Bicken Bool.

YG’s coming of age debut, My Krazy Life, unspools like a deleted scene from Menace II Society. Autobiographical and entertaining, the album is proof of how the West was won in 2014.

guess I need to listen to this before I hate on it, but #1 cd of the year?

  2. Lmoolah says:

Idk what these dumbasd lists are. His personal favorites or the shit that did commercially well.

  3. BK James says:

No surprise here. I understand blogs are supposed to react to trends, but seriously, would RR have ranked this album nearly as high if it hand’t been for the grammy snub and YG’s subsequent bitching about it? The album isn’t bad but its outclassed by Pyrhme, RTJ2 and a whole bunch of other albums. https://bkjames.bandcamp.com/

    1. Von says:

YG also had HITS.. a lot of intangibles go into this category

      1. BK James says:

That’s true and those hits were good but when judging wether an album is the best of the year the quality of those songs should be judged, not their mainstream success. This isn’t a popularity contest, its supposed to be evaluating the quality of the art.

        1. Von says:

Not saying it should be judged just off mainstream success but w/ that included YG had it this year. Also gotta look at cultural impact as well. He did the damn thing.

    2. Greenbergs says:

this is a MAINSTREAM hip hop blog, not your underground hippity hop rap blog, these rankings are for the mainstream artists and songs…rtj might be dope and all but those dudes arent mainstream and never will be…

  4. Guillaume Pilon says:

    Maaaaan

Wtf is wrong with rr staff ???

    1. Stanfield says:

They are too busy Dick Riding

  5. Hussle says:

    Im offended……………..

  6. Sean Power says:

    i disagree

  7. Mr.Stealyogurl says:

And it’s official … B DOT IS NOW GOOD IN COMPTON

  8. John says:

    Yeah..you are fucking high ..

  9. Don P says:

FINALLY At least yall got something right YN. MKL certified new classic in my eyes. That shit was great from start to finish & Ali from TDE put that special touch on them skits to make the album flow perfectly. Still fucked up he ain’t get that Grammy nod

  10. JET$ says:

Why even do lists this year? We can all agree hip hip in 2014 was depressing. The worst in recent memory

    1. BasedNigga says:

Depressing in sales Yes, but music No.

    2. Selorm Amuzu says:

      but it wasn’t tho lol

  11. Your Father says:

Not a fan of YG’s persona but this shit was undeniable. Definitely came through on this one.

  12. Jax says:

    HOOD BILLIONAIRE SHOULDA BEEN #1.

    1. Stanfield says:

      #1 in the trash can

    2. TheTruthHurts says:

Hahaha that garbage was worse than Mastermind.

  13. blackbeltbreeze says:

maybe if it came out before GKMC the skits and overall concept would have hit harder. it’s strong. but better than prhyme, RTJ, or cocaine pinata? more impactful on industry than nicki or j cole? what is the measurement?

  14. Stanfield says:

This website dick rides more than any other. No wonder why Rap Radar gets little to no traffic.

  15. McGlock says:

every year RR pulls this shit. they need to stay in the good books of the rappers that pay this website. these niggas aint in it for the culture tho, they in it for the $. this shit makes me laugh every year, cant hate.

  16. DING DING DING, FUCKERY! 3-0 I was right for the last time. It was a good album but the nigga didn’t have a respectable single that didn’t have another artist of superior status then him on it. It was drenched in Classic West Coast sound but as a artist he didn’t stand alone enough to deserve this vote. This was nothing but a ploy to stay in good grace with the YG camp. Cole or Gibbs deserved this vote way more than a mediocre rapper from Compton.

  17. ITS ME says:

What a fuckin joke. RR YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!!!

  18. THE REAL mac DIESEL says:

WONDER WHERE THIS ALBUM WOULD BE WITHOUT THAT HIT SINGLE COURTESY OF DRAKE!!!! NO G NEEDS TO PAY HOMAGE TO AUBREY EVERYTIME THEY MENTION THAT SINGLE AND ALBUM!!!! DRAKE SAVED ‘OL BOY’S KRAZY LIFE!!!!

    DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

    1. FREE MAX B says:

remember the toot it and boot it yg? lol

      1. THE REAL mac DIESEL says:

………HA!!!! WISH I DIDN’T!!!! FROM TOOT IT TO THUGGIN’ IT OUT WITH A DJ ON INSTAGRAM!!!! HE’S A CERTIFIED SUCKA!!!!

        DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!

    2. Von says:

Shout out to the Platinum ‘My Nigga’ single that sold more than the Drake feature though.

      1. THE REAL mac DIESEL says:

OH SHIT, THAT’S RIGHT!!!! HE BETTER PAY HOMAGE TO JEEZY TOO!!! MY BAD!!!!

        DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

        1. Von says:

But of course, he IS CTE!

          1. THE REAL mac DIESEL says:

            YUP!!!!

            DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!

