I’ve always pronounced it Sha-de cause I’ve got an Aunt married to a Nigerian man, and he said that’s the correct way to say it. I didn’t know about the jacking up thing or whatever..what’s this not a real fan talk, though? ACTUALLY Sade said in an interview in the 80’s that in the US people pronounce her name SHARDAY because her english accent makes it sound like an “r” is added. However she said its really pronounced “Sha-Deh” with an african accent. Also Epic added “pronounced ‘Shar-Day” so people would turn the s sound into an sh sound when saying her name.
To my defense, i have NEVER heard anyone pronounce it with an R so..heh.
In England and most other places everyone who has the name Sade pronounces it as SHAR-DAY.
