Drake Addresses Cancelled Free Show

Just got home from the craziness at South Street Seaport where a free Drake show turned into a mini-riot before Drizzy could even arrive. While it’s always fun to blame everything on po-po, I really think they had no choice. After a hour and a half of kids standing on top of each other with no action or no music playin’, things were bound to go left. And they really did! Craziest moment: I think I saw someone toss a […]

But if you throw Nicki Minaj under the bus, he’ll get at cha. Here, Aubrey tells DJ Envy that he doesn’t respect Lil’ Kim and Ray J’s remarks regarding his labelmate. DJ Absolut To Sue Over “Best I Ever Had”

Hot 97’s DJ Absolut plans to file a lawsuit against Kia Shine for allegedly using his beat for Lil Wayne’s “Do It For The Boy”. That song’s lyrics were used in Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” and last September, it was revealed that Shine was compensated for it. Absolut says the rapper agreed to pay him 20% of the residuals but breached the contract. Reps for Shine have yet to comment on the suit. ny daily news

Juvenile Responds To Cover Controversy

This evening on the Hip Hop Honors red carpet, Shade 45’s Angela Yee and I confronted Juvenile about his alleged cover jack. The venue was a bit noisy, but here’s what he had to say: Juvenile: I don’t know what’s going on, tell me. What’s going on what the talkin’ bout? Well, they’re saying it looks like Drake’s album cover. Oh. I  ain’t see Drake’s album cover. I can’t—I don’t [shrugs]. But did anyone question you about that? Nah. You’re […]

Lyor Cohen Talks Missing Out On Drake

This flick of Lyor Cohen was snapped last year during Drake’s gig at S.O.B’s . Today though, Complex posted their interview with the Warner Music CEO. In a excerpt below, he speaks on not securing Drizzy to the label. Speaking of new artists, many people were expecting Drake to sign with you at Warner Music. Did it disappoint you that he ended up going with Universal Motown? Lyor Cohen: A very disappointing thing. But I’m a lover of rap music. […]

Drake Not Gonna Get Sade Collabo

For over a year, Drake’s petitioned for Sade to appear on his debut album, Thank Me Later. By now, you’d think that someone from his camp would’ve reach out to the singer, right? Wrong. In this interview with the National Post, Sade says she hasn’t even been contacted and purposely strays from collaborations. On the collaboration rumors with Kanye West and Drake: I don’t think they have contacted me. I’ve never collaborated because I’ve always avoided working outside my safety […]

Don’t Quit Your Day Job: Drake

Before becoming the third hottest MC in the game, Drake was an unknown rapper from Toronto Memphis. Looking for his big break, in 2007 he called Angela Yee‘s “Don’t Quit Your Day Job” segment on Shade 45. In hindsight, the audio is funny as it is surreal. Listen as callers critique his music and compare him to Bow Wow. Everybody has a deal—he made it without one. Part 1 Part 2 Part 3

Drake Hot 97 Freestyle (Funkmaster Flex)

Last night, the pride of Canada kicked a freestyle over Jigga’s “You, Me, Him, & Her” and Raekwon’s “Incarcerated Scarfaces” on Funkmaster Flex’s show. I thought that stopped doing these kinds of things over at 395 Hudson St. *shrugs shoulders*

“I’m in Aston doing donuts, I’m will kill the game and never send it my condolence.”
