RR’s ’09 Best Mixtapes: #4 Pill “4180: The Prescription”

East Coast lyricism meets Dirty South grit on Pill’s debut mixtape, 4180: The Prescription. Along with DJ Burn One, the Atlanta native caused a raucous with his trap anthem, “Trap Goin Ham”.  But Pill wasn’t confined to just the block. He globetrotted on “Dreamin” and walked a thousand miles in his “Trap Boots”. Unfortunately old habits die hard, and on “Blow” he flips Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” into another dope boy ode. Get geeked.

  1. Hell yea, I can rock with this pick even if it’s outta the top 3 where it should be. Came way harder than the Refill, that left me a lil disappointed.

  2. Nathaniel says:

i’m looking for that J.Cole “The Warm Up” to be #2…

imo its the best of the year, but of course drake’s had all kinds of crazy impact, so i’m sure he’ll get the edge.

Pill signed to Asylum though…bad move.

  3. Yess says:

Better than No Ceilings though? Big fan of Pill, but No Ceilings regained a lot of fans for Weezy in the midst of the last year that was traumatized by autotune and rock.

  12. […] Ask Wiz Khalifa what Warner Bros did for him. I’ll wait.. dropped em. Atlantic signed em put em on TV and Radio and he sky rocketed. Mind you, whn I signed I had one of the biggest records in 09′ “Trap Goin Ham” never touched TV never touched radio. Now go back and do your research and see what unsigned artist was neck n neck with Drake’s So Far Gone in 09′. Pill 4180: The Prescription. […]
