy when they’re down, I want my enemy to be at its full potential when I fuck ‘em up. Without Peyton, Indianapolis looked like a JV squad. Granted, Kerry Collins is a solid veteran in this league, but he’s no Peyton. His two lost fumbles and sub-par performance on Sunday proved that.

It made me think though: What would the league be without Peyton? Nobody other than Tom Brady prepares and executes at the QB position better than him. He’s arguably been the best in the business for the past 10 years. And although my heart rests in Soldier Field, I wouldn’t mind seeing him make another run at a ring.

Such a decorated career deserves more jewelry and it’ll be sad to see the Peyton Manning era succumb to a career-ending neck surgery. I hope he makes a full recovery. Losing 10 percent of the motion in your neck is some serious shit. In fact, that makes it hard for you to do regular shit, let alone play football. I hate him the most because he’s the best.

Get well soon Peyton, the league ain’t the same without you.

Since Gucci Mane’s release from jail this past Friday, he’s been celebrating. Last night, he visited the King Of Diamonds strip club in Miami with Ace Hood and journalist to the rap stars, Shaheem Reid. For the latest edition of Rap Radar’s Guest List, Sha gives us his take on the festivities.

What’s up Rap Radar fam? I’m down in Miami shooting something real special with the homie Ace Hood. About 2 A.M. this morning, we hit King of Diamonds, which is so over the top right now (in a great way.) Besides women dancing (Chi Chi you have plenty of jokes!), they had a series of boxing matches. How crazy is that? I missed RAW last night (what up CM Punk?) But got my fill of squared circle action. Lol.

Gucci was there with his crew including Coach K and Twin. Mr. LaFlare was all smiles, says he’s “doing great. Doing excellent” since coming home. N.O.R.E. was in the building as well. It was all love. Funniest thing in the world was watching Ace and Gucci throw stacks at the girls while they fought. One chick got laid out Debo style… Brutal… Last thing, the new phrase is “packs on packs on packs.” The ones come in packs of thousands wrapped in plastic. Lol.

Guess who’s back? After noticing Freddie Gibbs’ insightful and often humorous observations on sports through his Twitter account, Rap Radar decided to give him a forum to express his thoughts on the thrills of victory and the agonies of defeat. It’s Gangsta Gibbs Wide World Of Sports. The black Bill Simmons is here. And for his 12th column, Gibbs weighs in on the NBA’s second lockout.

Damn YN, I was focused on this lockout shit then I seen the Casey Anthony chick beat that murder case like OJ. It’s crazy how she got off for killing a child and they tryin’ to give Boosie the chair.

Anyway, I can’t wait to watch some sports to take my mind off all the crazy shit going on on CNN, oh but I forgot, both the NFL and NBA are now officially locked out.

This ain’t nothin new to the NBA. They had work stoppages in 95, 96 and the infamous lockout of ’98 which shortened the season to only 50 games. There were talks of this during the regular season but I was so in awe of the MVP season Derrick Rose was having to really give it any thought. I knew something was wrong though when I looked at a newsflash across the bottom of my TV screen that said “NBA in debt over 300 million”. I thought to myself, damn… I went to like 4 games this year and each time I spent at least $150 bucks or better in the arena on top of the tickets.

That along with all the TV revenue, merchandising, special events, etc.—how are these muthafuckaz broke? What it all boils down to is these greedy-ass owners want a bigger slice of the pie. Owners claim they can’t turn a profit in the current collective bargaining agreement which was established in ’05. Basically the teams are overspending and they want the players to agree to a system that
has them giving back hundreds of millions to the owners.

I ain’t no accountant or nothin’ like that but it sound like that luxury tax kicking these owners in the ass. Shiiit the Lakers payroll was 110 million, them as well as 6 other teams went over the 70 million dollar salary cap limit that was put in place. Who’s fault is that? You definitely gotta pay a nigga like Kobe 20 mill a year because he fill the seats, I mean ain’t nobody comin’ to see Luke Walton.

All 3 of the big 3 in Miami got max contracts. So who’s the blame? These guys deserve to get what they’re worth or what they generate and because their bosses fucked up the books—we the fans gotta suffer?

Ray Lewis had to be reading my tweets when I said if there is no NFL, the crime rate would go up. Imagine going through the fall without the NBA as well. Fuck it I’m just gon’ be a college basketball-watchin’ muthafucka. In a sick weird way it might help the college game, I know the NCAA don’t give a fuck either way it goes, they paid and they don’t have to pay the players, but that’s a whole other issue.