  19. TheTruthHurts says:

This album is great and I still listen to it all the way through, that being said I don’t think i’d put it at #1 RR…Top 5 would have made more sense.

  20. bcro31 says:

Everything yg said on this album i’ve already heard from a westcoast artist. Go look up 1992, 1994, 1995,1996, and 2005. All classic albums.

    1. BasedNigga says:

No point of hating sir everyone call this album a classic or a near classic.

      1. bcro31 says:

No hate. Album is good. But will you talk about it like the albums that came out the years i mentioned.

        1. BasedNigga says:

Of course why not, MKL was dope it wasn’t lyrically but who cares it told a story fo his life which was very cohesive and flowed very well, To be honest I was very impress I thought here go another trash rapper boy was I wrong. Every album don’t have to be GKMC or albums that came out in those years you mention. Like I said most sites have this album top 5.

          1. TheTruthHurts says:

Straight up. I had no intentions on listening to this, I knew Toot It and knew of My Nigga but had no will to listen to it or the album. After it came out I heard so much good about it and so I gave it a spin. I was very impressed for the most part. I felt like I was back listening to Snoop and Dre and that good shit. Heard it before? You better go deaf if you only want to hear original content, otherwise you’re fucked.

    2. TheTruthHurts says:

I think you’re going to be pretty disappointed with everything you pretty much ever listen to then for the most part haha…

  21. Hannibal Lecture says:

All this hate was going to come. MKL was a classic hands down!

  22. BasedNigga says:

YG Bompton shit. I agree My Krazy life is hard Grammy snub by the way they rather nominated Igloo.SMH

J.Cole should be number 1 in my eyes but again being number 2 is not that bad.

  23. Non Fiction Dixon says:

MKL deserved it it was the best album this year in terms of concept, replay value and singles. Everyone hating didnt listen to the album!!!!

  24. Sean Power says:

north Korea needs hack rap radar for all these bad list

  25. YOING NIGGA says:

Only thing #1 about this album are the beats. YG’s bars are mediocre at best.

    1. Non Fiction Dixon says:

Id rather hear a conceptual album with stories than album full of lyrical skill talking about absolutely nothing! You lyrical critics kill me!

      1. Sway says:

You were born in the mid to late 90’s

      2. YOUNG NIGGA says:

except this album had no concept and no stories. i guess the concept was compton blood with stories about compton blood stuff. we’ve heard it all before. this album gave us nothing new

        1. BasedNigga says:

Bruh nothing new under the sun, he told his story a day in life of compton. I mean no different that GKMC only different is that K dot is way more lyrical. It was very conceptual go listen again my G.

          1. Mike D. says:

            HUH!?? LOL

            Megamind

        2. tipp0183 says:

true but fun to listen too.

      3. BasedNigga says:

Word niggas act like if it not some lupe lyrically shit it is trash.SMH

        1. polopolo1 says:

I mean lupes 1st two albums were lyrical and conceptual, let’s not get that misconstrued

    2. The Ghost Of Black Justice says:

IM GONNA SAY THIS AGAIN… WE NEED TO START BACKING BETTER SITES. RAP
RADAR HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. YOU GUYS KEEP SAYING YOU WANT BETTER HIP HOP
MUSIC COVERED, OR THAT YOU WANT PEOPLE TO STOP BEING BIASED. WELL IN
ORDER FOR THAT TO HAPPEN WE AS A COLLECTIVE NEED TO EITHER MAKE A NEW
SITE AND SUPPORT IT, OR BACK ANOTHER SITE ON THE WEB.

    3. tipp0183 says:

True but i think the concept of the album covered up how horrible of a rapper he is and made the album really good, i wouldn’t put it over Cadillactica. it was a perfect storm, lightning wont strike twice for him. Def jam or whoever needs to cut their losses.

  26. ... says:

    GREAT ALBUM!!!!!!!

  27. el jim chapo guzman says:

L.A. L.A. big city of dreams / But everything in L.A. ain’t always what it seems / You might get fooled if you come from outta town .

          1. el jim chapo guzman says:

did i hurt your feelings bama?

  28. polokid says:

This was an okay album at best. The underground rappers had better albums then the mainstream rappers.. Rae Kass & Apollo Brown, Blasphemy was an very great album. Skyzoo & Torae, Barrel Brothers was a very album as well. RR might have to separate mainstream and underground into two separate categories next year

    1. Selorm Amuzu says:

for what reason ? RR has made it their misson to operate like a mainstream blog site so the best they are gonna do with underground is post their shit not give them accolades because they normally don’t fit mainstream criteria

  29. Strong Enough says:

the beats make my ears bleed.

  30. Fuck Your Opinion says:

We’re all entitled to an opinion. My opinion is your Ranking of Hip Hop Music in any fashion SUCKS!

  31. LuckyP says:

FOH. and nowhere on this list was COMMON’s lp mentioned . TF do i even come to this site for still anyways?

