Last night, Lupe announced on Twitter that his next mixtape, Friend of the People will not be dropping on Christmas. Later, he retreated to LupeE.N.D. and said he scrapped the project to prepare for his upcoming mountain climb.

damn, i was looking forward to the FOP on christmas :(.
but to the fans on these other sites that complain like a bunch of bitchass niggas need to remember he is putting out the tapes for free.

First let me say Lupe is crazy talented and has great potential . With that said, he needs to come down off of that high horse just a little bit . HE is the one that said he would release the mixtape and when. Now when people (not me) are disappointed he goes at them ?? Talking about major releases being pushed back by Atlantic is him shifting the argument . This mixtape push back is all him . In my opinion the last one was mad short and just okay anyhow .
Hope we don’t have to pay for the next one??? Are his sales that great that he can throw around comments like that ? He doesn’t move crazy units and shouldn’t alienate the supporters that he does have by coming off as arrogant and condescending .
I can get along with my enemy as long as we talk about things we agree on . Point being only when things get a little rough do you see people’s true feelings . It’s all love when he’s getting love but when his fans say something he ain’t feelin’ you finally see how he really feels. He sounds like he thinks he’s above or better than the very people that keep him eating off of this music stuff.
He has not arrived in my book, and he has a long way to go as far as making relatable music that EVERYBODY can feel . He’s put himself in a box of his own making by being unwilling to make sure he is understood by the people that need to hear his message the most . Those of us hat get his flow and feel it are already where he’s at . He can keep preaching to the choir (his fans) or start talking to the congregation (people who’s heads he rhymes over) that needs his insight . He could be great but he will have to humble himself away from the mic, and on the mic to do it .

i fucks with a lot of what you said in that last paragraph though. can’t front. its a two way street though. i look at it like this though, @26-27 yrs old, we dont give niggas passes, but we still gotta recognize that for the plight he’s taking on, at that age, it’ll take years before his “arrival”, even on the level of reaching the crowd that needs to hear what he’s saying most.

There is wisdom in what you’re saying . He has taken a stand in the game that is commendable . He has chosen not to compromise any of what he believes in while existing in an industry that is built on people compromising their beliefs for a buck . I have a lot of respect for the dude on a lot of fronts .
I also understand that he’s a young dude pioneering new ground and there is no instruction manual that he can read that will give him steps to follow, because it is a road less travelled .
I do think that pride and self righteousness can become a stumbling block to somebody like Lupe . He is brilliant and he knows it . But I also hope he knows that he is BLESSED with his brilliance , he hasn’t earned it . Also I hope he realizes that knowledge is wonderful, but knowledge without the wisdom of how to impart it to others effectively is only wonderful to one’s self . Lupe is trying to win souls. He’s trying to win these people’s souls back for them and present them to them . That’s a noble aspiration . But there’s an old saying that states,” He that winneth souls is wise.” . I don’t mean to be hard on my dude , cause as I stated I really do like him and his music . I guess I’d like to see him use a bit more wisdom in the way he shares his knowledge . Whether it’s in a post that is schooling people on how the game really works from the inside, or if it’s in his music. A little humility will make him find a way to reach more people by becoming less arrogant and more humble and relatable .
Last thought . You haven’t taught , if I haven’t learned . For Lupe to “arrive” as the teacher I know that he can be, he needs to ensure that more people can learn from what he puts out . Even medicine comes in fruit flavors .