I’m out this bitch til next week. Shouts out to Jose Baez, you like the latin Johnnie Cochran, I’ll call u if I’m in a jam.

And for his 10th column, Gibbs licks a shot for the return of NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress.

One of my close homies told me that Carlos Boozer was mad at my column a couple of weeks back and he wanted to battle rap me for his salary next season.

Nigga please. We all know who gets paid to rap, and we know who gets paid to play basketball. So if you’re focused on that maybe my Bulls would still be on TV. Anyway, Welcome home Plaxico Burress.

In my eyes, he was one of the best wide receivers in the game before his unfortunate incident in an NYC night club that left him charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Unfortunate? Who the fuck am I kidding? That was just plain stupid Plax.

Aye my nigga, I got two gun charges in two different states so I understand the need for protection. We as public figures just gotta go about it the correct fashion especially a nigga in your position. But I got love for you though.

I been a fan since the Michigan State days and I’m eager to see what the future holds for you. 21 months in jail is a long time when you’re talking football. Not too many guys can miss two whole NFL seasons and come back and be productive. The speed of the game is always changing and you can’t really run post routes in a 6×6. With new young lockdown corners in the league like Patrick Peterson and vets like Darrelle Revis, it’ll definitely be a difficult task.

I must admit I was amazed at the MVP-like numbers Mike Vick put up this past year, not that I doubted him anyway, but most individuals wouldn’t have had the heart to do 23 months in the fed joint at Leavenworth then come out and be a starting QB in the league. I recognize and respect what he went through to get back on top. His situation has inspired me to believe that Plax can definitely be a good addition to any of the 32 teams.

What QB wouldn’t want a 6’5” target with a proven resume? Although he will be 34 at the start of the season I think for a wideout he’s still in his prime years. Shiiiit look at T.O., with the right guy taking the snaps it’s no doubt Plax can be effective. There’s even talks of him going to the Eagles to play with Vick. I think that’ll be an ill combination with guys like Desean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin on opposite sides.

A nigga went from being locked up to locked out, yet in still, he’ll be one of the top free agents once Roger Goodell and these owners get off that bullshit. Hell, the Giants should take him back, they need the help. I mean the man made a mistake but shit he had the game-winning catch in Super Bowl 42, don’t that count for something?

Anyway this blunt’s for you, Plax. God bless you and your family and I hope you finish your career on a positive note with big numbers and no more Super Bowl rings unless you go to DA BEARS of course.

I’m out this bitch. You can’t see me Carlos.

And for his ninth column, Gibbs bids adios to the winningest coach in sports history, Phil Jackson.

This blunt’s for you Phil.

Rick Carlisle said you were about to go off into the mountains of Montana and smoke peyote and meditate. Before you do that though, I just want to say thanks for helping to make the 90s so memorable for myself and many others in BULLS Nation across the globe.

I must admit, I liked Doug Collins as a coach and still do to this day. I remember my pops and a few of my uncles scratching their heads at the coaching change in ’89 but the Bulls couldn’t get out of the 2nd round. So they brought in the Zen Master.

At the time our main goal was to get tough enough to get past the Bad Boys of Detroit. Those early 90s battles with the Pistons and heated games with the Knicks showed that you injected character into our team.

The six times you took us to the Finals you won but each time seemed like a breeze compared to what we had to endure in the Eastern Conference Finals. I mean, sure you had the greatest player of all-time and arguably the greatest small forward of all-time on that Bulls team, but nobody could manage talent like you. Even when you went to the Lakers, you were dealt a pretty good hand with Kobe and Shaq. But shit, Rudy Tomjanovich couldn’t do shit with that, neither could Del Harris.

I was bitter when you went to the Lakers though, but I knew Jerry Reinsdorf and the Bulls front office ain’t shit and can be difficult to work for. Hell, they ain’t even want to pay MJ. I’m glad you went there and passed Red Auerbach to solidify yourself as the greatest coach in American sports history. I just wish you could’ve did it all from the Bulls bench. That would be too much like perfect.

Either way it goes Phil you the illest. I seen you shit on other coaches championship dreams like Paul Westphal, Rick Adelman, George Karl and Jerry Sloan. Those guys will probably never win rings but you got enough for every finger plus one more extra. You always carried yourself with class and dignity. No reporter or journalist could break you down at the podium in the post game whether you won or lost.

It’s a shame that the clowns you coach in LA sent you out on such a sour note, bringing you your first sweep in your coaching career. Not to mention the fouls at the end of the game by Odom and Bynum. We know you Phil and we know that’s not a true depiction of the coach you are. Them niggas were just being sore losers. And even though Andrew gave that bullshit apology, he won’t be a Laker next year either.