    1. Werd says:

Wow. I forgot bout that Nobody’s Smiling album.

  32. the-Lebron-curse. says:

This is the last time I visit this website built for 16 year olds. B. Dot update your firewall this shit coming down. Have a nice day.

  33. TH says:

Well i am offical old at 40 and a hiphop head..never even thought about listening to this album. Heard my 14 y/o and 13y/o kids singing “My Hitters My Hitters” from the radio….thought it was just some other crony Trinidad James rapper……little did i know it was from the “Album of the Year”…F’it should have just gave it to Iggy.

    1. TheTruthHurts says:

If you’re 40 and talking shit about music you’ve heard 1 song of from the artist then i’m sad at the future of our culture.

  34. LP1087 says:

Never heard it, probably never will especially if it’s drenched w/ Hawaiian shirt wearing, cabana lounging, sippin coconut thru a straw Mustard beats

  35. 2012Industry1 says:

Your List Is Upside Down! 1-10 should be ranked 10 – 1, because that’s how much better the albums from the bottom of your list are than the top! You guys suck…I mean, y’all just do!

  36. Sway says:

    TrollRadar.Com

and how the fuck does “the west was won” make sense here? U mean the west won… Smfh lol

  37. William Witherz says:

Damn I tried to listen to this album a couple times but it wasn’t that tight. I guess I’ll give a third listen… sheeit if Yeezus can get 30 spins to make me like it YG can get 3. But that’s it though. Bicken back bein bool… nah that sht was huff I might not listen a third time.

    1. TheTruthHurts says:

Why? Maybe it’s just not for you, which is totally fine. You listened to Yeezus 30 times to get yourself to like it? That’s not a good thing for you or Yeezus.

  38. diggz says:

I’m on track #2 so far I love it. That single he had not a big fan but lovin these west coast beats !

  39. Mike D. says:

This is RR trolling us….GOTTA be…I’ll be upfront, I’ve only heard 4 songs from this cat…the 2 singles off his album…the 2014 Freestyle and the LA Love record with Fergie. Duke is ST8 trash bags. It’s not even GOOD gangsta music. I know everything doesn’t have to be Fight The Power…but this can’t can’t really RAP. Like at least rappers like Jay Rock, Lil Herb, even Gibbs hating ass can RAP…YG, not so much! whatever LOL

    Megamind

    1. Werd says:

I agree that he’s not a good rapper. But the album was very good. Well produced, good skits and different shit to bang to. Give it a listen, maybe u might like it. I surely was surprised

    2. TheTruthHurts says:

If you didn’t listen to the album, then shut the fuck up. I have no problem with not liking anyone’s music, but you have to actually listen before posting a fucking paragraph about it. That goes for everyone, not just your dumbass. You call Gibbs hating and list Lil Herb? Your a fucking clown.

    3. Non Fiction Dixon says:

      Lil Herb?????? FOH

  40. Mr. Smith says:

    Rap needs to be saved.

  41. KILLA says:

I’m glad you got this one right.

  42. mrholloway says:

I declared this in March or May whenever it came out…there is no album that came out in 2014 that compares to this. No it’s not lyrical…Doggystyle wasn’t lyrical…hell half of best albums aren’t lyrical. This YG album is solid…could have easily had 8 singles in the 90s…but then again…im wasting my time saying this.

    1. Werd says:

I agree. Not a talented rapper, but best album of the year.

  43. @SkiYewNiverCity says:

People really like this BS album smh like its unbelievable lol

  44. Hank says:

LOL, skits sucked and lyrics were vague…. Be real, they love this album due to the mustard production

  45. actually i dunno why people are mad this is Elliots list nobody elses.

  46. MartyKahn says:

SMH, yall know this is bs

  47. Brian says:

You’re kidding me right…? This is better than Cadillactica? PRhyme? Pinata?

  48. The Ghost Of Black Justice says:

IM GONNA SAY THIS AGAIN… WE NEED TO START BACKING BETTER SITES. RAP RADAR HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. YOU GUYS KEEP SAYING YOU WANT BETTER HIP HOP MUSIC COVERED, OR THAT YOU WANT PEOPLE TO STOP BEING BIASED. WELL IN ORDER FOR THAT TO HAPPEN WE AS A COLLECTIVE NEED TO EITHER MAKE A NEW SITE AND SUPPORT IT, OR BACK ANOTHER SITE ON THE WEB.

  49. IMO says:

Omg album was kinda garbage I’m surry

  50. Javi says:

    Yall some dick riders bruh.

  51. C-zar says:

GTFOH. Really. Prhyme, Ras Kass, Dilated Peoples, Skyzoo & Torae, Black Milk, Cormega, Yancey Boys, Pharohe Monch – all droped way better albums last year. And that’s just to name a few. Man you trippin! YG can’t even make it to top 20! Fo real
