Dame has always been who he is right now. He never wanted to sell Roc-A-Fella at all, he didn’t want Jay doing corporate deals, like the S. Carter shoes with Reebok, he wanted them to make the shoes so they could “make more revenue” per sale than Reebok pocketing the sales revenue and cutting Jay a check for use of his name (aka licensing). Thats the guy Dame was and still is today, for the better or for the worse.

Making money with somebody as a partnership is different from handing “the white man anything for a bigger check”, which is what you said Dame would have done when he was “making money”. So yes Dame was making money with Lyor at one point in time, because yes, doing business with any MAJOR label involves doing business with “Whitey”. At least they didn’t sign some sucker deal with Def Jam, or a regular recording contract, they did a partnership and that allowed Jay, Dame and Biggs to keep majority equity in Rocafella. I do believe we can thank Dame for that.
If you even understood for a second what a culture vulture was and understood how your beloved white man leeches off of OUR culture, be it hip hop or african american culture on a whole, then just maybe you would be able to get why Dame says some of the things he says.
It first starts with understanding that the “truth” isn’t biased, it can come from a wealthy man, a broke man, a black man, a white man, a chinese woman or a haitian child. Honestly no major critique of the podcast, Elliot seems to be making some sort of effort to tone down the laugh, I saw a negative review on iTunes about that, me and everybody here have been saying that for quite some time. Pay attention to your listeners, you’ll be better for it.
Didn’t like what B.Dot was saying at the start about the fact that at this point “interest trumps product” in reference to WATTBA. That’s the type of thing we want to stop encouraging. If interest is high but the product sucks, we need to say so and stop making excuses for shitty product.

these podcasts are dope and i think important to us newer generations (i was born 1992) to take note from some episodes, like the the lyor one. regardless if you like him or not, its important to study his successes and understand how many careers he’s been apart of.