I love Tom Thibodeau and if he amounts to half the coach you are and gets a least a couple rings I’ll be excited, shiiit I might even win a little money. So this breakfast blunt’s for you Phil Jackson. You held this shit down for years. Now the question is, will you stay gone for good? I’m out this bitch too my nigga, well at least til next Monday.

ESGN on you hoez.

And for his eighth column, Gibbs provides gives a big F.U. to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and weighs in on the 2011 NFL Draft.

I’m at the end of the Return of 4Eva tour with my nigga Big Krit but I managed to catch the NFL Draft. Roger Goodell was greeted with boos and chants from fans saying “WE WANT FOOTBALL!!” as he stepped to the podium to announce the first pick. If this lockout shit don’t work itself out ain’t none of y’all niggas playin’— I don’t care what number you got drafted.

This year was an interesting draft though. Not just because of the looming lockout, but the picks. In the first round they took 12 defensive linemen, the most in NFL history. Also it was the first time a running back was selected so late in the first round when the Saints picked up Mark Ingram with the 28th pick. I guess that means bye bye Reggie Bush. It’s kind of hard for you to pay a muthafucka 11 million a year that can’t run between the tackles.

The Carolina Panthers must have been reading my tweets in the war room because they took the smart pick with Cam Newton. People criticized them for the pick saying Cam had character issues and a lot to learn at the QB position. I mean shit he ain’t got a Tom Brady arm but he’s a physical freak of nature and they need to sell tickets or else they won’t have a team there in five years.

The Vikings shocked a lot of people by taking Christian Ponder from Florida State with the 12th pick. I personally thought there were a few better QB’s on the board left but hey I’m not Mel Kiper. Vikings even picked a nigga that failed a weed test at the combine. Either way it goes, I’m a Bears fan so fuck the Vikes.

Can’t wait for football season to start but I’m good because the 2nd round of the NBA playoffs is about to be serious. Shouts out to Z-Bo and the Grizzlies for knocking out the boring-ass Spurs.

I’m out this bitch.

And for his seventh column, Gibbs provides another NBA Playoff update. Better luck next year, Knickerbockers.

I’m tired of this first round shit so it’s time to show the bustaz the door and move on to what I call the real playoffs.

I remember when they expanded the playoffs to 16 teams in 1984 the first round was a best of 5 series. Meaning that you really had to play your ass off or get an early exit. But with dickheads like David Stern running the money-hungry National Basketball Association, you know they had to throw that extra game in to get more ticket money (and you thought they did it for the fans).

My BULLS had a chance to show the Pacers the door but we dropped the ball in game 4, making me the target of all sorts of Twitter rants by these wack-ass Pacer fans. Face it, Reggie will never come back, Bird will never coach y’all again, your team will never win shit, KYS.

LeBron had a chance to close the door on Philly but a 30-foot-shot by Lou Williams kept the Sixers alive for one more game. A shot that would’ve for sure landed him a spot on a D-League roster next season had he missed it.

It was great to see one of my favorite players, Brandon Roy come back from his injuries that plagued him all season and make some heroic shots to tie the series up with the Mavs. Dirk just can’t catch a break in the playoffs. I picked the Blazers to run they old asses out the gym anyway, sorry Jason Kidd.

Memphis is looking good against the Spurs and my nigga Z-Bo ballin’ out the gym to put them up 2-1. Let’s see if the Spurs experience will get them over the hump.

Chris Paul showed Kobe that he ain’t no bitch and the Hornets ain’t just about to lay down and let the Lakers use them as a doormat on the road to a 3peat. CP3 even fucked around and got a triple double puttin’ up Oscar Robertson playoff numbers. For all you young bucks, Oscar Robertson is the only man to average a triple double for the entire season.

The only team that got the broom so far was the Knicks. Even though I slammed him in my last column, I love Carmelo. I think he’s one of the most talented scorers in the game, and with Amar’e by his side they’re certainly gonna win some playoff games. But not this year, not without a solid point guard and maybe not with soft-ass Mike D’Antoni. Go back to the Euro league, bitch.

Unless you coach the team to play defense you’ll never win against grown men in the NBA. Mike criticized Rondo this week, saying that he wonders how good he would be if he played in Minnesota. Newsflash Mike: The best thing going in Minnesota is Adrian Peterson and he ain’t suiting up for the T’Wolves.

