*Sigh* After six years and 50 amazing issues, sources have confirmed that KING magazine has been dethroned due to tough economic times. Their final issue will hit newsstands nationwide April 21 and will feature Joe Budden’s wifey, Tahiry.
“I can only imagine how busy Twitter is right now over this,” quips an unidentified staffer. “I thought we had at least one more issue in us, but in general, I saw it. It definitely sucks, but what can we do, you know?”
As a former contributor, this is especially painful. Shouts to Jermaine, Sean, JFK, Lauren, Matt, Meghan, and Datwon for the ink-credible work over the years. *roll the credits*
Damn homie…Definitely gonna miss their back shots
KING was the best, i was just waiting for Show Magazine and Blassingame’s Rim & Wheel Catalog , er- a I mean Black Men’ Magazine to crash and burn.
Datwon was a great guy to deal with… lots of class. While Show Magazine occupies and obsesses over “midnight castings at his apartment” and model searches in bars like his buddy in Jersey, it was KING that always took a higher road… you’re leaving on top of your game guys… we’ll miss ya!
Only mag wroth $ is Complex their content is more than T&A rims and boring articles on hasbeen’s
This sucks soooo badly..
Who cares about kIng anyway..
by the way NEwsStand Stan…is this an affiliate or Knock off of HipHopStan.Com???
At least Budden’s girl got a look see before they closed down..
whos next? Source?
King is one of the most respectable mags in the market, we hope they work things out. If not, I’m sure the staff and great work will be reflected in other projects. We are working with independent contractors. XXL magazine recently did a model call party in a club in Atlanta. Shout out to Bonsu. The best thing about our job is that it’s fun doing it.
Enjoy the next issue fellas.
I am glad!!!!!
Sorry to see them go, but Christina Milan is definetly not the way get peeps to buy the magazine. just another nail the coffin in milan’s career. peace out KING!
OH HELL NAW I HAVE A PHOTO SHOOT COMING UP ON APRIL 23RD TO GET MY PORTFOLIO STARTED CUZ IM TRYNA GET IN KING AND NOW YOU GUYS ARE MAKING THIS YOUR LAST ISSUE. THATS TOTALLY NOT EXCEPTIABLE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO PUT THIS FOOLISHNESS TO REST……..
“THATS TOTALLY NOT EXCEPTIABLE” – don’t worry, based on your spelling you do have much more serious issues that require your immediate attention. Don’t try to be a photographer, go to school instead.
We were only five years in w/our favorite magazine… well at least we can say it won’t crash and burn but KING will gracefully bow out definitely like the champon this brand is all i gotta say is u gotta love it and “LONG LIVE THE KING”!!!!
Just from reading the comments here, if this is an indicator of ‘the illest magazine’s demographic, then it’s no wonder they’re folding. The grammar here makes my head hurt. YO DAT BE WACK!
no wonder i wasnt geting my shit on time i havent recieved teh mag in almost 6 months serves you right dammit*with tears in my eyes* dammit Damiit dammit!! i feel as if my cat died…imma miss King regardless:)
This is a good thing for Black America. Degrading woman and glorifying the rap lifestyle is outdated and tired. Maybe now, we can look up to our real black role models instead of woman and men who have no morals or anything valuable to add to society. Take your business expertise, founders and employees of King, and make the world see that you are all intelligent, capable people who are truly a force. I believe you all can make a difference in changing the landscape of black entainment.
I can t believe ya’ll fell for this shit!!
FOUNDATION IS THE ONLY MIXTAPE MAGAZINE OUT!!! WE’VE WORKED WITH EVERYBODY SO COME CHECK US OUT. WE ARE DISTRIBUTED IN EVERY CITY ACROSS THE COUNTRY SO STOP PLAYIN!!!!
A magazine run by blacks, read by blacks. Great recipe for success.
I remember when Dennis Page used to laugh about King and call it Blaxim. What an asshole, serves him right. Probably needed more money for his hamptons summer home instead of saving good peoples jobs.