Put Carmelo on that team and it’ll be the Nuggets all over again. No disrespect to Kevin Love, it ain’t your fault you got drafted to such a horrible team with such vicious winters. D’Antoni win a playoff game this year before you talk shit about an NBA Champion point guard, I mean he does have one more ring than you do. I’m out this bitch, ’bout to watch Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook sweep Denver tonight before I do my show in Pittsburgh.

ESGN all day everyday.

And for his sixth column he analyzes the opening round of the 2011 NBA Playoffs. Yo Carmelo, WTF?!

This is where we separate the men from the boys in the NBA. Playoffs just started and we had a few upsets in the game ones but that don’t really mean shit in a 7 game series. Although I must say I was quite surprised to see the Lakers and Spurs take an L to the Hornets and Grizzlies.

My fellow Indiana native Zach Randolph went off with 25 and 14 to seal the deal. Chris Paul had 33 points and 14 assists and put the Hornets up 1-0 against Kobe and company. Kobe almost fucked off the season on that fade away when he fell in the crowd and ran into a fan’s knee. I woulda put that nigga out the arena, fuck his floor seats. Lakers gonna bounce back and get rid of the Hornets with no problem though.

This year’s future MVP runner-up Dwight Howard scored an impressive 46 points and snagged 19 rebounds only to lose to the Hawks in game one. The Magic should win the series but if they don’t go all the way expect Super Man to be traded or lost in free agency to a team that can get him a ring. Might be the LeBron shit all over again—just in Orlando.

The original Big 3/Super Team of the modern era, Boston Celtics took down the Knicks last night with some help from the always reliable Ray Allen to go up a game. It’s sad because Amare played his heart out, that dunk on Jermaine O’Neal was nasty, but Carmelo spoiled it in the end when he took that 30 foot shot wit all that time on the clock. I know a few plays earlier the refs jerked him on that offensive foul call, but damn Melo you could’ve went to the cup and tied the game. Shit like that makes me glad you didn’t come to the BULLS. You can’t be fuckin’ off playoff games because you wanna be a hero.

With that said, my BULLS probably gon sweep the Pacers on the road to the finals. I told y’all in October it was gonna be ’91 all over again. I’m excited for the playoffs. The matchups are intense and it’s alotta young hungry players in the league. Don’t sleep on the OKC Thunder either they might eliminate your favorite team in the West and you can never count out King James in the East.

Holla at me in the 2nd round.

After noticing Freddie Gibbs insightful and often humorous observations on sports through his Twitter account, Rap Radar decided to give him a forum to express his thoughts on the thrills of victory and the agonies of defeat. It’s Gangsta Gibbs Wide World Of Sports. The black Bill Simmons is here. And for his fifth column he weighs in on Major League Baseball’s ongoing controversy. Manny Ramirez, you got the juice now.

Baseball’s back. Bring out the popcorn, the hot dogs and the steroid needles its on. We ain’t even 20 games into the season yet and we already got a new steroid controversy.

Manny being Manny as usual said fuck a 100 games with no paycheck and countless questions about his usage of performance enhancing drugs, I’m out this bitch. Matter of fact the nigga said he was going to Spain with his pops. Well deserved in my book, he played 19 seasons in the league, got a World Series ring and was one of the most prolific hitters of his era. So what he juiced up, all these muthafuckaz did.

Dave Winfield wrote a piece on Manny and he wasn’t too pleased about his decision to walk away from the game the way he did. Dave, they don’t make em’ like you no more OG. After your time in baseball the whole league was gettin’ juiced. That’s why I have utmost respect for guys like you, Eddie Murray and the great Hank Aaron. Y’all put up the hall of fame numbers the natural way and were men of respect off the field.

It’s a new day in baseball. I’d say the past 25 to 30 years can be considered the steroid era. Ask Jose Canseco. Everybody from Roger Clemens to A-Rod have been caught up in some type of PED scandal. Whether its pills, needles or a nigga rubbing some super-duper Balco cream on himself to hit homeruns.

This is White America’s pastime and they wanna see the longball. I can’t believe they even found a way to put you niggaz on trial for this shit. Lying to a grand jury? C’mon Barry Bonds. Nigga did you really grow a shoe size and a hat size in your 30′s? They bout to throw yo black ass under the jail. Good thing is your man didn’t snitch on you though, and he been locked up over 2 years behind this shit.

Fuck it man, its about to be hot outside, and I like white girls so I might go down to the ballpark for a few games this summer when I break from tour. Plus these baseball stadiums been like UFC matches as of late. The dumb ass Giants fan got beat into a coma in LA for wearing the wrong team colors and the police fucked this dude up in Pittsburgh on live TV. Bud Selig, holla at a nigga I need some tickets. CTE or Nothin.
